michgyver 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2018 OKYO: An AirAsia aircraft made an emergency landing on Monday at Okinawa’s Naha Airport because of engine trouble, China’s Xinhua news agency quoted Japan’s ministry of transport as saying. None of the 379 passengers and crew members aboard the AirAsia X flight bound for Kuala Lumpur were injured in the emergency landing by the Malaysian budget carrier. The ministry said the aircraft’s right engine indicated problems at 2.15am local time, forcing the captain to shut down the troubled engine, and declare an emergency landing. The aircraft touched down at Naha Airport at 3am local time. It had initially departed from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
Tom/PER 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2018 Aircraft involved looks to be 9M-XXV a reasonable newish A333. Wonder if it's yet another fan-blade failure.
flee 5 Report post Posted February 26, 2018 D7's aircraft utilisation is now around 16 hrs/day and aircraft are now being worked harder. Looks like the RR Trent 700s are complaining about the extra workload!
leon t 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2018 doubt its the "longer 16 hours" aircraft utilisation as the aircraft and engines are designed and certified even for higher operating hours per day. Just 2 weeks ago, a SIA's A330 also suffered a engine issue and blade separation and have to do a emergency landing at Mandalay airport.
