  1. Maldives’ 87 resorts with a total of 20,000 bed capacity, have only about 700,000 tourist arrival per year. If Tioman is one of the 10 most beautiful in the world and only hoped to stand at par with Indonesia's Pulau Batam and Bintang? Hard to believe the local papers.
  2. Malaysia is not a close ally of the US and RMAF won’t be buying, it is unlikely that F-117A, F-22 or F-35 will be displayed at Lima 07.
  3. It cost money and resources to take part in air show. When Air Force (e.g. RAF or USAF) take part in foreign air show, it is either sponsored by suppliers (e.g. aircraft and engine manufacturer) or supported by States Department (to improve foreign and public relationship). The Malaysian government military procurement policy is inclining toward the Russia and only SeaKing replacement procurement is in pipeline. We can expect to see various helicopters and Russian aircrafts on display this year. USN and USAF may send A/F-18 Super Hornet, P-3 Orion, C-130 and KC-135 to Lima ‘07. RAF Red Arrows foreign tour is sponsored partially by BAe, so whether Red Arrows will be displayed in KL will depend on potential order from RMAF.
  4. All of you who got in by yourself should be proud. However, may I suggest you to gain a few years experience before you discount the reality.
  5. UL code shares with MH on KUL/CMB sector. By MH, it will take 6 hours to reach CMB via MLE.
  6. MH South Asia routes catering is always the same curry, curry and curry, year in year out. One of the most boring menu or don’t need menu for these routes.
  7. MAB is owing the Government about RM840 million concession payment, contact pier is half empty most of the time, building a new LCCT for RM1.7 billion by 2010 and extending existing LCCT, all at the same time. Find the numbers doesn’t add up. Guess like other projects in Malaysia, profit is made from constructing not from operating. http://investing.reuters.co.uk/news/articl...SIAAIRPORTS.XML
  8. KUL is one of the few airports don’t permit city taxi to pick up pax at airport. As the result, taxi fare to and from the airport is inefficient and expensive, typical third world mentality, a reason why KUL can’t be efficient, productive, successful like BKK or SIN. The ground transportation system (Star, Putra, KTM, LRT) in KL were built to make money from construction and not from operating, is another story.
  9. This A319 is painted in RMAF colour but operating under civilian registration. Either the government don’t trust the RMAF or is privatising RMAF. Although the pm office controls the use of RMAF VVIP fleet, by removing A319 from RMAF inventory, Sultan and Agong can’t even request to use the A319. Effectively, A319 will be exclusively for the pm. With so much of hanky panky going on, guess there is nothing unusual or unconventional in this country anymore. Anyone like to guess what NAA stand for?
  10. While advertising low fares and charging admin fees, fuel surcharge at the same time, find airline (MH, AK) misleading and abusive. Believe we need a strong and independent anti-monopoly commission for consumer protection.
  11. Mesti Ada Saudara A criteria for MH cadet.
  12. KLIA was designed to impress tourists (e.g. satellite terminal, skytrain), the need of business traveller or convenience was not the priority. On average it takes about 20 minutes for the first bag to arrive. For EY pax, average bag retrieval time is 40 minutes. The time and price to take either Taxi or KLIA express to reach city center is about the same. Due to price, distance and time to reach the city, few MNC keen to use KUL as their base for regional travelling. Hence, after 9 years of operation, KLIA hasn’t reach its expectation. As tomorrow is Sunday, we can leave your hotel at about 1430 hours to arrive KLIA by 1530 hours. As you can’t check in at KL Sentral, unless you wish to save RM20 or so, recommend you to take taxi from Westin to KLIA.
  13. Compared with MH, SQ cabin crews are more elegant. Most men feel intimidated or inferior by elegant girls, hence, find them less friendly.
  14. AK may be the largest LCC in Asean but certainly is not the most customers friendly. Cebu Pacific 5J is more civilised with assigned seats.
  15. Mas charter permit unprofitable operation and is seen as a job provider by the government, profitability is not a priority. However, Mas is a listed public company, some how the government has to make it profitable including grant to firefly and RAS. Most if not all of us have high expectation on Mas, but don’t expect it to be realised.
  16. Consumer protection in Asia is poor and non existent, been rip off left, right and center by price fixing. Believe Asian countries need strong and independent anti-monopoly commission to protect consumer interest.
  17. KUL/SIN sector is one of the highest if not the highest yield route, is the jewel of the crown for both SQ and MH, both airline will not give away duopoly without a fierce fight.
  18. Understand MH announced an interim bonus of half month or RM1000 which ever is higher for everyone to calm down discontent staffs.
  19. It cost about M$0.80 per liter to convert palm oil to diesel. Without Government subsidies or tax exemption, bio-diesel from palm oil can never be price competitive with diesel. Further more, supply of palm oil is limited, the demand for bio diesel conversion will drive the palm oil price even higher. Don’t expect EU or US Government to subsidies bio-diesel from palm oil.
  20. Believe Premium Economy is the current trend for long haul and MH should introduce on A380.
  21. According to DBKL bye-law; helipad is a requirement for all high rise buildings in KL.
  22. Didn’t know Russian equipment is better tested than European and American. Guess he is one of those calling to replace Army standard issue rifle with AK-47 or Land Rover with UAZ-469.
  23. Need to read the new ASA to find whether is just fifth freedom or beyond fifth freedom. If beyond fifth freedom, there will be huge pressure on MH and Air Asia X. Will be interesting to see how Air Aisa X will be competing with Jet Airways on long haul. It is a matter of time, Chinese LCC will join the bandwagon.
