Air Asia offers US$1.50 international fares

SEPANG: Asian low-cost-carrier AirAsia has celebrated its 50 millionth passenger milestone by offering fares to overseas destinations for as little as US$1.50.

 

 

 

 

In a local promotion Air Asia has priced a range fo discount bragain fares starting with 5 - 5 sen (Half a Malaysian Ringitt), RM5 (US$1.50) and RM50 (US$15).

 

The special fares apply from all of its Asean region hubs: Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Johor, Bangkok, Jakarta and Bali.

 

"The 'Big Big Sale' offers fares from as low as 5 sen* from Kuala Lumpur to popular domestic destinations which include Langkawi, Penang, Johor Baharu, Alor Star, Kota Bahru, Terengganu, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Kuching, Miri as well as to international destinations such as Vientiane (Laos) and Singapore," Air Asia says on its website.

 

"Low fares to exciting international destinations starts from RM5* to destinations such as Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Macau, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and the recently introduced route, Makassar (formerly known as Ujung Pandang) the provincial capital of South Sulawesi, Indonesia and the largest city on Sulawesi Island. Some other hot destinations which are priced at RM50* include Bali, Bandung, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Clark (Manila) and many others."

 

Its sister, long-haul airline AirAsia X, is offering low fares to Hangzhou, China for RM50* and for RM199 (US$60) to the Gold Coast or Perth in Australia.

 

The Big Big Sale booking period started June 30 and runs to July 6, applying to travel between January 12 and April 30 2009.

 

Exceptions are Guangzhou (travel period from October 26 - April 30) and Makasar (Ujung Pandang) (travel period from July 25, 2008 - April 30, 2009). The same booking period applies.

Oh, I just LOVE that asterisk * - you can put whatever number you like because taxes, fuel surcharge, security charges, adminstration fees etc. etc. are excluded
