  1. Maybe they had no slides and everyone had to jump!! Haha....nothing surprises me anymore.
  2. Always makes me laugh when planes run off the end of the runway and they blame it on the weather. You can just imagine the conversation in the boss's office. Captain: "I wasn't my fault we ran off the end. It was due to the weather. It was raining" Boss: "Ah thats ok then. Have a nice day"
  3. Definately not Focus Air. Maybe the KLM-like 747-300 is actually the 742SUD which has been stored in Jakarta for a few years? Has that become what I saw? GMG airlines is supposed to be getting 743s soon, but it was not their scheme. Any ideas?
  4. Yes thats the one!!! Definately not Airbridge and definately not Air Atlanta, although I do not believe they have any 743s painted with blue engines anyway. Any contacts in MH Engineering? I would be very interested to know about this one!
  5. On thursday evening arriving into KUL I noticed in the lefthand side of the MH hangar a 747-300 with P&W engines. It has dark blue engines, a dark blue tail with some sort of an elongated white logo and titles in an alternate light and dark font. When I passed through on saturday morning, the hangar was empty and I could not see the plane anywhere. Does anyone know what I saw? It did not resemble anything I recognised. A Hadj charter perhaps? Thanks!
  6. I believe that the winglets save 2% of fuel. A standard 744 is allowed to fly with one winglet missing as long as the fuel flow is adjusted...presumably by 1%!
  7. Sorry, here is the photo. I took a few as well which I will upload to JP shortly. 9M-MPI in Sydney
  8. There is a photo of 9M-MPI in Sydney taken Dec 7th also missing it's left winglet!!
  9. Hi chaps, Just wanted to let you know that passing through KUL this morning we parked next to 9M-MPL which was missing it's left-hand winglet. Something to look out for! I took some photos but have to edit and upload first!
  10. Passed through KUL this morning on my way back to HKG and it was still sitting there, next to an Atlas 742F.
  11. CX are very flexible with their regional flights and can change aircraft type even a couple of hours before the flight if the loads change to suit a different aircraft better. It is one of their flexibilities which help the airline stay so efficient and profitable. From KUL-HKG, the 777 is unusual apart from the CX720/721 which is always a 777, or at least it is on the days it goes to PEN. On the days where it night-stops in KUL I think it is almost always 777 but I cannot be 100% sure.
  12. This was 9M-MKJ and after airborne they found they could not retract the gear so they returned. The aircraft departed the next morning about 24hrs later.
  13. No slow down for the ANA 744s to Oasis. Second one is still due in October as originally planned. I have heard that the Malaysian lease has been cancelled by Oasis despite it being painted already. Has anyone heard anything?
  14. There are no plans for a low cost terminal in HKG that I know of. Where did you hear this information?
  15. CX is considering the 787-10 however it looks like the figures for the -10 are not as impressive as the other, shorter versions. By stretching it that much some of the superior performance is lost. The A350 however looks to be a fantastic plane, although it's design freeze has not even happened yet, so the figures Airbus are giving CX must be taken with a pinch of salt and CX knows this. They are not close to announcing an order for either.
