Radzi 2 Report post Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) Is this the same plane that had its engine replaced in Penang? Even if it is the same aircraft, it will be a different engine. When a component becomes unserviceable, it will be removed from the aircraft; another one is then fitted. The component will be send to the shop for repair, then stored until needed. Most likely it will be in a different airframe. Edited May 16, 2010 by Radzi
Sung 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2010 This aircraft has no problem with its engine, it was due to another reason that's why it was been shut down in flight. The aircraft operate normally back to kul next day.

Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted May 16, 2010 The mind boggles ! Please share if you're not obligated otherwise Why? Havent u heard? It's part of management's latest strategy to reduce the fuel bill. Once the aircraft is on finals and fairly assured of arriving safely at its destination, a single engine will do. Imagine the amount of fuel saved across many flights adopting such a technique and the cummulative positive impact to the bottomline at the end of the day! Sung 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2010 Nothing to worry much, the aircraft is okay, just that the crew did the engine shut down according to their check list due to certain reason. That's why 737 is made with 2 engines. F50 and Twin Otter very common land with single engine.
