  1. Agree, but that was not the point of the two quotes. (Im waiting for someone to next compare the klia aerotrain with the shinkansen ...)
  2. I dont think it is an apples to apples comparison just because both are called trains.
  3. Of course. No different from AK using D7 aircraft to operate some of its services many months ago. In fact, any airline could use the ex-MH 380s.
  4. The train model or type used at HKG is totally different. Not an apples to apples comparison. That could explain the difference in durability.
  5. Changi used to have the same or similar model as KLIA but have replaced them many years ago with what you see today operating between Changis terminals.
  6. No, I don't think it is the "lack of a maintenance culture" that seems to be always associated with anything Malaysian. I don't believe that thing is meant to run almost forever like locomotives. It's old - and there's only so much one can do in maintaining old stuff that is used everyday and almost all day. If maintenance means replacing major parts, they might as well just a new one - which is long overdue. Any examples where this model is used well in excess of 2 decades, and happily chugging along everyday, all day?
  7. MAB believes in placing these jets outside of MAB for such charters. Hence, the new AOC etc etc.
  8. That thing is old. Its about 20yrs old. There is only so much maintenance that could be done. Getting on board is like getting onboard a boat, for instance. It needs replacement. MAHB management is pretending to be blind to the core issue and have only spoken publicly about various band-aid solutions. Maybe they are not pretending ...
  9. Bury the dead horse. Just get a new one. Why is the CEO of MAHB all quiet about this?
  10. Half-hearted indeed The replacement is already put into use. Same model, just a later built one. Not for the same reasons as MH, but CZs 380s were also for some time thumb-twiddling as well.
  11. And it is these airlines which charter tin-cans to operate such flights for them. So, you could get Lion air 330s, or VIM 772s etc filled to the max
  12. Well, apart from Saudia, theres NAS Holdings and Nesma. And if you dig deep enough, you will find royalty already entrenched. During umrah and hajj, you get these folks operating many flights as well.
  13. It happened long ago too with Petronas stepping in, paying for MHs sole 743, to facilitate the ditching of RR engines for the aircraft and the eventual switch to P&W powerplants.
  14. Im not a lawyer but I cant see where the CEO referred to other aircraft in MHs fleet as tin can. Based on my non-legal, lay-persons mind, the CEO was probably implying that most charters for hajj and umrah are tin cans. And MH can offer a better experience.
  15. The airline probably already did so, at start. I assume many of you did not realise it but MH's travel prayer typically shown on the PTVs at the commencement of the journey for practically all flights - emergency situation or not - also includes praying, essentially, for a safe landing. And it is practically the same prayer recited on BI, EK, KU, EY, QR et al.
  16. So you are sensationalising that MH isnt operating all its flights at max capacity at all times? And all other airlines are able to at all times?
  17. -MAB would have operated the second MH 359 service to LHR. So, no occassion for spraying it.
  18. You do get satays on the SIN flights but yes, I get your point. Like, theres nothing in the Airbus manual about how to serve satays onboard A359s on flights to Europe ... so, it could have affected flight dynamics and so on.
  19. Only if the Managers are dilligent enough. According to a friend on the inaugural MH4, the caterer(s) - Pos Aviation and/or Awana - messed up big time. The signature dish - Satay - was missing onboard despite being offered on the menu. They were simply not uploaded! Talk about raining on the parade.
  20. Fabric. 1A is located slightly further upfront than the other three F seats.
  21. I thought Sunday evenings, the 359 does SIN; and BKK is not scheduled for Fri and Sun. Retaining row 1 is no longer uncommon these days. Seems MH has been allowing folks to retain the seat.
  22. Havent seen one of those in while. Is it one of Westars?
