  1. What a stunning capture. Pilot of UTair was quick to react. Could hear that person clicking away on the camera. Shots are definitely going to be a keeper.
  2. Spotting is fun, but what's more fun is when it starts to rain HEAVILY just a few meters before you reach the optimum location. Making the best of the situation, here's the outcome. IMG_4603 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-MLG - A leased aircraft IMG_4618 by sslee86, on Flickr PK-CLU - A touch of striking red to brighten up the pic IMG_4630 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AQM - Rain at its heaviest IMG_4650 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AJA - I seldom see them turning on the lights on the wingtips. Looks like such dark weather calls for it. IMG_4665 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AQW IMG_4678 by sslee86, on Flickr PK-LKU More coming......
  3. Look at the SIZE of those engines!!!
  4. Second half... Weather changed dramatically from a sunny day to a dark and gloomy day. 5. Nice closeups. Is a long zoom required for these shots? Saw a pair of F-15s flying overhead on the island, followed by a single Mig-29 a few minutes later.
  6. Some shots from last Monday's spotting trip. IMG_1517 by sslee86, on Flickr MASKargo A330-200F (9M-MUC) doing a go-around. Second time witnessing a go around. This one made one sharp turn very close to the runway. I guess it was too close and too high to align to the runway so it abandoned that approached and did a go-around IMG_1592 by sslee86, on Flickr MASKargo landing this time around IMG_1614 by sslee86, on Flickr Firefly ATR72-500 (9M-FYF) IMG_1622 by sslee86, on Flickr SilkAir A320 (9V-SLS) IMG_1631 by sslee86, on Flickr Tiger Airways A320 (9V-TAZ) IMG_1638 by sslee86, on Flickr Malaysia Airlines B737-8H6 (9M-MXJ) - Have not seen MAS' 738 for some time now IMG_1664 by sslee86, on Flickr Sriwijaya Air B737-524 (PK-CLO) IMG_1676 by sslee86, on Flickr Indonesia AirAsia A320 (PK-AXV) The half in the making...
  7. 22 years is a long time. It really shows how reliable the 734s are. All the PEN - KUL sectors that I've travelled on were on the 734. Never been on the -800 series. Spotting -400 was also a joy. It interests me how the landing lights are embedded into the flap pylons.
  8. Those wings surely are flexible, be it flexing upwards due to the lift generated or downwards due to a fire truck arm.
  9. SO close...can almost touch it. Great shots.
  10. B737 BBJ departed sometime in the afternoon while V8-ALI departed at about 5. Lots of interesting traffic for today.
  11. A nice surprise. Heavy rain currently though. Going to be difficult to get a shot. Any idea of the airport of origin?
  12. Thanks. Didn't see that one coming till it was really close. Have been seeing the police chopper doing rounds all over Penang Island in the past week. Sometimes flying quite low too.
  13. Mostly photos. Of course to enjoy the aerial displays as well.
  14. Ouch. Safe to say that everyone will be also aiming for cabin visits or new aircraft? Are there more aerial displays during the trade days? I saw in the itinerary of LIMA 2013 that the aerial display duration is more or less the same as those of the public days, though for the public days there are more slots. Don't want to be missing planes again for this airshow (like the A350 in Singapore Airshow )
  15. Want to ask those who have been to the previous LIMA exhibitions, is it better to go on the Trade Days or on the Public Days? I'm asking this based on the experience I had at the Singapore Airshow 2014. Trade visitors had more accessibility to the aircraft on display. Is it the same for LIMA?

  17. Nice Shots. You got the Cathay Cargo as well. Were you there the whole day? Is the "crash gate" near the bus stop? Don't think I have ever been to the place you got the Sriwijaya and Malindo.
  18. Hey Jonathan, didn't manage to spot you on Saturday. What time were all of you there? Here are my pics from the weekend spotting IMG_9321 by sslee86, on Flickr Firefly's first ATR72-600 (9M-FIA) with the Setia Livery IMG_9346 by sslee86, on Flickr FedEx MD-11F (N619FE) IMG_9360 by sslee86, on Flickr Eva Air Cargo (B-16462) - Have not seen a 747 this close for a long time IMG_9389 by sslee86, on Flickr Malindo Air (9M-LNK) IMG_9401 by sslee86, on Flickr AirAsia (9M-AQF) IMG_9438 by sslee86, on Flickr Malindo Air (9M-LMJ) IMG_9451 by sslee86, on Flickr Tigerair (9V-TAE) IMG_9457 by sslee86, on Flickr FedEx A300F - Putting full power and going around. One of the firsts for me. It did seem had a nose down angle some seconds back, before pulling up and initiating a go-around. More coming up.
  19. Oh, I thought it was heading back to Abu Dhabi. Does it mean that there's a chance of seeing it back in Penang soon?
  20. Same one, wow. Looks like a very looong return trip haha. Though I seriously doubt it was in China for that long. Must have bounced around at other regions before making a stop in Penang.
  21. Hopefully some MIGHT spillover to PEN?
  22. Saw the CRJ back in February.
  23. Thanks. Just happy to be able to be so close to it. The large winglets somehow add a certain level of elegance to it.
  24. Thanks. Would have loved to be at Subang snapping Air Force One as well.
