  1. It's coming together now isn't it? At the stroke of midnight tonight, the RBD alignment exercise (should be to align closer to Oneworld codes) should be done. If anybody is planning to book an MH ticket TONIGHT - let me know and i will look up the fares PRE and POST alignment - but let me know in the next 1 hour and 53 minutes - some went up, some went down.
  2. If you know how to do it - with a rojak combo of tickets (none of which are too difficult to manage) - about 2,500-2,600 USD all in. Yes - the samples given were ex-BKI, all i'm saying is that as per the reply above - a combo of one ways, end on ends and potentially hidden city ticketing, you can get to Europe for not a lot in J, and that's ex BKI (or anywhere around here)... the thing to note - it's not ONE ticket you're buying I can't go into too many details, but these fares can be found if you look
  3. That's point of sale and captive market dynamics. MH is a lot cheaper ex SIN than SQ to LHR. Point is MH will always be more expensive ex KUL. Anyway those prices you quote are VERY expensive - wait till you see what some other people around the region pay for similar length flights during non-sale periods no less.
  4. For what it's worth - the shower spas are above M1L and M1R or thereabouts. No galleys underneath if i recall correctly.
  5. http://www.flickr.com/photos/airlinereporter/7560956134/in/set-72157630554889856 this photo shows it better
  6. Sure the short impressions i got of it were not overly bad. Just not cutting edge that's all. Don't get me wrong - just because it's not cutting edge doesn't mean it'll turn out to be a crap product. Anyway, belum cuba belum tahu - will get quite some miles on them this year and next looking at my forward bookings. Also will be interesting to compare it with SQ's, EK's and AF's (which i've flown already) and TG's and KE's which i will try in October and December respectively
  7. That is true. I had a quick 3 minute test last week before MH2 boarded. CX new J will beat this very easily. CX Cirrus is awesome Will get a 13 hour test middle of next month to draw conclusions
  8. Ah hahaha - oh that one - took me a year to get refund for the return portion. No , i just bought the air ticket, but it had to be done via the GSA. No excursions needed. My subsequent trips were on TG, and those i bought online. Also for the first trip i applied for a visa before hand, subsequently just got visa on arrival. Easier. It's not a difficult country to visit at all I would love to go to the mountains too, but city girl la.. not hardy enough to withstand. I did do the buddha air mountain flight though. Very worth the 160 USD.
  9. I guess the flight bookings part may be true - but to get into the country you don't need to have all that. I visited KTM three times in 2010 and 11 - very pleasant and interesting to say the least. Even flew on RA's 757 KUL-KTM one morning
  10. I flew into PPT with NZ - from AKL. Whilst in French polynesia i flew with VT (air tahiti), not to be confused with TN (air tahiti nui) - very expensive for such short flights.... I flew on one of the world's shortest regularly scheduled commercial flights - from PPT to MOZ (moorea) on a twin otter - 6 minutes flying time
  11. I've been to Papeete and Bora Bora. Crazy expensive. I remember everything just being beautiful but deadly to the wallet.
  12. At 5:48 in the Video the CEO says they'll fly it to SYD - I thought he said not so long ago they cancelled the idea?
  13. Some pics from the F side: http://www.sqtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12676
  14. The first class seats are from F-WWOW the demonstrator. And yes, the J/Y seats are SQ's
  15. Yep - they sit as liabilities on the balance sheet.
  16. 1) No - i do not know, however from what i hear it is in the order of fraction of cents per mile - very small, and nowhere near what banks pay airlines 2) These are preagreed - do not know the quantum, but the splits are roughly the same as per the splits on multi airline revenue tickets (if redeeming on two or more airlines) i.e. Most Significant Carrier takes the lion's share. 3) Yes and no - issuing carrier retains YQ, regardless of who operates. Issuing carrier pays airport authorities.
  17. Yes. But it works the other way around as well. Here's roughly how it works: Mr Josh T flies QF on a multi segment First class ticket, and presents his MH card MH credits mr Josh T's account with say 100,000 enrich miles. QF pays MH for the 100,000 points MH gave to Mr Josh T Then Mr Josh T redeems 100,000 enrich miles on CX. MH issues CX flight ticket on 232 (MH) stock - MH collects all taxes and deducts miles from Mr Josh T's account. Mr Josh T flies those flights as booked on CX, after which CX takes the coupon Mr Josh T "gave" to CX and check in and claims the "fare" from MH through clearing house.
  18. BAEC and QFF pax are NOT the ones you need to worry about. It's AAdvantage - and their lovely YQless awards
  19. That is true - it is kinda yesterday, not the best I've seen on an A380, but you know, my expectations are not that high. I'm just grateful that I can go somewhere. I've tried a lot of seats and planes, sometimes variety is also a good thing Maybe others who see MH's A380 J product will say it's not great. I'll be less harsh and call it "interesting"
  20. Bingo! At the end of the day i'd rather an A380 painted purple with yellow polka dots and a great interior with great facilities and crew than having the most fantastic livery but with 853 seats laid out in 29 inch pitch and an awful crew. Sure, the yellow polka dots may not make it pretty, but going to london i might spend 5 minutes looking at it from the outside at the gate, but I'll spend another 14 hours inside it. I know which one is more important to me.
  21. It's a bug - but not quite computer related as you might imagine. What it is doing is pulling from GDS a particular RBD (booking code) and applying the relevant fare to it, BEFORE looking at point of sale restrictions. That check happens at the next step and you find it can't be sold from the particular origin unless certain conditions are met - the one that CAN be sold to you is then displayed.
  22. I'm disappointed with the SYD delay as well, as I had booked in F to go over the Hari Raya Haji period - but look at the bright side. If you move it later (I moved mine to april 2013), when MH should be part of OW by then, you'll get to use the SYD QF F lounge... or you could do it in J, and hope that your MH G maps to OW E, and still use the lounge. I do however have a strange feeling that MH G will end up being mapped to OW S, MH S to OW R with only MH P mapping to OW E
  23. I know someone who turned down a joyride on the 5th of June cause she "not free" Oh well.....
