reyneo 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 Wow! That is ALOT of flights to be launched all on the same day! Especially with the 2x daily CGK, capacity dumping? Where are they gonna get the jets? With this many flights ex-SIN together with KUL/BKI/KCH/HKT/BKK, its almost a hub for the AirAsia family!

Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 I think this is the Asean liberalisation thingy. Prior to this, AK Indonesia couldn't get the rights to/from S'pore. And the same/ similar restrictions resulted in the continuing existence of Valuair, to serve Indonesian routes.
Waiping 12 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 No problem. AK has been known to quietly drop any unproductive route.

Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 Well done AirAsia! QZ has been fighting over CGK-SIN since like 5 years ago, when CAAS ruled out their application at the last minute. This route is a surefire profit maker, 2 daily flights are surely inadequate, considering the volume of traffic between Jakarta and Singapore. Having said that, I think it will have less impact to SQ, because SQ is serving a different group of passengers.
reyneo 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 yup, they will compete with Jetstar /Valuair (3x daily) and LionAir (1x daily), and pretty soon Tiger Airways too...
