Seth, this also happens on the codeshare flights on Cathay Pacific, I don't know the other codeshared flight of CX with other airlines, but what I know/ met is that, last year when I was onboard flights to BKK and SIN, all the flights I have travelled with are codeshared with AA. When I get onboard, the annoucements welcomed not only the PAX of CX but also PAX of AA. So, I guess it is a kind of respect on behalf of the codesharing airline.

before SA join *A, it codeshared with CX for the JNB flight. However, the flight was no more codeshared before the SA join *A. and now the flight of SA of HKG/JNB is codeshared with OZ, another *A member. I have to memtion again, I really not know with the exact reason. It is all upon my own stupid mind thinking.
