  1. Finally arrived in Malaysia after all the delays.
  2. Yes, MLV has new cabin. The above list was given to me before MLV was released to service.
  3. Haha! Gotta maximise the utilisation rate of the fleet with all those new A320neo and A321neo!! Kind of curious the load factors. Hope to see them using E2 on Sarawak and Sabah routes. Routes to Sarawak and Sabah are like just one airline is good enough (but comes with expensive ticket price tag), if two airlines are plying, both will make loss.
  4. These two routes are only popular during CNY and occasionally school holiday. Singapore being an expensive destinations, and Sarawakians are known to be thrifty, to lesser extent poorer, the routes have death notice written all over them since their launch.
  5. Side note, yesterday the Coldplay management chartered a MH B737-8H6 9M-MXM for moving their staff from Kaohsiung, Taiwan to Jakarta, Indonesia. Coldplay is scheduled to play at Jakarta tomorrow evening November 15, 2023. They were performing at Kaohsiung on November 11, and 12. Malaysia Airlines used to fly to Kaohsiung as MH86/87 in the early 1993/1994, route was Kuala Lumpur – Kota Kinabalu – Kaohsiung 4 weekly with 737-400 Photo Credit: 陳彥銘 of 高雄機場航空器資訊交流
  6. She will do MH149/148 rotation to Melbourne and back for the remainder of the NW23 schedule. Then for NS24 season, she will solely do DOH MH160/161.
  7. Only these A350-941s remain in the marketplace: MSN 124 (ex-Hong Kong Airlines B-LGA), currently with Azul, rumoured to be leaving, lessor AerCap MSN 153 (ex-Hong Kong Airlines B-LGB), lessor AerCap MSN 168 (ex-Hong Kong Airlines B-LGC), currently with Azul, rumoured to be leaving, AerCap MSN 235 (ex-Hong Kong Airlines B-LGE), lessor ALAFCO MSN 246 (ex-Hainan Airlines B-308G), lessor JIC Leasing MSN 256 (ex-Hong Kong Airlines B-LGH), lessor ALAFCO MSN 391 (ex-SAS Scandinavian Airlines SE-RSC), lessor Fuyo General Lease (FGL) Note that Thai Airways are also in the market for additional A350-941. So far, they have secured 5 out of 11 they are seeking for. If they are taking the above MSN 124, 153, 168, 235, 246, 256, it will fit in just nicely six airframes. All are configured in C33 Y301. Thai's A350 fleet now has three different configurations and cabins: C32 Y289, C33 Y301 and C30 Y309. I am not sure if MH will want to add another configuration/ cabins to their A350 fleet. At the same time SAS has just released SE-RSA MSN 358 from lease, which is now going to China Airlines. The latter is looking to add two A350s, therefore who will take up SE-RSC MSN 391 remains unknown for now.
  8. MXA is still in the older interior, according to my insider's information.
  9. Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome Malaysia Airlines 7th A350-941 9M-MAH Credit to Aviation Temptation on IG. https://instagram.com/aviation_temptation?igshid=ZTF2dmJiaHNyYnV2 More photos: https://m.facebook.com/groups/thespotters/permalink/7236247186388514/?mibextid=Nif5oz
  10. Different airframes requires different rework, hence the delivery is not following the usual A to Z sequence.
  11. As of today, the following B737-800NG have been reconfigured to new seat configuration (12BC/162EY: 174 seats) 9M-MLM 9M-MLN 9M-MLO 9M-MLS 9M-MLT 9M-MSA 9M-MSF 9M-MSE 9M-MSG 9M-MXD 9M-MXE 9M-MXF 9M-MXH 9M-MXK 9M-MXL 9M-MXN 9M-MXQ 9M-MXX 9M-MXV They have 42 B737-800NG in their current fleet (including three leaving soon), they are halfway through the fleet refurbishment. Sorry for the blurry photo.
  13. Yes, this is the issue. Imagine a newly hired HR whose basic salary is RM3-4K higher than the engineers who have been working their heart out since MAS era now MAB...and spent all the times and money to attain the professional certification over the decades, and then HR turned around and say "you old man does not deserve RM8-10K a month salary". Of course engineers will say "Fish u, I am out of here!!". Now with Turkish Airlines, Riyadh Air, Saudia and Air India placing orders for hundreds of new aircraft recently, EK will be getting their new A350 next year, literally a dead sentence for MH. Can't wait to see when SIA Engineering opens at SZB, it will be fun.
  14. AMS/CDG are planned to return in 2025/2026, subject to equipment availability and receiving necessary government approval on both sides. This was mentioned in one of the MH townhall.
  15. Chandra did an interview last week stating they will wind up the ATR operation in SZB soon as the Malaysia gomen is planning to allow jet commercial operation in SZB, they won't be able to compete with jet operation with ATR 72. Those ATR 72 will be reassign to Wings Air, sister company in Indonesia. They are also adding two more A330-300 and one additional B737-8 MAX by the end of 2023 in ramping their services in KUL. Currently, Batik Air has a fleet size of 16 B737 MAX 8, 10 B737-800 and two A330s. https://www.nst.com.my/business/corporate/2023/10/971775/batik-air-malaysia-add-three-more-aircraft-year-end-expansion-asia

  17. AirAsia parent plans to raise more than US$1bil in debt, equity - FT Wednesday, 25 Oct 2023 2:00 PM MYT https://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2023/10/25/airasia-parent-plans-to-raise-more-than-us1bil-in-debt-equity---ft Capital A Bhd, the parent of AirAsia, is planning to raise more than $1 billion in debt and equity, and will list some of its businesses through a blank-cheque company, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday. Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes has agreed to a deal with Aetherium Acquisition, a special purpose acquisition company, and plans to list several businesses through it next year, the FT reported, citing two people familiar with the deal. This includes a new business extending the AirAsia brand to companies hoping to start airline franchises in developing countries, the report said. The group has been evaluating fundraising options for a planned U.S. listing after it was hit by pandemic travel restrictions in Asia, leading Bursa Malaysia Securities to classify it as a PN17 company, or financially distressed, last year. The potential fundraising also includes a $150 million loan from Bangkok Bank this month, FT said. Capital A and Aetherium Acquisition did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. - Reuters

  19. Batik Air group strategic director Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the codeshare allows Emirates to access five domestic Malaysian cities and three regional Southeast Asian destinations operated by the airline. Also present were Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Lion Air Group founder Rusdi Kirana. 20. As MYAirline co-founder’s remand ends today, cops nab another man in Bangsar for ongoing money laundering probe https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2023/10/23/as-myairline-co-founders-remand-ends-today-cops-nab-another-man-in-bangsar-for-ongoing-money-laundering-probe/97858 By Kenneth Tee - Monday, 23 Oct 2023 9:44 AM MYT KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — A Malaysian man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to ongoing investigations against low-cost carrier MYAirline co-founder Datuk Allan Goh Hwan Hua and his family who are suspected of involvement in money laundering offences. Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the latest arrest was made at the suspect’s home in Bangsar here earlier this morning. “The suspect will be taken to the centralised Jinjang lock-up to be remanded. “Investigations are ongoing pertaining to the review of important documents related to i-Serve’s business transactions,” he said in a statement to the media. i-Serve or its full name, i-Serve Online Mall Sdn Bhd, is an e-commerce company where Goh is a shareholder. Bank Negara Malaysia had fined i-Serve and six other companies affiliated with it RM50 million in October last year for illegal deposit-taking and money laundering. Goh, his 55-year-old wife and 26-year-old son were arrested at their home in Shah Alam, Selangor on October 17 for investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. Transport Ministry wants Mavcom to answer for MYAirline licence approval https://www.nst.com.my/business/corporate/2023/10/970516/transport-ministry-wants-mavcom-answer-myairline-licence-approval By BILQIS BAHARI - October 23, 2023 @ 5:04pm KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry is investigating on how the air service licence (ASL) was granted to the financially-troubled MYAirline Sdn Bhd in 2022. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has taken the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) to task for giving out the licence. "Whether or not they have gone through a proper process and procedure, that is something that we need further investigation. "This is definitely something that Mavcom has to be answerable. They have to be accountable in terms of the process of granting the (ASL) licence," LOke told reporters after officiating Batik Air Malaysia Sdn Bhd's codeshare partnership with Emirates here today. The procedure prior to registering a company as an air service operator in Malaysia starts with applying for an ASL from Mavcom before applying for an air operator certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
  21. I remember at one time, they were all hyped up, dubbed replacement for Vietnam Airlines. Looking at launching US and Europe destinations shortly after starting its operation. They were supposed to get A330-200 to test the long haul market, but jumped on the B787 and order a bunch of it. Then had a few used A319/A320/A321 then went on shopping spree to buy new ones when their home market is bleeding money. Guess they were too ambitious. Their flight slots are not really desirable since as late comer the good slots were all taken by Vietnam Airline, Pacific Airlines and Vietjet. Their first owner/CEO was controversial and was hit with fine penalty by the local regulator. Aug 2022 his replacement came and left, another replacement came in May 2023 and left in July 2023. The previous owner FLC was forced to relinquish it's control due to restructuring. BOD also resigned. All four major airlines (Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways) in Vietnam are making losses. Now, this will be interesting time to see who blinks first.
  22. You didn't read my comment fully "RM176! Oh dear, how can you sustain an airline company when each ticket is sold on average RM176.......I know I am oversimplifying but......" So what is your point?? Ryanair flew 160million pax, therefore they can afford to offer cheap fare, MYAirlines is at most 1/1000000th of ryanair size, offering such cheap fare is suicidal.
  23. Bursa Securities rejects AirAsia X's application for relief, PN17 upliftment By Kang Siew Li / theedgemalaysia.com https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/686802 19 Oct 2023, 01:44 pm KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Medium-haul low-cost carrier AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) suffered a setback on Thursday in its attempt to get itself uplifted from its Practice Note 17 (PN17) status. In a bourse filing, AAX said Bursa Securities had, vide its letter dated Oct 18, 2023, rejected the airline’s application for proposed relief and PN17 upliftment. Bursa, however, has granted AAX an extension of time until Jan 17 next year to submit its regularisation plan to the regulatory authorities. Its latest extension is due to expire on Oct 28. AAX had been granted an extension to submit its regularisation plan on two occasions, first for six months to April 28, and then for a further three months till July 28 this year. "In this regard, the airline will consider all available options (including the possibility of an appeal) and announce the next course of action to be undertaken in due course," said AAX. While the reason for Bursa's rejection was not disclosed, an investment analyst believes it could be due to increased scrutiny of airlines after what happened to another low-cost peer MYAirline Sdn Bhd recently. Cash-strapped low-cost carrier MYAirline abruptly suspended operations on Oct 12, citing financial pressures 10 months after it took to the skies. "The knock-on effect is AAX's sister company Capital A Bhd having its own PN17 regularisation plan knocked back. "Capital A needs AAX to get out of PN17 first, then sell its four short-haul airlines to AAX to get out of its own PN17 status," the analyst tells The Edge Malaysia. He expects a knee jerk reaction to both AAX and Capital A counters after the midday break. At noon close on Thursday, AAX shares were still up two sen or 0.89% at RM2.27, while Capital A shares settled down one sen or 1.08% at 92 sen.
