  1. bump into this article, interesting.. http://buyingbusinesstravel.com/news/2120991-uk-and-malaysia-agree-%E2%80%98open-skies%E2%80%99-deal

All previous limits on the number of services between the UK and Malaysia have been removed as have restrictions on flights to onward destinations from the two countries. Airlines can also operate services within each other’s countries.

The removal of the limit on the number of services between the two countries will come into effect from October 27, 2013.

  2.

Anyway, I think for MAS own sake and also Malaysian taxpayers', MAS should keep the 772ER longer and replace all these with a true replacement aircraft (be it 787, 777X or 350), and not the 240t A330-300 that will become available in 2015.

If MH to order the 787 or 350 most probably they will only get it in by 2018/2019. Will it feasible to refurbish the leased 772 and keep them in service for another 5-6years with age close to 20years? On the other hand they can order the enhance A333 and fly them within 2years from now and have a younger fleet age. IMO, they shld order both the A333 and A350/787 for their short and long term planning :D

And according to this article its 242t now, no more 240t

  3. i think MH will end up with the enhanced A330 version... if im not mistaken the EIS is 2015 just nice before their 777 end of lease period (read it somewhere it stated november 2015). not ruling out the possibility for them to have A350-1000 either but not 777-X, it is still a long way to go.

Additional top up order for A380 will make my day tho' :D Routes like PEK/NRT/SYD have the potential i think and yeah more of 738 plzz... would love to see MH serving second/third tier cities within ASEAN region.

  4. IMO BA isn't innovative enough when it comes to introduce new routes unlike LH or AF/KLM. BA usually kinda of a late comers. WIth the end of partnership with QF the possibility of BA coming back to KUL is there. Actually Its a loss for BA not to serve KUL and not the other way around :D

For BA, its a choice between KUL and SIN for SE Asia. So, if they do come to KUL, it will be at the expense of SIN.

Not necessarily. Both AF/KLM and LH serve SIN but at the same time serve KUL even tho LH not a direct flight.

  5. so if Rafale choosen by Malaysia they are planning to set up shop both in India and Malaysia? can we really trust their words.. desperate time desperate measures.. in the end we once again probably will just manufacture those tiny screw or bolts&nuts for Rafale. :D

Btw, heard the same thing when SIEMENS bid the rolling stock for our upcoming MRT saying that they will consider to manufacture it here... after the award it all went silent.. i hope they prove me wrong :)

  6. I think that MH will probably phase out all their triple sevens by 2015-2016. By then, they can start taking delivery of the long range A333s that Airbus have announced last year. I believe MH can excercise their remaining options for this type: http://www.airbus.com/presscentre/pressreleases/press-release-detail/detail/airbus-offers-new-242-tonne-a330-takeoff-weight-capability-to-extend-market-coverage/

i have the same feeling that MH will end up with this one to replace their 777. Maybe we can expect to hear some announcement after the election :)

  7. Well, that is certainly a very generous take on the issue - doubt if those few widows would share your sentiments though

Nor those people whose kampung and livelihood are now ruined

Nor the residents round that area who are fleeing for fear

All that justified cause the "gov" is "inexperienced" and everyone is too busy preparing for an electoral fight ? (note: general election not called for yet)

what i mean was the gov is inexperienced in handling the issue upfront.., and certainly the "inexperience" didnt justified for those who has fallen. Their priority certainly got it wrong at first due to the upcoming GE. (note: i must be fool by the non-stop ceramah from both sides, random sms and the multiple flags can be seen almost everywhere at my place currently for saying that we're in the midst of election :D)

  8. Nope. Not quite. Once MH receives all 6 380s, there is actually one spare aircraft! Only 5 frames are needed for 2x daily LHR and 1X daily HKG/CDG.

Not really... read it somewhere that eventho they receive all 6 by end of this month, MH will only have 5 frames in service for a bout a year as the A380 will take turn for wings repaired, besides MH still didnt announce route for their last frame

  9. imo, we all need to acknowledge that this threat definitely new to us(pasca-independence), unlike some neighbouring countries. Some ppls keep saying that we act too late this have shld been done earlier and etc... my bet is that they didnt expect this to happen at all and assume that through negotiation it can be ended peacefully especially when the phils gov also involve in the nego.. boy how they thought wrong.. and i cannot blame the gov since we are inexperience with this kind of things.... heck, even if the PR in charge most probably they will do they same. Besides, we are in the midst of most heated election ever in history... :D

On a good note, this attack shld be an eye opener to the gov on how they need to respond and improve their crisis management. from now onwards, its time for our military to show their capabilities and i hope they will be no more blood spills on malaysian side
