  1. Something old, something new. Which one do you prefer: Something that Pieter should be quite familiar with: At the lunch hour I saw someone with a familiar looking cap - Air Asia. He looked friendly, and soon Pieter giving me the rundown of things . Thanks very much Pieter for that. There were lots of different liveries to see, many for the first time. How many tails can you identify? Some rarities (at least to me) This one made me abandon my lunch table and dashed across to the other side just to take this picture. Luckily all of stuff remained as they were, thanks to the nice Russian couple who agreed to look after them. They must be wondering what this guy was up to. To be continued.
  2. Here's a selection of some pictures I took from last year's visit to Amsterdam. It was an overnight flight, arriving in the early morning hours just before sunrise. First thing I did after the long flight was to dump the lugguage into the locker room at the basement. After breakfast, a dash to the viewing deck but alas it remained closed. After an hour of roaming round the terminal to lose time, it finally opened. I was greeted by a bitter cold wind and drizzle. But after travelling so far, die die must hang on.... Beer anyone? You gotta be kidding...brrr....brr I was impressed by the size of the viewing deck. You're just a stone's throw away and looking down at the movements! Wow! No reminder required of my location. KLM planes, lots of them, big and small. Also lots of KLM's alliance partner. I have never seen so many DC-10s in one place! Something not so common to Asians: a de-icing station. I watched as the crew do their stuff. Maybe I need a spray to defrost as well Look at the ice on the wings, don't play play. To be continued....
  3. Excellent night shots! Thanks for sharing.
  4. Yes, I will do that soon.. .... paiseh (local lingo=shy). Now scooting off for some spotting
  5. Sneeze, It was supposed to close last year but somehow it was delayed a few times. Maybe someone above is helping us. We were really happy and grateful that we still have the viewing gallery during the Asian Aerospace period.
  6. She flew using the FT IATA code - Siem Reap Airways 9999. After KL, she proceed to Singapore and eventually left the Lion Cty this morning.
  7. Sorry, missed your post. The T1 spot is being turned into an Emirates lounge. Ah...the power of money.
  8. I wish I have an answer to that. Let's wait and see. All I know is that there will be a viewing mall - how good or bad remains to be seen.
  9. Don't bother about the public viewing area in T2. It's on the floor above departure. Sad part is that no decent photo can be taken as it is housed in a glass cage overlooking the restricted area, with another glass in the front of the makan area.
  10. The glass at T1 is very lightly tinted. Not obvious enough to need colour retouching. Only a bit of contrast adjustment for some pictures shown here.
  11. There's always T3 to look forward to in the future.
  12. Sneeze, Which taxiway? There's always some areas closed for repair or expansion work.
  13. Qantas provided a dash of colour. So did Adam Air.. Then came the heavy cargo planes Rotate! A more modest sized cargo hauler dropped by. Another hauler. Time for the twins: in various colours... ....and sizes Stopping in front of the viewing mall. Have a Tiger on me. That's all for a couple of hours there. That was my last session at the T1 viewing mall. Sadly access to this spot was closed for forever at noon on 19 March. Hope you enjoy the short tour.
  14. Here's my first contribution to the Observation Hill section. 17 Mar Friday. Good weather, was on vacation leave so proceeded to T1 for some spotting. Passing by the Central Apron mall, ah Valuair pushing back. Note the Air Sahara with winglets in the background. Unfortunately later on, she taxiied to the other runway for departure. Turned left to the viewing mall just in time to catch the nose of NCA rushing for departure on 02L. A couple of departures, before she took off in turn. Then a Qantas jumbo was heading for the viewing gallery: One of SQ's 58 B777s returning to her home base. ....to be continued.
  15. Hmm...I thought the A380 nose looks like the fish in the picture.
  16. Hi Norman, Are you ex-ATC or still in service? Otherwise how to have the "cable' connection.... Small world indeed, I happen to know Haji Zulkifi as well. Say hi for me (or if Zulkifi you're are reading this, pse PM me.) Kwek Singapore
  17. Looks like gone forever It's been leased to Emirates for their new lounge, which I suspect will form part of the restricted area, so out of bounds.
  18. The old observation deck at T2 has been absorbed by the re-renovated departure hall in the restricted area. There is a new observation deck above this, but the view is terrible due 2 layers of glass (one at the observation deck and one at the departure hall) plus the sun shades.
  19. Thanks Pieter for the link. Hope to be back @ Schipol one day - but this time in summer! Really miss the freedom of the open deck on the terminal rooftop......and runway action. BTW the spotters in Singapore have just lost the sole runway spotting area in the indoor public viewing gallery at T1 earlier this week.
