Posted on October 22, 2012, Monday

BANGKOK: Months after taking to the skies with Thailand’s first transsexual air crew, fledgling carrier PC Air has suspended services over financial troubles that left passengers stranded in South Korea.

“The airline informed the Department of Civil Aviation on Friday that they cannot operate their charter flights due to business problems,” Thai Deputy Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt said. “So it will suspend its services,” he added.

PC Air hit the headlines when it hired four transgender cabin attendants in a highly publicised recruitment drive to operate charter flights from Bangkok to Hong Kong and other Asian destinations.

But the privately owned carrier drew less welcome attention last week when its only aircraft was unable to take off from Seoul’s Incheon Airport because the company could not pay its service and fuel fees. — AFP

Shame - i thought what they did was a fantastic gesture :( Too bad they went bust.

In this day and age though - Yields and loads are king. To make a million in the airline industry you need to start with a billion :p

This reflects badly on the regulatory authorities. How can a new airline go bust so soon? Why were they able to obtain an AOC when their financial resources are so limited?

Happy Airways already started operation like 2 or 3 years ago, they used to fly Phuket-Langkawi which lasted for several months, and they were scheduled to fly HDY-SZB but the flight never took off. Not sure what happened to this airline these days.

i'd like to add 2 more airlines in the DEFUNCT section

9. Thai Sky Airlines (used to fly to KLIA)

10. One-Two-Go Airlines (ceased operations after the deadly crash in Phuket)
