A sad end to the Fokker 50 @ 'Borneo Cityhopper'

Recommended Posts

Guys,

While searching photos about the F50 crash in Tawau,i've stumbled upon this photo, and it saddened me:

Looks like her flying days are over;according to Aiman, this photo was taken somewhere around SZB main hangar or Complex B.

What a sad view for me :cray: My last flight onboard her was during FAX days (BTU-BKI-SBW).

No surprise, the day left for Fokker 50s to operate in MASWings is limited ....

I heard that the MH F50s were destined for scrapping. Anyway, my last ride on the F50 was on TWU - SDK - BKI a couple of years back.

Any news in regards to the crash of the F-50 in Tawau? Was it 9M-MGH?

Yes,it's 9M-MGH.Too bad there's no photo regarding to the incident.I remembered watching the headline photo of The Borneo Post on the next day (16/9/1995),the crash site was ablaze in flame, since the ill-fated plane crashed at a residence area.

Nope;that's Borneo Airways (1997-1999),with 1 Dornier 228 aircraft, registered 9M-BOR.Then the JV ended and all flights were suspended, and Borneo Airways disappeared from pages of Borneo aviation industry..The 1st Borneo Airways was founded in 1950s,and later absorbed into MAL in 1965,thus led to the formation of MSA.

I wonder if they would sell maybe the nosewheel. Maybe modify it as a coffee table.
