  1. Thought I'd share some spotting photos taken at the Perth Viewing Gallery. Runway in use was 03, which offered an amazing view of all inbound aircraft. Light was on and off though. However, was just amazed by the variety of traffic they have here (of course this is true as it is just my first time at the viewing gallery ) Cobham Aviation BAe146-300 (VH-NJP) The Fokkers here are like the ATRs we get back in Penang. Plentiful. Alliance Airlines Fokker 70 (VH-QQW) Skywest Fokker 100 (VH-FNY) A familiar colour. Indonesia AirAsia A320-216 (PK-AXX) Skippers DHC-8-314 (VH-XFV) Private BD-700 (VH-IQR) Regional Express Saab 340B (VH-ZLC) Skippers Fairchild Metroliner (VH-WAJ) Qantas Link Fokker 100 (VH-NHG) Another good thing about the location is that you get large aircraft taxiing right in front of you. Qantas A330-202 (VH-EBA) Qantas A332s Qantas B787-9 (VH-ZNG) Can now check this off my list. The Classic 717. Qantas Link B717-231 (VH-NXN) This special decided to pay a visit too. South African Airlines A340-313 (ZS-SXD) Maroomba B1900D (VH-NYA) Cobham Aviation E190 (VH-ZPT) Qantas Link Fokker 100 (VH-NHI) .... oh HI there Singapore Airlines A350-941 (9V-SHH) And now, familiar colours Malindo B737-9GPER (9M-LNK) Malaysia Airlines B737-8H6 (9M-MXE) Qantas A330-202 (VH-EBF) Singapore Airlines A330-343 (9V-STU) Would love to add more catches, but no thanks to Flickr's policy of limiting to 1k pics. Gotta start recycling some slots. Thanks for viewing. SSLee
  2. Dennis, I remember spotting them on a Saturday, so you just might be in luck. Nice catch of the Dreamliner. Still waiting for my chance. Back for another session after some time. Some new catches. This was the main catch of the day. The P2F A333 (Ex MH Bird). Look at how clean she is. The full length of the 330, without any chin blisters. Air Hong Kong A330-322P2F (EI-HEA) The freighter taxied fast enough to be in the same frame as the Korean 77F. Rotation of the 77F. Korean Air Cargo B777-FB5 (HL8285) It was back to back arrivals after this. Now to a few of the usual traffic. SilkAir's 738. SilkAir B737-8SA (9V-MGM) Easy way to rebrand. Stickers. Scoot A320-232 (9V-TRK) This next one was a real surprise. Seeing it on FR24 somewhere off Phuket, descending, meaning that there was a high chance it was headed to Penang. Coming all the way from Baku. She used the entire runway length. Silk Way West Airlines B747-4R7 (4K-SW008) FedEx B767-3S2F(ER) (N112FE) Here's the younger sibling giving way to the Queen. Ending this post with these two. Indonesia AirAsia A320-216 (PK-AXT) Here's to more fruitful sessions. SSLee
  3. Thanks for sharing. Looks great !
  4. Nice shots Dennis. If you are lucky, you can get a few of those DA-42s in a row. Seen a "fleet" of 4 of them from HM Aerospace making a stop here before heading back to Langkawi. PEN is one of their destinations for cadets to gain hours. Qatar's Dreamliner will be arriving at about 230 pm on Tuesday for their inaugral. (although probably not officially the first time as they did divert to PEN from KL some time back due to weather)
  5. Was wondering carrier that was on my flight to Subang last week. This one parked near ATC?

  7. Just enough golden rays to make it gorgeous. Lovely shot.
  8. Thanks Dennis for the kind words. Trying all different angles for shots. 2018 is going to be awesome Qatar is coming in February.
  9. Hey Dennis, very nice catch of MAC. Here are some of my catches over a few days. Had to do one flying overhead. Used a 10mm lens on a crop body. 10. Thanks for the heads up Flee. Went over but the flight was rather delayed. Missed the arrival. Did get some other traffic though. Will post them up soon.
  11. Could be due to the delay departure on the KUL-PEN leg. Delayed almost 2 hours. Not too sure as to what was happening in the KL side though.
  12. Nice one Dennis. It is a good thing that they are now doing works on TW A. Can get rotation shots at this point. Though judging by the distance it used, I'd say it was a rather light load.
  13. With the 350 popping in KL, KK as well as in Kuching, I guess it is time for Penang to be in the light as well. Approach Shot Malaysia Airlines A350-941 (9M-MAB) Malaysia Airlines A350-941 (9M-MAB) Malaysia Airlines A350-941 (9M-MAB) Very quiet for engines that large. SSLee
  14. Looks like they didn't use this bird for a long time. Only see NEF operating out of Penang.
  15. It is actually a nice place to spend your day at. The views from the observation deck are good too, though you may need 300mm or more for some shots.
  16. A trip to the airport a few weeks back. First time seeing a special-themed Thai Smile Thai Smile A320-232 (HS-TXQ) All departures had to use Taxiway Bravo Cathay Dragon A330-343 (B-LBG) Here came the NEO AirAsia A320-251N (9M-AGH) Visit Selangor Livery on this Firefly Firefly ATR72-500 (9M-FYE) Indonesia AirAsia A320-216 (PK-AXR) Malindo ATR72-600 (9M-LMU) All deployed. 17. Now one can assemble their own working life sized plane. One would either feel proud of being able to get their own plane in the air, OR one could be terrified and wonder if all the screws and rivets are in. Interesting catch nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
  18. This is such great news. And they're coming with the Dreamliner
  19. SilkAir inaugural 738Max flight now over Johor, to arrive at about 930. Too late to change my plans but to those who can, better go get it. Good luck.
  20. They visit Penang occasionally. If you're lucky, you might be able to get them flying out the following day.
  21. They really had to find a place to put that registration eh with all the designs. On a separate note, saw on FR24 an aircraft named A342 departed Penang and looks like it was headed towards Sarawak / Sabah area. Sultan of Brunei in town?
  22. I for one would be a patron if these places are set up here. I remember seeing somewhere that some airports have holes in their fences for spotters too.
  23. Not too sure as to why it was there. Could be for the event you mentioned. I know it is not a common visitor to Penang.
  24. Nice one Dennis. 9M-BBC has been operating in and around Penang for about a month now. And you are really lucky with the Mandarin 738. Nice weather, nice livery. Been raining on and off these few days.
