Lufthansa to Terminate Kuala Lumpur on 1 March 2016
Geoff R. replied to Jonathan Kong's topic in General Aviation
Flew KUL-FRA in October in economy and the service was very good. Also on busy flights, when travelling with my wife, I much prefer the seating arrangement of the A340/A330 over the B777/A380. You can get a window and aisle seat together. I think the LH service is another victim of the ME3. -
You're applying logic and common sense, therefore, I don't expect this to be anywhere near the final outcome

According to flightradar24 Lion Air 737-8 PK-LPL just landed at KUL direct from Honolulu at 03.30 local. Wondering why delivery flight was to KUL. Geoff -
From the article "The Japanese airframer’s order book for the MRJ now stands at 407, which includes 223 firm orders, 160 on options and 24 purchase rights." A healthy number of advanced orders at this stage of the programme. Geoff

2 Daily Emirates A380 to Kuala Lumpur from 1 July 2016
Geoff R. replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
That almost 1900 seats per day each way to fill - at 75% load factor that's 500,000 passengers each way per year! How long before 2 or 3 daily A380s in place of the 777 or maybe a 5th service? Geoff -
The US State Department is responsible for ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and elements of the Black Hawk will be covered by ITAR. This will prevent Brunei passing on the aircraft to another country until approval is obtained. Geoff
-
Thanks for the information and link. Interesting answer by Zulkifeli on who will operate the Black Hawks "will be operated jointly by the RMAF and the Army". Geoff

Any news on this? When announced in January it was reported they were going to be handed over in September. Other than a vague reference in a Borneo Post article in August, when Najib visited Brunei, it seems to have all gone quiet, Geoff
-
Still all white engine cowls 27 September. Seen with stickers 28 October, so sometime between these two dates. Geoff

Any further details on the Mi-8s? Geoff

flymojo Airline Orders 20 Bombardier CS100 + 20 Option
Geoff R. replied to Mohd Suhaimi Fariz's topic in General Aviation
October Launch For Flymojo Cancelled Friday, October 30, 2015 Malaysia’s newest airline, Flymojo, which is managed by Fly Mojo Sdn Bhd, will not meet its planned October launch following the ringgit decline and issues surrounding the Bombardier aircraft it intended to use. Analysts say the airline that announced in March it would improve connectivity between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak with its launch, has seen the purchase price of 20 Bombardier CS100 aircraft rise from RM5.5 billion, from the time it was ordered, to RM6.24 billion due to the weakened ringgit. http://themalaysianreserve.com/new/story/october-launch-flymojo-cancelled -
Their first aircraft is 9M-FAR Cessna 208B (c/n 208B5225) so it seems they are serious. Anyone photographed this yet? Geoff

Rename and shame Jun 5th 2015, 13:25 BY B.R. RYANAIR, as the airline has not tired of shouting for the past 18 months, is now trying to be nice. Sometimes even to its own passengers. In a radical change of strategy it recently decided the future no longer lay in moving flyers to tears at check-in desks by extracting exorbitant fees for indiscretions as minor as forgetting to print out a boarding pass. Its new, customer-friendly approach seems to be paying off. Last week it announced that its profits were up two-thirds in the year to the end of March. But, according to a report from the Cambridge News, old habits die hard. A student flying to Ibiza for his holiday found that his girlfriend’s stepfather had mistakenly booked him on a flight under the name Adam West, rather than his actual name, Adam Armstrong. Ryanair told him it would cost £220 ($337) to change the name on the booking—double the price of the ticket. However, the carrier hadn’t reckoned with such a bloody-minded and enterprising student. Splendidly, the 19-year-old avoided the cost by changing his surname by deed poll to the incorrect name on the ticket, and then paying for a new passport. The scheme cost him less than half the Ryanair charge, reckons the paper. Full story here www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2015/06/how-avoid-excessive-airline-charges Geoff

U-Tapao is 140 km from Bangkok. A bit like calling Melaka Kuala Lumpur's third airport! Geoff -
