Junichi Suzuki 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 After spotting at KUL,I went to CGK for spotting. I introduce some PICS to you. This Mandara A320 spotting from Jakarta Airport Hotel. This hotel rocated Terminal 2 and all rooms face to 07L/25R. Terminal 2 use for all international flight and Garuda,Merpati. And Terminal 3 opened last month for Mandala and Air Asia Indonesia. The above-mentioned airlines use 07L/25R mostly. These PICS from Terminal 1. Terminal 1 use for Lion,Batabia,Sriwijaya and Riau,Garuda citylink etc... There are observation view, but the fence has already been set up. But still, it is possible to get like this. These PICS from outside of the airport, called "RAWAJATI". It needs to take a taxi to go this area. I think it is likely to spotting in the afternoon on a good condition. I'm sorry for my terrible English as usual

Greg Wood 3 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Junichi, Great photos from Jakarta! I visited there in January 09 and it was fantastic, like you we also stayed at the Jakarta Airport Hotel which was very convienient and reasonably cheap I recall about US$120 p/night ++. Here are a 2 pictures we took during our visit there from behind on the wire on viewing deck! Stored aircraft around GMF awaiting there fate: & more stored aircraft at Jakarta: Junichi, can you advise where abouts RAWAJATI is, as we never got there and do all taxi drivers know howto get there ?? Is it a village or house estate alongside airport's perimeter or something else. Anymore details from you will help others & myself who intend to revisit this airport. Cheers Greg
Junichi Suzuki 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Dear Greg Wood At First, here is a map. "RAWAJATI" area faces Jakarta Airport Hotel, but it's take about 40 minutes from the airport hotel. Also the road is not good, very narrow and the ruggedness is intense All taxi drivers don't know this area, but the driver who I met lives near this area fortunately! So I could go there. If you revisit to CGK,I tell you a mobile phone number of him. Or it might be good if you ask about"RAWAJATI" from person who works at an airport. Because I heard from him, there are many people working in the airport who live in this area. I think "RAWAJATI" area is a village. There are many shops like a Papa-mama shop where you can buy mineral water & some cold drinks cheaplyer than the airport. I hope you can go there, and get some good PICS
