JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 Following the axing of Adelaide, Nagoya will be next destination to be axed. This comes less than a year after first flight into NGO. Initially, D7 had ambitious plans to start at least 5 destinations (FUK, KIX, NGO, HND, NRT, CTS). It seems the plan does not panned out well. Some might say HND and NRT are considered one destination though. Maybe Sapparo soon? flee 5 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 Makes me wonder where they are going to fly to - they will be getting 2 more new A333s this year. So where are they going to fly these new shiny aircraft to? Existing routes are already saturated with high frequencies. So they will desperately need new destinations to fly to. But it does look like they may use their fleet for charters and wet leases. With the two A343s and sole A332 leaving the fleet, there will be a net reduction of one aircraft in the D7 fleet. Initially, D7 had ambitious plans to start at least 5 destinations (FUK, KIX, NGO, HND, NRT, CTS). It seems the plan does not panned out well. Some might say HND and NRT are considered one destination though. Abenomics to be blamed? The revenue currency JPY is sinking. However, a lot of the costs are incurred in USD. That makes Japan very unattractive to the bottom line...
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 6 new A330 for delivery in 2015. Aircraft to be retired: A330-301 9M-XAA Leaving Q3 this year. A340-313X 9M-XAB has left. 9M-XAC is leaving on 20/1/2015. A330-202 9M-XAD left last month. A330-343X 9M-XXA will also leave this year once lease expires. Retired aircraft: 5 Net gain of one aircraft. In the Q3 presentation: "The growth strategy for 2015 will shift to a consolidation phase, where no new aircraft capacity to be allocated to core routes in Malaysia’s network in 2015, although ASK capacity is expected to increase by 5% vs 2014 due to the 12-month effect of capacity introduced mid-2014". From this we can deduce that the new aircraft most probably are not meant for AirAsia X Malaysia. Rather for ramping up AirAsia X Thailand and AirAsia X Indonesia. AirAsia X Indonesia is launching DPS-TPE in March 2015.
