  1. BTW, this Govt interference allegations on MH policies and operations, is it a convenient Red Herring frequently bandied around as an excuse acceptable to the public? I know its overplayed. The Govt does have interest in MAS for obvious reasons, and its up to the CEO to navigate his way around such obstacles. When you have CEOs with backbones made of jelly, with extremely polite and accommodating attitude for the political masters, then the specter of Government interference becomes real. You cannot have this "Sit, RollOver, Beg & Fetch " type of canine Management leading MH. You gotta have Management with conviction, one who will say " I'm ready to leave if you interrupt my policies often enough. " BTW, Apart from the few I know are good, I will not touch any of the MH Higher Management with a 10 foot pole even if they offer their services for free in my Charter company.
  2. Ha ha. Shiver my friends, shiver........ My story to follow. My 30 years work destroyed in 30 months by Azmil and his Merry Men/Women of Very Smart MS PowerPoint driven People. Its OK for them, They will go on to Banks, Finance Houses, etc etc when MAS is in pieces. The longtime loyal staff, the reason for MH's excellence will suffer again. MAS, Master of shoving square pegs into round holes. Straight - Laced Accountant as CEO. Auditor to lead Business Units. Financial 'Experts' as Regional Sales. Engineers as Administrators. Greenhorn running Comms. MAS does not need competitors. Its on a path of self destruction. I planned for early retirement since last quarter 2010, and left 15th June 2011. I don't want to continue batting for a losing team that celebrates mediocrity, that continues to live in denial, clueless in entrepreneurship, and puts processes ahead of results. Where means are more important than the ends. A company that does not value staff contribution, preferring to lose its Soul in its erroneous path of syiok sendiri success. Do the Honorable thing Guys......be brave, leave, prove your worth in the open business world without the protection of your MH Given titles.....I dare you.
  3. Poor MH. Wish I can say more. BUT, I'll focus on making the kids happy tomorrow and Monday. In the meantime, I am laughing my head off....If anything the positions of MH VPs and above are all Contract Based so they can be terminated very easily.

  5. Jumbo Dream Flight 2011. AIM The Aim of the Event ; Bring Joy and Smiles of Wonderment to the Underprivileged. GENERAL Every year I organise a big Charity Event through my former Company. Thousands of Children have gone through the experience of a memorable and magical day having attended the event. Some of the children are no longer with us, their lives robbed by terminal sickness. There is nothing that can describe the feeling of seeing a less fortunate kid happy, more so if we are part of the reason why. Having retired last month, it was my hope this effort was to be carried on. Alas it seems pretty obvious to me that there is some amount of lethargy in that large corporation to get this going. While lack of creativity can be substituted by cash, it was apparent to me there is no driver for this, hence its never ever going to happen again. Rather than wallow in disappointment, I found a way to make this happen. Following consultation with various parties including friends on this page, I had sufficient confidence we can all pull this off. To make this happen several elements are required; a. Budget b. Opnl Plan c. Regulatory Approval d. Concessions e. Manpower f. Post-Project Report & Reconciliation EVENT SUMMARY We will pick up the Children from their respective homes by Tour Buses, arranged by AD Charters. We have budgeted for 5 buses, 4 for the various homes, 1 bus for the members who contributed along with family members who are following. The movement schedule will be detailed below. LAST WORDS i may have missed out a few things here so please chip in as and when required. So that's it guys/gals. If i don't bite the bullet and get this going, its never going to happen. Previously, when done through MAS, I had very little support from the Management. Not even budget. I held 5 big events, the Chairman and MD only came once. Hence, when I looked back, I knew this initiative will die off, the company busy doing other things....Now, even with the heavy load of having to top up the deficit should the funds fall short, I am happier than I'd ever be as I know, this event was pushed by sincerity, motivated by passion, held together by caramaderie, done in the interest of the kids and none other. It'd be nice for this event to be done by someone else next year...... Cheers Capt Nik Huzlan aka Xr Rider
  6. From SP Lee, who is assigned to collect the pledges/donations. Please forward any donation to the account below. Maybank a/c 114124107547, Lee Seng Poey. Please sms me your name/amount after you transfer to I can match amount to donor. 019 263 5257. MWingers who wish to make their way there on their own can join the event. Please PM joveylee@yahoo.com, pass your full name and IC number so airport passes and tickets if so required can be processed.
  7. Thanks all. We've had a short meeting with the BMW Motorraders and determined that the whole project will require a budget of RM32,000. RM11,000 goes to the 12 buses at both ends, and the kids expenditure for meals and accomodation is about RM17,000. We will need around RM5,000 for giveaways and 'duit raya'. There are some pledges of contribution coming in as I write this now. The contributions and expenditures will be posted so the accounts can be scrutinised. If there is a shortfall, my Charter Company will fill the gap. If we collect more than required, then the extra will be distributed amongst the Homes. Apart from the buses for the 150 children, I will also prepare one bus for the Motorraders and have reserved two seats for MWingers if anyone wants to do photo duties. You will RV the bus from KLIA, then go to TGG. Accomodation in TGG will be your own. Next morning you will fly back to KUL on the same flight the children are taking. Cheers.
  8. Guys, I am organising a Charity Flight Event for Underprivileged Children, much in the same mould as what i have been doing before when I was with MH. When I retired, I felt that this should continue, but I did not receive sufficient favorable feedback that gives me confidence that MH can undertake to run the event, as even interest for this is low in there. As they say, if you need to do it right, do it yourself. So this is the deal; aa. I have got a B747-400 operating from TGG to KUL departing 0800 from TGG local time. The aircraft is Ex Madinah. bb. I will be able to cater for 200 children. cc. I do not have much money for this event, but will foot the bill myself if I have to. dd. A number of my Biking buddies have already agreed to donate into the pool, and for that i ma very grateful. ee. I do not anticipate any form of assistance from MAS, but will continue to hope anyway. ff. This is how it will be done; Date : 7-8 August 2011 Event : Memorable Monday, A B747 Flight From KT to KL. Organiser : AD Charters Sdn Bhd, Motorrad Malaysia. Description : AD Charters will provide a B747-400, about 200seats, buses, accomodation in TGG, food for Buka and Sahur for the guests and will also cover all Transportation and Logistic arrangements. Apart from the Guests, AD Charters will also provide a bus for the support staff and volunteers who will assist on operationalising this event. MWings members who wish to follow/assist can do so. Busses will be provided to TGG. In TGG accmodation can be arranged but you will have to bear the costs as i only have money for charity. All will then join in on the B744 to KL, at no cost to any of you. If you guys wanna lend a hand, please advise early. I need to plan, and time is very short. I need all the help I can get. This is not just a Charity Event. This is THE Charity Event. Tonight we will meet at Showru Kelana jaya. Be There to be part of this. Cheers, Capt Nik Huzlan
  9. Don't understand the fuss......The A380 is just 15.5ft longer in span than the B744. Its not all that big compared to the B744. Its size jump is not as significant compared to the time when the B747 was first introduced in the late 60s.....
  10. Significant difference. The MH aircraft was almost static, so not difficult to fix. The A320 snapped aat speed.
  11. Enjoying life at Nexus Karambunai with family over the CNY being entertained by emails from 'important' people to other important people organising the rescue effort. Some solutions akin to scratching the left ear with the right hand via the back of the head. Its amazing how egos can rule while Malaysian lives are at possible peril. N. Azman : The aircraft was chartered to rescue BA crew from U Tapao to SIN. When we mounted the flight we even anticipated chaos at the counter so we even organised a weighing machine and MasCharter staff followed the plane to speed up check-in. By doing so the turnaround was like an F1 pit stop.
  12. Rights issues on a rescue flight riding on a G2G basis? Subcontract it to the MasCharter Team la.... We have done many rescue flights for foreign govts using MH aircraft operating from a third country to another country. These guys make our normal day to day activities sound like big time drama.... I see impending chaos...due to unanticipated ( which can and should be anticipated ) issues related to departures as well as arrivals if Jeddah was to be used....
  13. The first aircraft that flew U Tapao was a B737-400 organised by MasCharter. We flew two flights one day before anyone else, and did it so seamlessly and quietly that even MH management was not even aware when the main operational team started planning rescue flights 36 hours later. That was rather funny, and more than a few people I know became upset with us at Charters.....he he he. The same with the post Tsunami event. Mascharter flew in a 7 person CNBC news team and carried food and medical supplies. We even brought our Chairman along. That B737-400 was the first foreign aircraft to go into Banda Aceh. There were some ruffled feathers that was quite upset with us but they became friendlier when they found out that Chairman came along.....he he he
  14. If this report is unverified then one local airline I know may be liable for spreading rumours about the incident....
  15. If only the truth can be told about the rescue effort...in the meantime roll on the entertaining banter.....
  16. Great Story, heartwarming, touching....but if this happened in an Airline I am familiar with, a few months later the Pilot will be called up to explain the delay, and he will be punished by a KPI chasing Management guy, charging him for willfully delaying a departure. It will lead to an inquiry where the Pilot will be found guilty. Why he did what he did will be treated as mitigation.
  17. Cheap not good, good not cheap. We lost this Charter due price. We have been carrying UN Troops to Dili from KL numerous times with no problems, transiting Juanda for a fuel stop. we also carried Philippines Troops with full weaponry to Dili from Manila with no problems when transiting Ujung Pandang.
  18. Interesting to see Tabung Haji accepting the A330. That type is payload limited for the route. First flight out and pallets and containers are left behind due MTOW limitations. Second flight delayed 4 hours. Even more interesting things will take place on the return leg of the Haj. Hotter temperatures, and pilgrims with heavy bags. Cheap Not Good, Good Not Cheap........... C'est la vie......
  19. We would normally open the ferry sector for sale but for this year the schedule approval from the Saudis were delayed so due insufficient lead time we are unable to do so.
  20. First flight for 9M-MPQ will be MH8000 departing KLIA 1115hrs, Saturday, 9th October 2010, heading for Madinah. I want to thank members of this Forum for all the good wishes posted. I also want to thank the Forummers who have not only commented but accompanied their post with useful information and suggestions. Some of you guys really know what you're talking about. I am truly humbled by your intellect. Keep it up. Being inside there will be occasions we inadvertently look at colors with our tinted glasses on. That's when you guys from the outside can help with your differing perspective. Cheers.....from MasCharters
  21. True. But that's spotting the negative. What is not shown are the EY seats that has the most generous legroom, surpassing even the First Class. These seats will be coveted. Some see it as half full, others, half empty. The seat material is new, but the design and color are old. And we shot down any moves to go the MnM's way.
  22. MAR wrote some very clever and pertinent questions; # The choice of MPQ was circumstantial. Suffice to say that it has something to do with the differing Lease Terms and end-financing agreement for the older B744 in the MH fleet. # The Haj is seasonal. The Umrah is all year round with peak and low periods. # Being dedicated to Charter Department need not mean the aircraft will be used for purely for Charter Operations. There will be plans for tactical forays to tap periods of peak travel on International routes especially the ones the LCCs are operating on. The lower cost per seat cost will allow a ticket price target of 20% above LCC but with no other hidden cost. # The drop in utilisation is expected for THIS aircraft, but the average utilisation across the B744 fleet will actually increase. # The future plans for the B744 fleet are not for public consumption. # Almost everything that has been installed in MPQ are excellently refurbished with great attention to detail. The RM6million spent also includes the 26 day downtime cost, manpower and facilities costs, and not just for hardware purchase. # And the money will be recovered in just 1 Haj season. Hence, even after a two year period, the cost of another reconfiguration exercise if required by the aircraft end customer is more than covered. Besides, the window of operation for Haj Operations can only allow any aircraft to do 24 rotations per phase, and a bump in capacity by 95 seats means an extra 2400 pax can be carried. # There will be product conflict only if we market it as a 5 star product, which the MasCharters is cognizant of, and for that reason we are not going to do that. If my plans are followed through, economy passengers can expect to pay a slightly higher price compared to the LCC, but enjoy all the trappings of a traditional airline. # As for marketability, I am happy to say that 2/3 of aircraft time has already been presold for 2011. And that's for the first year of operations. The romance in aviation is dying. The LCCs has expectedly transformed the landscape and killed of the need for romance and luxury in air travel for most people. In a few years from now even the IFE in the aircraft will be not as popular as a powerpoint on every seat as everyone has a laptop full of movies, Mp3 players, PsP, Nintendos, Ipad and its competitive counterparts.... A large majority just wants to travel as fast and as cheaply as possible. While we know this market segment is willing to be treated less than averagely, there is also a large portion that wouldn't mind paying a bit more for better service, departure and arrivals using aerobridges, guaranteed schedule integrity, and flying with an airline that is not too calculative. I have my wish list. One of it that I can share is that the B777-300 purchased second hand would be ideal as it offers close to B747 range and pax capacity but with a fuel burn of 40% less. Then the ability to market our products independently. And removal of embedded costs. And plenty more wish lists too numerous to list here, most of which are obvious and simple, some a little complicated, the rest almost a pipe dream. In a large corporation, when plans like this fail, its one person's fault, if it succeeds, then its the corporation's success. So cheers and wish this venture luck.
  23. This is so cool...... And fun and entertaining..... and so "Soulplane" BUT safety IS a serious issue, so don't know what the ICAO Regulators think about dancing in airplanes. Then there's the copyright issue of using the song for commercial purposes. The movements and gestures by the FAs in all airlines are synchronised to the pre-recorded safety narration or the live scripted narration of another narrator, usually a member of the crew. The gestures are designed in such a way so passengers who do not understand the language of the narration can still relate to the gestures of the FA. In fact the Demos should be understood even if there was no narration. I think it would be tough to get our DCA, or the DCAs controlling 'mainstream' airlines to pass this through. In countries where there is a culture of suing even for the slightest perceived error ( for instance, the country that managed to put men on the moon ) this would be 'Liability Central' and every lawyer with a legal certificate will hover at any crash scene where emergency evacuation or decompression played a part.... By the way, this airline, which started operations 22 years ago had a CFIT accident in 1998 killing all 104 on board. It was also banned from flying into European Airspace since 31 mar 2010. IMHO, there are many other creative ways to make flying fun without impinging on the integrity and sanctity of Flight Safety.
  24. 9M-MPQ reconfig exercise completed and aircraft declared Ready for Service 2000hrs, 28/09/2010. It has been a long ardous journey. We hope to do RM300 Million for 2011. Not bad for a department set up and run by an MCE graduate supported by 18 loyal hardworking staff with 170 Stewardesses and 30 Stewards. Norman is coming for the aircraft launch in "official" MW capacity, to be held at KLIA at 1000 hrs 5th October 2010. I am open to two more interested members. Just PM me. Cheers
