  1. quite true eh, non of the wreckage pieces seemed to be crushed like cans. Even the galley was fairly intach with SU's still in place.
  2. "Among the regional full-frill carriers, MAS has one of the largest narrow body fleets that will put it ahead in capitalising on regional routes." He for got to add the largest and the oldest narrow body fleet............. Think about it , if you were heading for melbourne would you like to be on the plane for 7 odd hours or almost 10? If it was a brand new plane also can consider, A380,777 300er or a newish bus.Because that will be a pulling factor for the masses. MH has nevr been able to make up their mind about Aussie routes. First it was KUL- MEL- SYD Ten it was KUL-MEL and another flight KUL-SYD Then it was a transit in MEL/SYD (either one) to BNE Now it is KUL-CGK-MEL
  3. Airbus is expected to face calls to ground its worldwide fleet of long-range airliners tomorrow when French accident investigators issue their first account of what caused Air France Flight 447 to crash off Brazil on June 1. It is believed that the accident bureau will report that faulty speed data and electronics were the main problem in the disaster that killed 228 people. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is likely to be asked why it had never taken action to remedy trouble that was well known with the Airbus 330 and 340 series. Nearly 1,000 of the aircraft are flying and until AF447, no passenger had been killed in one. “EASA has a legal and moral obligation to get to the bottom of this problem now. If there is a defective system and the aircraft is unsafe then it should be grounded,” said James Healy-Pratt of Stewarts Law in London. The firm, which specialises in aviation, is representing the families of 20 of the victims of flight 447. Related Links * Airbus crashes into ocean with 153 on board * Body of Air France pilot Marc Dubois found Only 11 bodies of the 50 recovered from the Atlantic have been identified. They include Captain Marc Dubois, 58, who is believed to have been resting when his two co-pilots lost control of the aircraft in a storm. The search for bodies has been called off but ships continue to hunt for the black boxes although their locator beacons are assumed to have expired. Suspicion over the air data systems on the Airbus 330 and 340 series has increased after the disclosure that the aircraft had experienced 36 episodes similar to the one that brought Flight 447 down as it flew from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. Airbus first reported problems with the speed sensors — known as pitot tubes — in 1994, it emerged this week. The company advised remedies, but no mandatory action was taken. Last weekend, the US National Transportation Safety Board, began looking into two incidents in which Airbus A330s flying from the US suffered critical episodes apparently similar to that of AF447. This raises the prospect of a possible US order on modifications to the Airbus. The first US incident occurred on May 21 when a TAM Airlines flight from Miami to Sao Paulo, Brazil, lost primary speed and altitude information while in cruise flight. The other was on a Northwest Airlines flight, on June 23, from Hong Kong to Tokyo. Accounts on the internet from the pilots report a desperate struggle to keep the jet in the air. The fate of Flight 447 would probably have remained an eternal mystery had the aircraft not automatically transmitted data back to the Air France maintenance base. In the final four minutes, they told a story that was familiar to the airline. Ice particles or water had blocked the three pitot tubes. This upset the air data computers which in turn caused the automatic pilot to disconnect. The pilots would have had to fly manually in near-impossible conditions.
  4. Air canada, air india (bailed out by goverment),British airways, jet airways, kingfisher all are on the verge of bankcrupcy. They are followed very closly by malaysia Air ( claims its pockets are full but mere talk no new products to show) are closely following the same route, Bad year for avaition. So many companies cant be doing wrong in their bussiness. So it boils down to bad economic reccesion.
  5. This particular plane was banned flying into EU.
  6. MAS has never been an oppertunity grabber and hence grabbing this 787's will be a miracle. Being a GLC it has its red tape. as many or rather too many top people has to be involved before a decision can be rached. If all this top people sit in one or two meetings and make a decision it is fine. But how it works is not so. There will be many individual meetings from various diferent quaters for different reasons and gains taken into account. Then dinally goverment givs green light and all are happy. But one unhppy top official was not consulted in this preceedings and felt left out.And he makes a hoo hah. So goverment puts decision on hold. LAter cancels it.
  7. QF68 was four hours into its journey from Hong Kong to Perth when it hit severe turbulence over Borneo. Passengers say the first indication of trouble was when the seatbelt warning light began flashing. Keith Huckstable was on the flight and says the incident happened about 2:30am. "All of a sudden the plane dropped - I reckon about a 30-storey building - and there was a hell of a kafuffle in the plane," he said. Some of the 200 passengers say there was screaming and crying, as anyone not wearing a seatbelt hit the roof. Mr Huckstable says some passengers began clapping when the plane landed safely in Perth. "There was just about a raucous clap, just the fact that we were back on terra firma again - it was great," he said. Qantas described the injuries suffered by passengers as minor. The head of Qantas corporate and government affairs, David Epstein, says the airline has confidence in the A330. "There were no indications of any events to do with the aircraft or its systems. It appears to be purely a meteorological event," he said. In October last year, an airbus flying from Singapore to Perth nosedived hundred of feet in seconds, injuring 70 passengers. An inquiry found a computer problem was responsible. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the cause of the mishap.
  8. It is not true that a old BMW is more reliable that the new one. So is it true that a old proton is more reliable than a new one as suggested by waiping?
  9. But an Airbus or boeing for the matter is no proton. They are not 3rd world products like proton.
  10. the 747( Purrajaya) features and photogaphed in the tread " 747 to kuching " (Nose/frontal shot) looks so dirty, with water marks stretching from upperdeck windows all the way to maindeck. Hope the next color scheme MH chooses will be black so dont have to worry about all the marks anymore or keeping it clean.
  11. NEW DELHI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- A Russian aircraft hired by the United States military was instructed by the Indian defense ministry to change its flight path mid-way and head for Mumbai airport while it was overflying India Friday evening, reported the local newspaper Times of India on Saturday. The Antonov 124 had 18 Russians on board and was on its way from Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, where the United States has a base, to Kandahar in south Afghanistan, said the report quoting sources at the Mumbai airport. A defense ministry public relations official confirmed the incident, but denied that any Indian Air Force fighter had escorted the aircraft. When seeking permission from the defense ministry to fly over Indian airspace, the aircraft identified itself as a civil aircraft doing a charter operation. However, when applying to enter Pakistani airspace from India, it identified itself as a defense aircraft, said the report. The ambiguous status of the aircraft forced the defense ministry to issue orders to divert it to Mumbai, said the report quoting unnamed sources.
  12. A brand new car virtually is truble free for a couple of years and hardly needs to much attention compared to a 14 year one.So even tho LCC spend less on their maintainance, I would rather fly a brand new jet then one which has been exposed to many many years of stress, with every take off and landing.
  13. Pure waste of tax payers money. A380 ready Kuching? Joke. Shoukd have built some nice road/highway for the folks there.
  14. If KLIA remains as it is, it will not features in the coming years top ten, as there are many airports that are striving to be there and hence their work will be paid off.

  21. Seoul's Incheon International Airport has been named the world's best in the annual World Airport Awards. Incheon beat out last year's winner, Hong Kong International, which fell to second place. Singapore's Changi came third. Australia's airports were nowhere to be seen in the top rankings, with Auckland named the best airport in the Australasia/Pacific region, coming in at number 10 over all. Brisbane and Melbourne were named the second and third best airports in the region. Asian airports dominated the awards, with seven of the nine service awards going to airports from the region. Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted congratulated Incheon on winning the award, which is based on surveys conducted with 8.6 million air passengers, covering more than 190 airports worldwide. "Incheon is an airport that has been in the global top five ranking for the World Airport Awards during the past five to six years, and it is a great achievement for them to secure this premier mark of customer satisfaction. The survey evaluates traveller experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors - from check-in, arrivals, transfer through to departure at the gate.
