  1. As the holidays are near, MEL is especially busy during NOV-FEB, its not uncommon to see airlines filling their seats fast during this period, many are already booked out on certain days! BI are marketing themselves as a boutique airline and many people exMEL take advantage of their fairly priced fairs going to Asia and onto LHR. Information can be taken from the ABS website (although not public)
  2. Their loads out of MEL have been doing very well, most flights have been up to near capacity, can't wait to welcome their 787's here and can't wait to see what new product offerings they will have onboard !
  3. Let's just wait and see, I'm pretty sure we will at least see 2-3 more changes to A380 schedules before March 1! I have completely lost faith in MH and their management, however I still think their crew is still one of the best out there.
  4. SYD, NRT & MEL won't be seeing the A380's anymore according to the latest GDS display, it seems MH is throwing away kangaroo traffic by merely just placing regional aircraft to MEL & SYD, their A330's are no match to SQ, QF, TG & EK's flagship A380 services. Much to the excitement of OW ff's in Australia they are now only disappointed by the latest decision, many were waiting to fly with MH once they joined OW. MEL has x2 SQ A380, x1 EK A380 & x1 QF A380 onwards to Europe SYD has x2 SQ A380, x1 EK A380, x1 QF A380 & x1 TG A380* onwards to Europe Not sure how MH will be able to compete with that, also harder for MH is QF OW ff's can simply hop onto EK to earn points and bypass MH completely to Europe. The A380 services would have helped MH to gain some passengers and would have made it more attractive.
  5. MH: 772, 734 AK: A320 D7: A333 VN: 772, 767, A321 QF: A380, 747, 737 JQ: A321 3K: A320 BL: 734 CX: A332 KA: A321 TG: A310, 777 TT: A320 DJ: 737 AN: 767, A320 ZG: 762, 763
  6. NRT & SYD will be launched next in NOV followed by MEL in MAR
  7. I think the A321's will do exceptionally well for PR, just look at VN, they have a sizeable fleet of A321's and with more on order and they serve as the workhorse for the airline regionally, it just seems to be the right aircraft for Medium and short haul flying around Asia. TBH I prefer A320's, they seem to have abit more room, giving a less squash feeling not to mention they look great! None of that unproportionate nose, tail fin wedge and engines! I think A320's in MH colours would look quite striking!
  8. Maybe wait until October ? Just a suggestion

  11. MEL has been added to the MH A380 schedule! This date coincides with SYD's transfer from 777 to A330. Flights are now bookable! Hopefully this move would allow MH to be more competitive against SQ who operates double daily A380's to MEL, EK's new A380 service to MEL and QF's current A380 service to LHR! http://www.routesonline.com/news/29/breaking-news/158602/malaysia-airlines-to-launch-a380-service-to-melbourne/
  12. The Y seats are basically the same seats, just new covers placed on top, the PTV's are pretty much the same old ones too. Would have been great to have seen the 77W moved to SQ237/238, to offer a more product consistency. I hope MH may see the announcement made by SQ as a threat, with the A380 on the late night departure on MEL now; SQ places both A380's on similar times MH departs MEL on both of MH's 2 daily flights. I am still hopeful MH flies an A380 to MEL
  13. http://www.ausbt.com.au/mas-mulls-melbourne-for-next-airbus-a380-route Comes after yesterday's announcement SQ is going double daily A380 into MEL
  14. Well theres not many, JQ, D7 and TZ are the main ones in Asia with Zest & Cebu also looking at going long-haul. I think out of the 3 dominant ones, JQ is possibly the most successful, saying that D7 has also been successful especially exAustralia and East Asia. At this stage its to early to tell regarding TZ as it only started operations last month.
  15. Some minor changes and alterations to the livery could have changed it significantly, I was expecting a much lighter Blue tone, it looks too dark for me, although I do like the silver lines, as others have said a much larger and centred wau on the tail would have been much better and visibly more appealing. I think having the engines painted full blue would also have made it better. Overall it's not bad but its a disappointment.
  16. Might be too big for SYD, but MEL, who knows .....
  17. Apparently MH will use the A380's to LHR & SYD (already confirmed) and possibly PEK & NRT no MEL (i hope MEL still gets them!)
  18. She's going back to tell her sisters how amazing their new home is Hopefully we get to see the MH A380's in full livery soon, i think we have all been very very patient to see them in their full colours!
  19. I read somewhere that MH will receive 2 more this year making it 3 A380's, and the rest to come in 2013. If I find the article I would link it here! But I'm not too sure if this information is right. Josh T for your sake I do hope that there isn't any delays !
  20. Congratulations to MH & Airbus ! I hope the A380 will turn MH around, making it a better and stronger airline! Can't wait to see MH back to its former glory! Secretly I hope MEL gets an A380 service too
  21. Im curious to know why MH hasn't placed an order for the next generation dual engine aircraft, those 772 need to be replaced somehow and adding new A332's isn't going to cut it. SQ and even VN have already placed their orders for both A350 & B787 aircraft, can we expect MH to do the same soon? They won't be getting them in at least 4-5 years unless they order now.
  22. I am very curious to how the proposed & confirmed routes are performing for MH, these routes must be the highest performing and most profitable for MH ? I also see that these routes compliment each other very well, MEL & SYD feeds into LHR and vice versa and also have significant yields. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing MH introduce F into MEL, apparently QF & SQ has been doing well F wise with their A380 flights exMEL. KUL - LHR [x1 Daily 744, x1 Daily 772] -> [x1 Daily A388, x1 Daily 772] KUL - SYD [x1 Daily 744, x1 Daily 772] -> [x1 Daily A388, x1 Daily A333] ? KUL - MEL [x2 Daily A333] -> [x1 Daily A388, x1 Daily A333] ?
  23. This will bring tears to my eyes if it is true! I emailed MH myself inquiring about the A380 flights, and got a response
  24. Congratulations to Park Royal Melbourne Airport for winning best Australia/Pacific Airport Hotel! Must make some Malaysian's proud !
  25. That livery is very elegant compared to it's Cargo cousins, will we be seeing these painted on the cargo aircrafts ?
