Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted June 23, 2006 I wonder if all these reflect the maintenance culture in RMAF? Heard that it is very poor. Perhaps some insiders here can shed some light. At this rate, the lack of maintenance discipline will just annihilate the whole airforce. RMAF jet crashes at Kuantan airbase A Royal Malaysian Air Force two-seater Hawk jet crashed during landing at Kuantan airbase on Friday, when its front wheel failed to function. The aircraft's pilot suffered burns and has been warded in hospital. Did the gear collapse on touch-down or it did not come down at all prior to landing? H Azmal 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2006 Most of the time it's not the maintenance team to blame per se. Government funding for upgrades and spares come in sparsely and slowly, and in between they have to make do with what they have.
Imran K. 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2006 I agree with Hafizi. Sometimes spare parts just aren't available on site when a repair is required...and thus sometimes the aircraft have to be sent out to perform whatever missions it has to undertake with only a temporary solution to the problem affixed onto the aircraft. Cant really have fighter jets going AOG on the country whilst waiting for spares right?
