  4. Because of this simple message over facebook, the whole world went crazy, including some of mwings members here and ask the million dollar questions, When is the last commercial SP flight and when it will last fly to KUL? And so, we approach Iran Air and proposed our plans for the SP, similar to our Biman's coverage, before the SP is withdrawn from revenue flights and retires by 23 November Classic Iranian design feature wall. Because of US government 'allowing' Boeing to sell 'some and limited' parts to Iran, the SP's life span was extended and went for 'C' check earlier than most of us expected. The 'Farewell Flight' organised by Iran Air and their appointed travel agent, became a 'Sight Seeing' flight. It was confirmed by Iran Air later, that the SP will continue flying revenue flights after the 23rd. It was an uphill task for us, planning and replanning, meetings after meetings with Iran Air, MAB and DCA as there was no firm info when the SP is officially scheduled for KUL sector. We took a chance and yesterday, we went ahead with the coverage after getting necessary approvals, not knowing whether the SP or the -200 will be flying in. The usual airport pass collection and we are to be escorted by the auxiliary police whenever we go. Hon Kit, can't wait to snap snap as we stepped into the aerotrain. Before we arrive at the Satellite Terminal, lets take another wefie. The weather was great, blue skies, bright sun and what could possibly go wrong... Flight DELAYED!. Original ETA was 1040 and New ETA was 1210. So, we went for coffee and chilled-out. Over to the other guys.
  5. Just to add on. Weather was indeed good yesterday morning...
  6. Some recent shots... I think she has found SZB as her second home. Batik Air departing in the rain after having her seats refitted at Airod First 787 to SZB, Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight, from Singapore arriving late in the evening and departed the next day around 5pm back to Singapore.
  7. Cant imagine it has been a week since the 734 retirement. A throwback, water canon salute,a different angle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiix--M7d0E&feature=share&list=UUkBGq0NYru9bECufPyOLMjg
  8. It was pretty intense when AJ and his media entourage walking towards the plane to congratulate the crew. As you can see from Hon Kit's picture, imagine everyone trying to cramp into the small door to get a picture. After some photos with the crew, AJ walks back to the terminal for a short press brief. He looks happy. A very jovial mood in the cabin. After 22 years, the feeling is bitter sweet. A last look at the classic cockpit... Lastly, Capt Muzairul signing off and closes the 734 cockpit door for the last time. One last crew group photo with the aircraft Manufacturer's Model No. 737-4H6 Manufacturer's Serial No. 26458 Type Cert Co. A16WE Production Cert No. 700 The aircraft is then handed over to the ground engineers. Security personnel 'closes' the door.
  9. The MH Classic 734, to we all known fondly as 'jelly-fish', 'M&Ms', 'Smarties' has been given a simple retirement 'party' after 22 years of service. We were very thankful for Malaysia Airlines' invitation to cover this momentous event; covering on behalf of MalaysianWings. The program was simple and straight forward: 2030 - Pass collection at L2 MTB. 2115 - Media arrives at Gate A2R, escorted to tarmac. 2135 - Aircraft, MH 1165, arrives to water canon salute. 2200 - After pax deplane, photo session with crew in aircraft. 2230 - Refreshment at MAS Domestic Golden Lounge. Pass collection This piece of plastic can 'literally' bring you to places... While waiting to be escorted into airside, many things were running through Hon Kit's mind After long security screening, we ran through the terminal and quickly positioned ourselves on the tarmac as the plane has landed. A final salute. A video to be watched in HD.
  10. Since the arial S&R for MH370 has been called off, the locals here were very lucky that the two China Air Force IL-76 have made SZB their night stop last Saturday before proceeding back to their China base. At the same time, SZB was hosting lucky spotters from Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Indonesia with this rare aircraft treat. Do enjoy the videos. I apologise for my shaking hands but please TURN UP the volume. China Air Force 045. Clear to land Rwy 15 http://youtu.be/k1TH7B7KkU4 The next morning, both departed slightly after 0800. Thanks MIR for the head start. Again. Please TURN UP the volume China Air Force 045. Taxy to Kilo for Rwy 15 http://youtu.be/xeqlYVyeNak China Air Force 045. Clear for take of Rwy 15. Like most classic aircrafts, they will need to spool the engine before the take-off run. http://youtu.be/mTQIDEPhBrg Thank you China Air Force for your relentless arial S&R in the Southern Indian Ocean for MH370.

  16. New Year welcoming the living classic; the last DC10 pax to KUL. Her days are numbered till end January 'tentatively'. Every Wednesday, Friday (eta 1500) and Saturday (eta 1755). Catch her while you still can before she is gone for good.
  17. What a way to say goodbye to SZB 2013 thread from today's traffic. FY/EXIM Bank AT72 arriving in good light. Sriwijaya 738 arrives for maintenance at Airod. She caught us by surprise. and KLM 744 returning AMS saying goodbye to SZB and 2013 Happy New Year and looking forward to 2014 SZB Thread.
  18. Testing shot on C17. We are still puzzling why SIN rejected their landing clearance... Point to Ponder. Well, one man's lost is another man's gain. Testing shots on Retro... Having to stop for her and letting her pass in front of you is just surreal. Inilah Barisan Kita.... Jon is bigger than Retro!
  19. After non-stop of testing... the real Biman can be seen from a distance. You know it is a DC10 when you see a central bogie with two engine pods or an engine pod above the fuselage. Biman 86. Clear to land Rwy 32L. "New Era" The Last of Her Kind.
