Leong Chuo Sheng 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) Hello everyone, I thought I would share some photos from Christchurch. It is the only(?) New Zealand international airport with an open-air observation deck, but this will soon cease as it will close in December 2009 as part of its terminal redevelopment program. Here are some of the pictures I managed to snap on my day trip (PMR - WLG - CHC - WLG - PMR) on Aug 15. Enjoy! The observation deck with the old control tower in front and the new one at the back...will be sorely missed! Busy domestic apron, with JQ coming in from AKL and ZQN Pacific Blue receiving push-back on its way to AKL The monster! Largest civil aircraft at CHC comes in daily from DXB - BKK - SYD Another view of the beast...note the blue-ish engine nozzle! A Q300 awaits its next flight to another regional destination... As my flight back to WLG approached, the already bad fog got even worse as it settled down further to the ground and it also started to drizzle and also got colder as well...to the extent that all I could catch was mostly like this: EK 77W going back to SYD at 1615 in the thick fog... That's all for now... If you have more pictures to share, please do! (Also, more pictures from other airports in NZ could do as well!) Hi Pieter, Thank you Currently there are no plans for a new obs deck at the new terminal...so I guess that AKL and WLG would be the ones in the future for in-terminal spotting Oh and I just spotted my transposition error in the title..it should be ChristchURch, not Christchruch as above. Can the mods help? Thanks
