  1. Reduction of crew set per flight and per aircraft is not a good way to cut cost. The current crew set per flight and per aircraft is working just nice. Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR) 1996 "The Director General may give a direction to the operator of any Malaysian aircraft, whenever that aircraft is flying for the purpose of public transport, requiring him to include among the crew thereof or least one cabin attendant notwithstanding that the aircraft may be carrying less than 20 passenders. In case of an aircraft with a total seating capacity not exceeding 200 passengers, the number of cabin attendants carried on such a flight shall not be less than one cabin attendant for every 50 passengers or a fraction thereof carried on the aircraft. In the case of an aircraft with a total seating capacity exceeding 200 passengers, the number of cabin attendants carried on such a flight shall not be less that half the number of main exits in the aircraft, and in addition when more than 200 passengers are carried, there shall be one additional cabin attendant for every 25 passengers or a fraction thereof: .. provided that where the number of cabin attendants calculated in accordance with this sub-regulation exceeds the number of main exits in the aircraft, the operator of the aircraft shall be deemed to have complied with this regulation if the number of cabin attendants carried is equal to the number of main exits in the aircraft." Study Case 1:- MAS B737-400 = 5 crew set 16 pax in GCC - 2 cabin crews 1 LS/LSS - Safety - Primary Crew 1 or P1 - guards/attends Door 1L and D1R - Galley works (drink orders/meal preparations etc) - safety equipments/safety annoucements - voyage report/documentations/paper works/etc - in-flight service - liases with tech crew (captain/co-pilot) 1 FSS - Safety - Assist Crew 1 or A1 - mostly cabin works - in-flight service - etc GCC = taking care pax and tech crew needs. The general responsibility of a cabin crew (Assist Crew) not assigned to an exit, is to assist in the evacuation of passengers and opening of the window exits. They shall assists in directing/redirecting and establishing even flow of passenger evacuation in the cabin. He/she will bring down all the necessary items for evacuation. For example during crash-land, there are 4 important items to bring down, first aid kit, megaphone, transmitter and flashlight. During emergency evacuation, should a Primary Crew be incapacitated (kaput) during an emergency/impact, the Assist Crew is to TAKE OVER his/her duties. Tech Crew (Captain/co-pilot) ONLY SUPERVISE the evacuation process with captain in the middle of the aircraft and co-pilot somewhere near forward doors area. Hope you guys get the idea. Thanks.
  2. I'll try my best la to snap some photos. Provided, LS/LSS and crew set yang ok one. Anyway, 9M-MKR is now back online after a month long of cabin "retrofittedâ€. It now came with centre over head compartment, few enhancements here and there, but still no doghouses, magazine racks, coat closets and still, same old galley equipments.
  3. Isaac, I can confirm now that we still have few Mexican crews. As for spanish speaking latinas, few weeks ago, back in Malaysia Airlines Academy, we have newly recruited Argentinean crew reporting for training, 4 of them. I guess EZE is doing quite well.
  4. From cabin crew perspective, MH A330-300 (except MKR ) - nice place to work - each zone with its own designated galley - "fast-heating" ovens - "fast flowing" water heaters/boilers - dedicated warming cabinets - many closets - BIG & WIDER galley top! - etc MH A330-200 and MKR - cramped galley - shared galley i.e zone b/zone c or zone c/zone d - slow-heating ovens - slow-flowing water heaters/boilers - fewer closets - etc Kudos to Malaysia Airlines very own galley/cabin designer/crew that makes our job easier.
  5. registration of the B777 aircraft that has been retrofitted are as follows :- 9M-MRA 9M-MRB 9M-MRC 9M-MRD 9M-MRJ 9M-MRL 9M-MRP 9M-MRQ and 9M-MRM On the side note, Paris became the latest destination that will see a retrofitted B777 (or NSD destination). Nov, 2005 Anyway, CDG would be advised accordingly via telex on whether the aircraft will be of retrofitted or not. +, please be advised that effective 31 October 2005, the NSD will commence on MH006/ 005 KUL/FRA vv.
  6. Nope Many Ex SQ girls now MAS girls told me
  7. You can try by:- - Walk-In-Interview - Write-In-Application During the interview, maintain your - Greetings - Grooming and establish - Communication - Inter-personal skills Once you "click" with the interviewers, nothing can go wrong. Then medical check up and after that, you'll be receiving a phone call from HR. Then you'll start your 4 months training at Malaysia Airlines Academy. Very demanding period. Exam, exam, exam all the way. MH cabin crew interview process is nothing/very easy one compared to SQ. But the cabin crew training itself is very, very demanding. Far more difficult than SQ. The best part during training, you get to meet MAA instructors from "hardcore"/golden girls generation. Very proud, very "garang" but very very nice people. like Mdm Melanie, former chief stewardess from grooming At the end of your initial training:- - 2 IOE (inflight observation experience) flights. 1 B737/ 1 A330 daily flight. - 7 SNY (supernumerary cabin crew appraisal) flights. 4 B737 (including 1 nightstop) / 3 A330 daily flights. Your cabin crew in charge for all 7 SNY flights will write a report regarding your appearance & decorum, inter-personal skills, service performance, general performance and job knowledge as well as personal comments. Then, graduation. After 3 months of flying, another exam paper for job comfirmation. If fail, another 4 months re-training. Anyway, if you need any assitance, just e-mail me okay. Take care.
  8. China nightstop PEK/PVG/XIY/HKG (SAR) LHR allowance ok la. KUL-ARN-EWR - 10 days trip almost RM 4000 KUL-FCO also not bad For a senior steward widebody, almost RM7K - 9K per month. Average for widebody crew around RM 4K - 6K per month. My Leading Steward/Stewardess and senior told me la. As for myself, my highest allowance to date is RM 3.6K excluding basic salary, laundry allowance and incentives. Average around RM2.5K to RM3K ++. Paling teruk pun RM 2000.
  9. Xian - Nightstop flight and good allowance too We get our new roster on every 19th, 20th or 21st day of every month. Fixed roster, but we can "swap" our flight(s) with other fellow cabin crew (same rank/category). As for "subject-to-change", it happens occasionally. Stewardess always got "good" roster one. minimum sectors, good nightstop and good allowance. We can only do (maximum ) 5 "juice" or short sectors per day. Or 2 "meal" sectors plus another 3 "juice" sectors as per contract/agreement/MASEU. My next safety class is due on next year.
  10. KUL-IPH-KUL-PEN-KUL on July 8, 2005. A330 Nightstop:- IST/BEY/DXB/KHI/PEK Daily flight:- HYD/BLR/CCU/CTU/XMN/KMG
  11. Pieter, At the moment, regularly, after many months of nightstop in West Malaysia stations. Just came back from 5 days trip BKI/KCH. For now, BKI/KCH/MYY are my second home. My next BKI night stop:- 18 NOV - MYY/KUL/LBU/BKI - STA 2220 19 NOV - BKI/SIN/BKI - STA 1935 20 NOV - BKI/HKG/BKI - STA 1835 Yea we could meet some day.
  12. Walter, children giveaway - normally 16 units per flight ex-kul. But then again, depends on the sector, stock, and uplift from the catering/inflight services. plastic plane - I am not sure. Never saw one onboard my long haul A330 series flights to date. Sing Yew, I've been working for MAS for less than a year now. We hardly get rostered for IPH and BWN sectors. I did my first and only IPH flight to date, back in July and BWN last month but never night stop in KBR
  13. Malaysia Airlines will not join any alliance after its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) agenda is accomplished. One of the four objectives after mission accomplished is ... a global alliance. They told us during the IOSA briefing for cabin crew and Malaysia Airlines staff at Malaysia Airlines Academy months ago. As part of the programme, Malaysia Airlines currently is conducting/beef-up its safety audit or flight check on selected flights for its cabin crew. But then again, Idris Jala and new people are coming, let's hope they materialize this urgency (alliance) as soon as possible
  14. Thanks Walter. I am a cabin crew, as a D-Fleet/Narrow Body local flight steward to be exact (Operating 2 types of a/c - B734 and A330). Requested to join local Q-Fleet crew (Operating 3 types of a/c B734,B738/A320 and A330) so no need to join the WB Conversion class scheduled for coming months (B744, B772, A330/A380) I hope to see you and any members of MyWings.com onboard my flight Anyway, we can only operate a maximum of 3 types of aircraft per one year SEP license. With the arrival of A380 soon, wide body crew (except for supervisory crew) will no longer operates the A330 series. That's the latest rumours from Malaysia Airlines Academy & CCTS.
  15. Few that I know: - "Take My Breath Away" - Berlin/Top Gun Soundtrack - "Change The World" - Eric Clapton - "Cadbury (as we called it onboard) " - from Cadbury TVC Theme - and few more. Mostly world music.
  16. For cabin crew rostered for B738, our B738 aircraft visit and cabin familarization is on 29 october
  17. "Jambu Air" (Guava Juice) for GCC still got On the side note, the Deepavali & Hari Raya Boarding Music is to be played on the A330-300/B737 fleets from 26 Oct to 14 Nov 2005. For B777-200, B747-400P & A330-200 fleets. There are 4 different selections of boarding music for the abv fleets which will be programmed by MAS Engineer. For Deepavali & Hari Raya Boarding Music, Engineering will programme it as flws: - Track 1 - Boarding 1 - Track 2 - Deepavali & Hari Raya Boarding Music - Track 3 - Boarding 3 - Track 4 - Boarding 4 After the above period, the boarding music will be programmed back to normal as follows : - Track 1 - Baording 1 - Track 2 - Boarding 2 - Track 3 - Boarding 3 - Track 4 - Boarding 4 Thanks.
  18. There are 3 types of children giveaway on long wide body flights ex-kul:- 1 - "Butterfly Soft Doll" (something like beanies beans) for infant. 2 - "Blue Bag" = colouring book, box of pencil color, jigsaws, calculator, organizer, paper clip for 2 y/o - 7/8 y/o. 3 - "Green Bag" = cd folder, organizer, calculator, jigsaws, pen, paper clip, handphone/key lanyard for 8 y/o - 12 y/o. Nicely designed and very good quality. As for the sweets/candies on domestic/short flights, yea there are no children giveaway. But as an initiative, cabin crew will always (or sometimes) offer sweets/candies and amenities bag especially to mothers with children/infant. (non s.o.p) And during meal service, we always serve mothers with children/infant first (non-s.o.p). By procedures, only CHML (children) and DBML (diabetic) pax serve first.
  19. Yes Isaac. For MAS B738 cabin crew, they also need to sits for another Safety Emergency Procedure (SEP) Exam as our SEP license not valid for OK registered aircraft. Yea, I think some of them are hot.
  20. Pieter, most of them or about 99% of them are female. So far la, from my own observation, I only saw one guy. I met them at Malaysia Airlines Academy few weeks ago. Nice sexy and long legs! On the side note, only 300 Malaysia Airlines crew rostered for 738 for 18 months.
  21. No more Shandy/Sandy. As for beer (from local uplift stations), we only have Tiger and Carlsberg for all flights. Anchor, no more also. But depends on the route and uplift station too. OZ route sometimes Foster, Taiwan route sometimes Taiwan Beer and etc.
  22. Your most welcome Rozhan. On most B734 flights, it is not that we do not want to offers or gives peanut to our economy class passengers. It is only because peanut is not a standard uplift for economy class on B734 flights. We usually place an order or request or commonly known as uplift among us cabin crew, at any of these four uplift stations in Malaysia, KUL, PEN, BKI and KCH. For KUL, they (the catering) only uplift as per standard operating procedures, no peanuts for economy class. But most of the time economy class crew will “curi†(stole) some from GCC. Same thing goes to playing cards. For example, as per flight and standard operating procedures (B734), we only carried 4 cans of Pepsi (in EY), (all these for GCC) 20 packs of peanut, 10 packs of playing card, 20 pieces of postcard, 5 sets of writing pads and etc. Unlike KUL, BKI is a different story. Any extra uplift we request, we always get it (most of the time). Hence when a passenger asks for a Pepsi, we can afford to give a whole can of Pepsi to them since we have extra at the back. (non s.o.p) And it also depends on the cabin crew in charge. Good In-Flight Supervisor or Leading Steward/Stewardess will normally ask for extra items from catering, normally mineral (pepsi/7 up/ginger ale/soda club etc). For example, one whole carton of Pepsi and etc. (non s.o.p) Plus, a good and dedicative crew will reserved some peanuts, candies and cookies for hand-made children give away (depending on the number of children) onboard B734 as MH do not carried any children giveaways onboard its narrow body flights/short wide body flights. (non s.o.p) We have limited items onboard, hence cabin crew discretion are advices Anyway for long wide-body flights, they have plenty of peanuts and should go with one round of juice, beer and peanut before meal service as per s.o.p. Even for BKK/CGK airbus flights, they have plenty of peanuts. But then, it is a "rushing" sector Rozhan, since you are a collector. We have newly designed pen made by Staedler. Nice and modern looking pen if you ask me. Now available on most flights ex-KUL. Digital IFE menu, wow, cool idea. Dilmah Tea, World's most expansive/exclusive tea from Sri Lanka Originally catered for GCC now available in all classes. Plus, Rooibos tea from South Africa for first class pax. But for Teh Tarik, we still prefers our very own Lipton Yellow Label. I think Dilmah offers an attractive deal for MH. Just like Pepsi, when they "buy" MAS cola deal from Coca Cola few years ago. Yes, even in GCC (all domestic flights) no more alcoholic beverages.
  23. Yes Mandarin is a language. Maybe to avoid confusion? As the label in folder room goes by nationalities. - Chinese for Mainland China. - Indonesian for Indonesia. - Japanese for Japan. - Staff ID for Malaysian. - etc Mandarin crew usually operates taiwan routes. So they have separate folder for roster, memo and circulars regarding taiwan routes/in flight services/s.o.p and etc. At the same time, I think CCLOPS (Cabin Crew Line Ops) do not want to distinguished Malaysian by their races. After all, we all Malaysian
  24. Your most welcome. Yes Malaysia Airlines CFSS or Chinese Flight Stewardesses are from Mainland China. While Mandarin Crew Flight Stewards/Stewardesses are Malaysian. In our folder room we have section for Japanese, Chinese, South Korean, Mandarin, Indonesian, Indian and local crew. As per new contract, all foreign crew to be base in KUL and not at their native country. So I'm not very sure. Maybe we still have few permanent mexican or spanish speaking crew as per old contract just like the south african crew. I'll try to find out. Thanks.
  25. Aircraft Registration & Configuration: OK-TVC - 16GCC/ 150EY OK-TVD - 16GCC/ 150EY OK-TVQ - 16GCC/ 150EY Unlike Malaysia Airlines’ fleet system wide, which have standardized galley & cabin area, equipment and amenities, these leased aircraft comes in many different (galley) configuration (just like MH 332). Some with screen, some are not, some have extra galley and etc. The worst part is that in economy class galley, there are only 4 steam ovens. Each oven can accommodate 32 hot meals (or aluminum foil). Since economy class can accommodate 150 passengers, and let says if one or two ovens when kaput (unserviceable)… it is a nightmare for cabin crew especially for short and rushing sector like BKK. Anyway, on the bright side, the Republic Czech purser will do most of the galley job. Malaysia Airlines Cabin Crew in-Charge, our Leading Steward or Stewardess will take in charge of service while the Republic Czech Purser will take in charge of safety matters and make less contact with passengers. Temptation in-flight shopping brings cash for MAS and extra cash (sales commission) for cabin crew what Thanks.
