  1. Pieter, Neptune Air will fly to SGN this year, perhaps using the 732.
  2. Kian Hong, Chaity, many thanks for your encouragement. I always appreciate the quality of your photos on A.net and envy your more favorable conditions to spot. Here is a pic of the A320 AK "1st airbus to Kota Kinabalu" 9M-AHG with the B734 MH, 9M-MMK in the background. Both airlines fiercely compete at SGN, especially in the afternoon. The aircraft arrive and depart back to KL abt. 5mn apart.
  3. Uncle Pieter, it's really hot at SGN, 34-35C! we encounter now heatwave from 9AM to 4PM. This month there is frequent switching of active runways from 25 to 07 due to stronger southern monsoon wind. Here are some backlit and heat-distort pics #1 A320 Thai Air Asia "Truly Asean" rotating on RWY07R #2 A321 Angkor Air (K6) returning from its early flights SGN-DAD(Danang)-SGN with Vietnam Airlines callsign #3 B734 Jetstar Pacific (BL) coming back from HAN #4 ERJ-190 Mandarin Airlines arriving from KaoHsiung #5 A330 CX landing RWY07L #6 A rare B727F DHL calling at SGN #7 B772 SQ172 with a quite low final approach to 07L #8 A330 VN-A368 take-off at half-lenghth of the runway 07R #9 Yet the pilots intentionally leave the gear-down till reaching 3000ft
  4. Sunset at Tan Son Nhat (SGN) are now later than the "winter" time. It helps me to get viewable pics of the heavies arriving past 6pm. #1 A320 VN9883 arriving from Siem Reap, Cambodia #2 A330 VN225 a domestic flight from Hanoi (HAN) lasting 1h45' #3 A343 CX765 "One World" livery on final approach to runway 25R while a full moon is rising #4 A343 CX765 "One World" Reg. 5. Uncle Pieter, Are u at SGN or HAN now? We'll certainly meet at HCMC for a spotting & food party The photos taken at the airshow are OK but not spectacular because of fences and too many people around the aircraft. No aerobatics team! No flying display of the RAAF F111 I'm too busy these days to edit them yet Here are some photos of the A321 Turkuaz taking-off from RWY07R SGN Cheers & my regards to Mai
  6. @Chaity, thks for the "stunning" souvenir photo with the Malaysian MW members Here are some of my pics during this rendez-vous of 5 Feb. (light conditions were not favourable at all!) #1 A trouble-free spotting location #2 Fokker 50MP Enhancer RSNavy reg#710 #3 B737-800 Jet Airways VT-JGU #4 A330-200 Garuda reg#PK-GPK #5 B747-400 Lufthansa reg#D-ABVP
  7. Superb series of pics, Liew. U still managed to go up to the weather station hehe?
  8. Vernon: Kianhong has mentioned it at the RAT, acronym for Ram Air Turbine. This device is the last resort for hydraulic power and electric to control the aircraft when all engines shut down.
  9. Thanks KianHong. Today Dato Pahamin has visited Uncle Ho Chi Minh (city) #1 A320 AK, reg. 9M-AFM, 300m to the threshold of runway 25R, SGN #2 Dato Pahamin on hold at taxiway E6 before align and take-off from runway 25L, SGN
  10. Pieter, prepare your helmet, I'm ready to be your "xe om" driver VN-B223 the newest ATR72-500 in VNA fleet. VN pilots ferried it from Toulouse to Hanoi in Dec'09
  11. B737-900ER Lion Air (JT), Boeing scheme, reg PK-LFG, final approach to SGN from SIN. This is the same jetliner on the same day that KianHong has posted on Singapore Changi spotting topic Note the B777-300 of Eva Air (flight BR392) making a rare U-turn in the lower part of the photo to join the W1 route northbound
  12. Here is a photo to illustrate my above comment about July in SGN. A-321VN on final approach to rwy25R SGN , flying in front of a burgeoning thunderstorm
  13. Waiping, Considering the period End April to End August the peak travel season of Vietnamese and Europeans in/out of SGN, AK price is not bad. July is within the rainy season in Vietnam but rains are not frequent at SGN and HAN, practically no rain in the Central of VN (Nha Trang, Da nang, Hue). Photo Spotting is OK but expect heavy heatwave during 11AM-3PM. Feb-April are the best months at SGN, but if you like aircraft landing with strong crosswind and quick showers (like I do, ) then July is good time.
  14. Very nice picture, Kianhong I got it too yesterday but at VVTS with hazy sky (on final) and heatwave (during taxi) after it departed SIN at 11:50AM as flight JT150. If your picture was taken around 4:00PM SIN time during landing then its flight number is JT157 leaving SGN at 1:50M local time (Zulu +7). I'd love to get your advice on location to spot landing AC during the afternoon since I'll go shooting right after check-out of Changi without scanner (heard it's strictly forbidden in Singapore as well as in Malaysia)

  16. Ignatius: No problem lah! I'm quite familiar with Changi viewing halls and my last Nov. run from T1, T3 and T2 has shown me what to expect. Thanks Kwek for your help
  17. Hi, Ignatius. The viewing hall in T2 is now accessible? I saw it was under renovation last early November. Is there any modification with regard to the T2's glass windows (something like in T3). If yes then it would waste our time spotting there and a convenient and comfortable spotting location is lost Could you advise a good (clear glass or open air)location in T3 in non-restricted areas? Thanks.
  18. Very nice pics Liew Happy new Year too. I always love seeing noseview A/C rotate and climb. BTW is it the same location you took us there?
  19. Dear Kianhong, is your Vietnamese friend Nguyen a MW member? I'll be very happy to see or contact a compatriot during the SIN Airshow. BTW your pics taken at WSSS are very nice. I'm not familiar with Changi air traffic therefore my last October spotting there was disappointing. Photo of CZ's MD11F taken through the glass partition at the T1's outdoor smoking area
  20. Thanks Uncle Pieter, Here are some air shots in the vicinity of KLIA. BTW I'll fly to Jakarta CGK tomorrow evening on Indonesia Air Asia non-stop flight. So even that I've booked a window seat there's no way to take photos on approach and landing Perhaps I'll get some interesting ones from CGK to Bali and return. Wishing you and Mai a very happy Xmas holiday. #1 A321VN's last banking before final approach to KLIA. #2 Air to air shot of an A330MH just passing the same above location
  21. Thanks Li Ren, I've noticed this mistake after submitting the photo but can't find any EDIT icon to click on
  22. Another shot, from the same flight KUL-SIN, of the LCCT and MAS Kargo Terminal. Uncle Pieter's favorite B773 is vacating runway 32L
  23. A couple of overview photos of KLIA from the sky, so no problem with police like in last June. It's a sunny but hazy afternoon therefore the pics are not sharp and clear. #1 #2
  24. I made a quick visit to Singapore on the way back to SGN after a biz trip to KL, therefore no chance to join any SIN-based spotters. #1/ A KLM B777-200ER flaring over rwy 20R around 3:30pm #2/ 03 heavy birds in one shot from the smoking area of T1: 1 B773-Emirates and 2 B773-SQ
  25. Hi Pieter, I'm awaiting your pics from SGN. I'll be in KL from 18-24 Oct then back to SGN via SIN, could you and our KL friends advise an air force museum? B777-200ER SQ Star Alliance, 9V-SRE landing SGN
