Royal Thai Air Force ATR 72 crash landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka

Recommended Posts

An aircraft of Royal Thai Air Force carrying 15 crew members skidded off the runway into a ditch at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday morning, injuring at least three.

Confirming the incident, airport’s control-tower officials said they gave the pilot necessary instructions during landing but, at one stage, the plane skidded off the runway.

The injured were given first aid after a team from Shahjalal Airport rescued them just after the plane crash.

Later, the airport authorities handed over the crew to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab).

The ATR-72 aircraft from Bangkok touched down at the Dhaka airport at 8:51am. Primary apprehension is that the pilot lost control because of a crosswind, said airport sources concerned.

Registration number is 60314, delivered 23/09/2009. What a sad ending for such a young ATR!!

He risked a lot by pushing the FO aside. May have caused a crash himself.
