But who supply them? Solve that problem and I'm sure MAS will be on the road to profitability.

Radzi has said it.

MAS operations also need to be overhauled.. the present IT infrastructure at MAS is somewhat lacking in substance... very basic and as such, operational efficiency is hurting.. human resource management is another weakpoint of MAS.. needs to be addressed...

I think MAS needs to work more closely with MAHB, DCA and MoT to improve not only itself, but the overall quality of the aviation industry in Malaysia.. This will make us a key-player in the region and ultimately the world.

Overheads must be cut, efficient fiscal control implemented, TQM practices re-evaluated and most importantly, look after the staff and train them sufficiently to carry out their duties efficiently.. build mutual respect between management and staff (something that Idris has appeared to do wrt his meeting with MAS employees at the MAS Academy).. from the pilots and engineers to the airplane cleaners, MAS needs to resolve its human resources.

BE AN INNOVATIVE AIRLINE RATHER THAN A FOLLOWER!!! create niche markets. MAS is not just an airline, it's a national icon! MAS is malaysia's primary export to the world.. this is the image Malaysia presents of itself in every nation MAS travels to..

Rationalisation of the route network! IMPORTANT! Let's see something happen in this regard!!! Fly to more profitable destinations more often... but here is where MAS needs the governments help in securing additional landing rights and what not... negotiations must be carried out efficiently and professionaly.

Fleet review... too many aircraft types in the present MAS fleet.. this has plus points and minus points.. the major minus points is that higher costs involved in the maintenance of the fleet, a major plus point means exposure to a greater number of aircraft types and thus potential for MRO contracts to other carriers.. MAS should exploit this expertise it has, and not sell it! smile.gif

MAS can do a lot, and can recover.. in the case of Swiss, PanAm etc, they were under stiff competition from local carriers such as TWA, AA in the case of Pan Am and BA, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France in the case of Swiss... but the bottomline is that they all collapsed due to poor fiscal management!!! MAS should take note of this, RIGHT AWAY!

Have to agree with Radzi and Sandeep.

Fly more frequently to profitable destinations. SQ is apparently going to make ADL a daily service effective end of March.
