AirAsia clinches deal to sell planes portfolio for $1.2 billion

 

KUALA LUMPUR/SINGAPORE (Reuters) - AirAsia Bhd is selling up to 182 Airbus jets to firms managed by BBAM Ltd, one of the world’s largest aircraft lessors, in a $1.2 billion (873 million pounds) deal that will help the Malaysia-based airline cut debt and give it firepower to expand further.

AirAsia will declare a special dividend from the sale of the leasing arm, which essentially means this sale basically funded Tony and Kamaruddin's share purchase.

 

Extremely smart businessmen.

 

It is basically part and parcel of corporate game of enrichment. could expect more re-structuring in the future.

Yes, high flying executives seldom rest on the laurels. You will find them moving from one project to another - they seem to want to do everything but not focussing on one thing. But don't let them pull wool over your eyes. They want you to look at something while they are working on something else. That is one of the reasons why analysts don't get it while businessmen like them keep making more and more money!


And best of all, they are doing it with other people's money!

AirAsia sells 25 aircraft to Castlelake for RM3.2b

 

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 24): AirAsia Group Bhd is selling 25 aircraft to US-based global private investment firm Castlelake LP for US$768 million (RM 3.2 billion)
This will be carried out via the sale of AirAsia Group's entire equity interest in Merah Aviation Asset Holding Ltd, held by the group’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Asia Aviation Capital Ltd (AACL), to AS Air Lease Holdings 5T DAC, an entity indirectly controlled by Castlelake.
“In addition to the sale of shares of Merah Aviation, Castlelake will also purchase from AACL, a total of four new aircraft to be delivered in 2019,” the group said in a statement.
