Dubai's Emirates Airline and Boeing Co. Wednesday confirmed an order for 150 777X, the plane makers revamped version of its popular wide-bodied jet, in a deal valued at $56 billion at list prices.

The deal for two types of the 777X was first announced at the Dubai air show in November and helped launch the jet, making it the largest product launch in commercial aircraft history. Emirates has ordered 115 777-9X and 35 777-8X. It also holds purchase rights for an additional 50 versions of the jet, which could increase the total deal size to $75 billion at list prices.

The order is now finalised - 150 firm and 50 options. It is not a new order.

Total B777X orders are now 300. Not bad for a plane that has not yet flown!

Boeing Co. is proposing to stretch its largest 777 model to create a twin-engine behemoth aimed at delivering a knock-out blow to Airbus Group SE’s struggling A380 superjumbo jet, said people familiar with its plans.

The U.S. planemaker has approached several carriers about the plane it calls the 777-10X, including Emirates Airline, the world’s largest operator of both Boeing’s 777 and Airbus’s double-decker aircraft, said the people, who asked not to be identified because talks are private.

The proposed model would carry about 450 travelers, sharpening its rivalry with the A380, two of the people said. To do so, Boeing would stretch the frame of its 777-9 to squeeze in about four extra rows of seats. The -9, whose debut is slated for decade’s end, will be the first twin-engine model to encroach on jumbo territory by hauling more than 400 passengers.

I don't think Boeing will seriously build this. Sales of the 777-9 has already stalled and all the airlines that need >400 pax aircraft have already ordered them. News of the 777-10 is just to stimulate the market...
