  1. While waiting for her to depart from 0400 this morning, mosquitoes had me for sahur. She finally went on her way at 0630. Typical of older Russian engines, she was holding her positing for about four minutes before taking off.
  2. 6 years ago. Malaysianwings 6th Anniversary Rest In Peace Uncle Pieter.
  3. Pieter C. Alderden, or we fondly call him Uncle Pieter, has passed away today in his home in Netherlands, after battling long illness. A jovial person and loves our tropical sun. One cannot miss his presence in the spotting crowd as he is always turning red under the sun. That's why he was known as the Red Lobster. He was our member #22 and a strong supporter of mwings. For the past 11+ years, he has contributed a lot to the community and hosted some of us in Netherlands. Therefore, in memory of this man, please join me to pay tribute by sharing some of your memorable pictures of him (whether spotting, over dinner, etc) here. Let us not forget our dear friend, Uncle Pieter.
  4. Hon Kit has the left view. Here is the departure right view video
  5. More from the ground and to the air. Look at who is inside the tow truck? Once the seat belt sign is off, most of us would stand and walk around taking pics Happy and relaxed passengers OD's SnackBox A full view of the engines and winglet
  6. Welcome onboard Interesting ownership What is inside the seat pocket.
  7. Water canon salute video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxBPdGk0sB0
  8. See how Azahan takes his nose pictures These winglets are called Advanced Technology (AT) Winglets that is specially for the 737 MAX. Scimitar Winglets are made by Aviation Partners to retrofit existing 737 NG blended winglets to mimic MAX's AT Winglets. More info can be found here. http://www.b737.org.uk/winglets.htm VIPs went around to have a look at their newly acquisition. Group photos are a must We went back to the function room to have a quick press conference and momento exchange. I was then time to go to our boarding gate G4. Malindo Air staffs gave us goodies bag as a souvenir. We are all ready to board
  9. Not King Spotter la... Hon Kit. There are others worthy of this 'Crown' LOL First To Fly In The World Boeing 737 MAX 8 with Malindo Air (will be known as Batik Malaysia by H2 of 2017). We are very thankful to Malindo Air for inviting mwings to cover this event as well as being part the first 180 commercial passengers to fly the inaugural 737 MAX in the world. A summary of the event timings 0800 - Guest Arrival & Check In at counter E1. Event ceremony Gate G1 0830 - Arrival of Dato' Sri Azharuddin, Director of DCA and VIPs. Followed by Negaraku and cultural dance 0840 - Speeches by the VIPs 0855 - Video presentation, aircraft launch, water canon salute, VIPs aircraft visits 0915 - Press conference 1015 - Boarding for flight OD803 at Gate G4 1030 - Departure for Singapore Like any other launch, inaugural events in KLIA. There is always a welcome cultural dance. This was then followed by Negaraku anthem and speeches. While we were in the function room at Gate G1, our Taikor Azahan was busy at the apron, understanding the flow of the aircraft taxi route, water canon salute and stop position. The gentleman at the far right is Dr Dinesh Keskar. He is the President of Boeing India and VP of Boeing International Trading. Malindo's cabin crews were there to usher guest from the seats to the rostrum. After all the customary speeches, it was time to unveil the aircraft. It started off with a video presentation followed by VIPs launching the aircraft by pressing a 'button' at the backdrop. The backdrop was shown a plain MAX 8, and slowly painted into 'Batik Malaysia' colours A small MAX 8 model was revealed at a corner where we stood after the MAX 8 was fully painted. "Soon to be available for purchase" The moment all we were waiting for. The water canon salute. After the launch, VIPs, guest and media proceeded a safe designated area at the apron for the main 'dish' About 5 minutes later, MAX 8 was seen taxing from remote bay A14 and the rest is history Safety is always a priority. Ground crew was always there to ensure adequate clearence especially with the MAX 8 double winglet. Our Taikor Azahan has all the best spots as compared to the media. To be continued...
  10. Nope Lee. On tripod with remote control. 3 sec exposure.
  11. The Cargo Airlines, from Georgia, is subsituting Raya Airways' B762 for their nocturnal Hong Kong run; with their A300B4-203. This B4 was originally from Singapore Airlines and has been owned by 6 different airline in her 36.5 years of service. https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/Airbus/A300/126/4L-AMS-The-Cargo-Airlines
  12. Hahaha Flee. not king la. am just a humble servant here.
  13. Baby -700s treat today. Las Vegas departing for Singapore. She needs a thorough bath. Regent had 2 hours test flight abeam the coast of Port Klang/Banting. Upon returning to SZB, they did a go around at 200ft and a touch and go. When they came to land at the end of flight test, they managed to have the plane completely stopped before taxiway H exit, which probably used a KM or less of runway. Maybe they were testing their 'brand new brakes'
  14. Heavily photoshopped for this Bahrain 744 when spotting from this spot
  15. Good weather for a morning exercise to the top of the hill. Surprise visitor to KUL. I wonder whether Santa will be hiring this Deer Jet for coming Christmas?
  16. Good ones Deezzul. When coming out of AF base via Zulu, His Majesty's pilots requested for Rwy33 departure as it is their norm. To our delight, the tower denied their request as asked them to cross and taxi towards Rwy15. For your info, the sheer lenght of this B748 really max out the camera. @18mm (DX) and 1.5 crop body. The two GEnx-2B67 still looks very purple (new) after delivery in Oct 16.
  17. LOL Francis. Saw it going towards Pekan in FR24. Heart sank and quickly rushed to SZB. Maybe going back after breakfast, before lunch. Or after lunch, before dinner.
  18. Big engines. Wing flex is not as pronounced as the Dreamliner.
  19. Did not expect the Sultan of Brunei would come since the Brunei Crown Prince came with the 342 yesterday. First landing into SZB. Third time to Malaysia.
  20. She was here this morning at 1155am. Probably here to attend the 15th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong coronation tomorrow.
  21. A6-AFA - Visit Abu Dhabi 2017, came last Sunday under superb lighting and clear skies. A6-EYE - Man City, came in yesterday. It was rather gloomy after the rain from previous night. Lets hope they send the F1 plane next weekend. The surprise was this fella. RP-C8978 (9M-AFO), in Puregold logo, taxied from SAE hangar to 32R to undergo test flight. It will be leaving for the Philippines today.
  22. Size comparison of HM's Royal Fleet of Boeings.
  23. Yesterday. Not long after her arrival, it poured.
  24. She was seen departing yesterday evening as B3 0700 to BKK. However, the flight number was meant for PBH(Paro) - CCU(Kolkata) - BKK. Wonder why she stopped KUL?
