  1. Chaity!! I remember that dog from Sepang town! Hahaha..Looks like it was just a little bit too attracted to both of your lenses! I bet someone was cursing really bad till they decided to send a snake to shoo you two off. Anyhow also, great catch of the OS bird!
  2. Upon further checking I found these. The A380 has four engine-driven pumps (two per engine) pressurizing each hydraulic system (total of 8 EDPs) - the pumps of engine 1 and 2 pressurizes the GREEN hydraulic system - the pumps of engine 3 and 4 pressurizes the YELLOW hydraulic system. - also was told that any two pumps (per engine) is sufficient for pressurizing any one system (5000psi) GREEN system powers the NLG , Wing LG, and their associated doors whereas the YELLOW system powers the Body LG and its doors.
  3. back to my very first question again, why was a gravity extension of the landing gears performed if you still DO have hydraulic power? edit: watch the video before this which flee posted, the analyst had a reasoning on it anyways.
  4. On the A320, if you lose either one engine, the engine that is still running pressurises its own system and also provides pressure to the other system via a power transfer unit. I believe on the A380, there would be something similar to this or even more sophisticated and losing total hydraulic pressure on all systems just because of one engine being shut is probably something that i wouldn't believe just like that.
  5. http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/11/4/business/7360115&sec=business Just some news from the Malaysian "aviation reporter". One minor typo should read as 737-800 and not 737-400.
  6. And also looks like they lost hydraulic pressure? Very clearly seen that the gravity extension was used to lower down the gears.
  7. There is also a short video posted there @ http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/10/28/malaysia.female.pilots/index.html?eref=edition_business
  8. Great shots T.A! Impressed that almost all the shots were taken around 1/10. Do you have ultra-steady hands or you were shooting using a tripod/monopod? The first four pictures actually sums up the whole new interior!
  9. WHAAAAT? THE LEGEND WAS IN SZB BUT KEPT QUIET ALL THE WHILE???
  10. Thanks Capt Radzi for alerting. It was great to meet up with you Flee since the last anniversary celebrations in SG. Now what I'm eagerly waiting is for Hon Kit's pictures...
  11. While waiting for 9M-MXA's arrival, was also doing some spotting. M48-02 9M-JAQ. From APFT?? 9M-LLI with the 1Malaysia sticker. This fella was having a joyride I guess, happily coming in and doing a low flypast before flying off again. 9M-FYG 9M-FYE Cheers!
  12. Continuing... After the T&G, she came in again for the final phase of landing.. We can all shrug off all our worries about dark bellies after this, as it'll look good in any weather! Considering the weather around SZB and KUL today, I still think she looks elegant and sweet! After exiting the active runway, she taxied back to the terminal before she was greeted by this.. WATER CANON SALUTE! I was too far away, but this is the best I can share. I hope the "other" MW member who had VIP access will share some head on Looking forward to the rest from the rest!
  13. Feel free to share your pics @ http://www.malaysianwings.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=15117 guys. A dedicated thread for 9M-MXA's homecoming. And I know one MW member in that crowd there
  14. Guys, I opened a thread for this @ http://www.malaysianwings.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=15117 . Feel free to post there as this is definitely an occasion to commemorate!
  15. It was unusual for me to go spotting in SZB, but today I decided to drive down to SZB (although a 140km drive to and fro) just to witness this special moment in Malaysia's history. It is a day for all Malaysians to be proud of irregardless of what has been said or done. I know we had many MW members covering from all areas and angles, and with such, I decided to open a dedicated topic just for this. I hope the mods would be okay as it is definitely a day to remember for all 9M-MXA was cleared to land at 1313hrs and did a touch and go, circled around and came back again to land. Gave us spotters not one, but two opportunities to shoot her. I was at the threshold area of RWY15 together with another member flee, and we had others scattered around all over SZB just to catch this special bird! Just to start off with one first while I get the others edited and also others can share here too
  16. Hopefully someone openly asks Azran if this is actually true. Anyways, sharing 2 more from yesterday's session. 9M-MMA. Better to cherish these before they become obsolete. 9M-AFE taking off from a distance.. Cheers!
  17. Thanks everyone for the support and congrats to Hon Kit for nailing it into A.net! Anyways just to confirm, I saw both sides of 9M-XXG today and I can confirm that the "Liberate Sydney.." thingy is GONE totally. Back to the standard "Now Everyone Can Fly Xtra Long".
  18. Time to revive this thread. Today we went spotting mainly to catch Air India 001. STD listed on KLIA website was 1700hrs but all of a sudden at 2pm, Chaity updates me that STD is now at 1510! Rushed over and had a fruitful day of spotting. Pics will do the talking.. AI001 operated by VT-ESO. Rotated so bloody early, so all of us got some nice underbelly shot Delayed Saudia, HZ-AKG. Ever sleek looking EK, A6-EBJ. It cannot make anyone more happier to catch KLM's Skyteam. PH-BVD, dedicated to Uncle Pieter and Cornelis. 9M-XXG. Where has the "Liberate Sydney" thingy gone? It now reads "Now Everyone Can Fly Xtra Long". And definitely the catch of the day HAD to be this. 9M-AFE in new clothes! Another one to do with sports that AirAsia currently sponsors, ASEAN Basketball League. Sincere thanks to MIR for the info on AI. And what a way to celebrate my post no. 1001 in MW. Cheers!
  19. Thank you very much Chaity for the link. Both the 747F leased to CV and SV are in KUL till this very moment, so I am wondering if they are still in business? That particular friend of mine did tell me that the only 2 747F already have a new owner. If you happen to take off or land on 32L, you'll be able to see all these 5 birds in front of the MH hangar.
  20. Last week while talking to a friend, was informed that Air Atlanta Icelandic has ceased its operations. Thought it was just a rumour until I spotted one of the four 747s parked in front of MAS hangar in KLIA being torn into pieces. These birds were already on LTP there and was told that the engines were returned to the respective owners and the airframes are not being sold. Anyone with any news at all mind sharing some light?
  21. It is on all 9M registered planes, check out the flag orientation on the right hand side. Just a mirror image, believe you can read AN67 issued by DCA for the fine details.
  22. Just to confirm that it was a once off charter. GCEO brought 9M-AFY to MWX for the F1 race in Korea yesterday via AK 001.
  23. http://airlineroute.net/2010/10/20/zh-w10-intl/
  24. I seriously don't mind competitions like these. Remember last time, even MH came out with ads like this? Competitions like these are way healthier rather than trying your best to stop your enemy to fly to the destinations you're currently flying.
  25. If that is the case, I suggest an all primer livery! That way we can save colours, less weight, less fuel burn, less heat absorption and lower operating cost. Come on, cost isn't the issue here. If it was, it would only have one single malaysia wording there to differentiate MH and the rest.
