Hilarious. The plane (9M-MAC) has been making familiarisation flights since 27/12/2017. The way it is reported made it sounded like it is the first flight MAC flew into BKI (well, the water canon salute too). Anyway, it's arranged in a way for the ministers and MAB's management team in that flight, and a press conference following that I suppose. Hence then it was reported. Still, hilarious. OCDN daily did report our state tourism minister was on board though.

Strange I wonder why they did that lol given that it has been making quite a few trips into BKI already. Perhaps better late than never. She will be here till 14/1/2018 according to schedule, correct?

I had a look at daily express but didn't see any report out KA's last flight. The report also states that the 2 KA offices will close this month. top pic: senior management of KA from KL came over for KA's last flight from BKI. lower pic: the KA ground crews ( from left: manager, and 2 ground staffs) posing before the last flight.

I read in the local chinese daily that it was reported a simple farewell was done. Not sure about english daily. if got time later I upload it?

Sad indeed Cathay Dragon as it's their last flight to BKI. AirAsia monopoly now. Yup, weather hasn't been great for the past few weeks... monsoon season. Thanks for the reply Jahur, good insight about the plane, and MAS's inflight service which gone pear shaped.

This year's new thread started very quickly! Happy New Year all! thanks for the pics. I did see MAC climbing out of WBKK yesterday evening maybe about 1000-2000ft. Those engines does sound significantly quieter compared to the older gens ones. Really like the A359! On another note, Jahur, how was your experience of both legs with MAC?

Ah ha. nice. wifi on board. enough for you to surf mw forums with the 2nd more expensive option? (I remember there's only 2 options). I believe load will be quite good for the BKI-KUL leg? steep learning curve it seems. Hopefully they learn fast and improve it's OTP.

So did u get your 9A seat Jahur? Enjoy your flight (assuming you are on that flight since you got sms notification) It's a gorgeous plane MAC. Those rolls royce trent 1000 XWB engines are quiet, even on reverse thrust (load should be good?). In comparison the Malindo B738 that landed after with full reverse thrust was noisy! Those of us who went to see was lucky that the weather was not too bad when MAC arrived. When malindo arrived it started to rain. Edit: it's Rolls Royces Trent XWB engines not trent 1000 XWB engines.

MAC is airborne now as MAS2614, ETA from FR24 1751 hours. keep tabs on your flight tracking app! Wont be able to see her take off from BKI, (should be close to 7pm?) sad. wanna hear those engines roar. lol. anyhow.. should be able to see it later unless weather is bad.

still no sign of her being airbourne from KUL. Time is slipping so is the sunlight and its cloudy. Initial teething problems with a new aircraft I guess...

East Star Jet B738 HL8269 ZE503 is inbound to BKI, flight delay apparently. Rare to see a korean flight coming into BKI during daytime.

From Mr T Azahan at the other post, if there isnt any change then 9M-MAC with Negaraku livery will be making its first commercial flight to BKI. Gotta be there!
