Transmile Air now scheduled carrier at SIN

Recommended Posts

Starting today (30 April 2010), Transmile Air operate three times weekly on the Kuala Lumpur - Singapore - Kuching - Labuan - Kuala Lumpur routing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. At SIN, it lands at 0920hrs and departs at 1050hrs - great timings for photography!!!

Additionally, K-Mile was reported to have begun operating to BKK-SIN-BKK since February 2009 and in October 2009, a SIN-CGK-SIN operation was tagged onto this route.

Yeah!!! More B727s please. Further update: 9V-SFA of SIA Cargo has been sold to Evergreen International Airlines and has been painted in SIN. 9V-SFB is in all white livery and it remains to be seen if this too is going to EIA or another airline.

Here is Bernama's report:

SINGAPORE: Cargo airline Transmile Air yesterday began operation into Singapore Changi Airport, making it the first new airline to fly to the airport this year.

Airport operator Changi Airport Group (CAG) said Transmile Air would operate six weekly scheduled cargo flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur via Kuching and Labuan.

Labuan was also a new city link in Changi’s network, CAG said in a statement.

Transmile Air’s cargo operations would facilitate trade flows between Singapore and Sarawak, helping major shippers to tap global export markets via Changi’s extensive air cargo network, it added.

Transmile Air chief operating officer Robert John Hyslop said the airline’s operations from Changi Airport was especially ideal for the oil and gas industry, as Transmile would be able to accept shipments that were too large or bulky for shipping on narrow-body passenger aircraft.

CAG said cargo throughput at Changi in the first two months of this year had increased by 18.4% compared with the same period in 2009.

Last month, cargo grew 16.2% to 130,578 tonnes, it added. — Bernama

Thanks Kwek. Seems like I can't wait to get older. Recent weeks have been pure madness and time seems so short as I prepare for a return trip to Ecuador the day after tomorrow.

The Transmile B727 may be the oldest into Singapore ... but it sure is one of the prettiest jet in the air and on the ground. Hopefully someday Transmile does well enough to expand and who knows what else it may acquire. This means that when we next come up to KLIA, we could photograph Transmile's B727F taking off! Now that sounds terrible exciting already.
