Fairul 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 the company where I work did KLIA runway analysis last June for the A380.. we use this machine HWD to do analysis on the strength of the pavement layers for the runways/taxiways and apron..this whole project took 5 weeks to complete.. below are brief description of FWD/HWD and some pics for you guys. Enjoy.. The Dynatest Model 8000 FWD makes it possible to treat pavement structures in the same manner as other civil engineering structures by using mechanistically based design methods. Selecting the type of rehabilitation to be implemented on a given pavement is of considerable economic significance. To reach that decision without an adequate knowledge of the structural condition of the pavement may have very costly consequences. The use of a Dynatest FWD enables the engineer to determine a deflection basin caused by a controlled load with accuracy and resolution superior to other existing test methods. The FWD produces a dynamic impulse load that simulates a moving wheel load, rather than a static, semi-static or vibratory load. These developments allow the use of mechanistic approaches to analyse FWD data. Advantages: A non-destructive test device. One man operational. Accurate and fast (up to 60 test points/hr). Wide loading range: FWD: (7-120 kN) or (1,500-27,000 lbf). HWD: (30-240 kN) or (6,500-54,000 lbf). Designed for multi-purpose pavement applications, ranging from unpaved roads to airfields. Excellent repeatability. Ideal for mechanistic/analytical design approaches. below are the pics.. p/s: i didnt get to joined them sinced i start to work here few weeks after this project..some more..MAB security very strict one.. Walter Sim 1 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 lol, nice pictures regarding maintenance. Its rare to get a car roaming in the airport..
Denny Yen 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 I am interested in the 4WD. Nice design, is it a Malaysian made or overseas imported? I think its better looking than Honda's CRV and not as big as Ford Explorer or Nissan Xtrail.
Gavin Andrew David 6 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 Its a Ssangyong Rexton . Powered by a Merc engine

University mana ??? Saja tanya 12105 tak sure lak ade airport engineer..tp kalo ko interested ..bleh amik aeronautical engineering..if not..amik course airport management..kat Australian Uni ade this course.. Sanjay Thaker 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 i think airport engineering would be a cross between civil engineering and aeronautical...not too sure though
Nick R. 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 hehe..I tought KLIA use Rexton as a 'follow-me' car

Norman 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 Airport engineer? Is there such thing? .Can somebody explain? 12126 Airport Engineering is a branch of Civil Engineering, you specialised towards Airport Engineering in your Final Year or in your post-graduate courses.. Airport Management is totally different course. Aeronautical is more towards "flying" things rather than things that fixed on the terra-firma --

Denny Yen 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 Thanks Gavin. I like the 4WD, just the right size. Maybe its the color scheme. I suppose it must have cost around RM100K or more with import duties, etc.
Fairul 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 (edited) went to the pavement testing lab last month..took few photos.. saw this KLIA's runway coring sample...all the sample will be tested by this machine(posted below)...very expensive one..
