  1. A bit late here with some of my own to add on... VH-OQA on approach A slightly different angle of the Air Koryo Tu-204-300. It looks shorter in real life!
  2. Yesterday started off perfectly with blue skies and bright sunshine that lasted through to the afternoon. However, it started pouring heavily by mid-afternoon and the evening aerial display was thus retimed from 5pm to 5.45pm. Despite getting soaked on the way in from the bus stop, the evening sun decided to reward all those who had stayed on with awesome golden sunlight. As the saying goes, its always rain before it shines! Rainbow in the background after the rain. The commentator joked that they had 'indented' a rainbow to keep the crowds happy after the delay. (Indent is a military term for order). After a parachute display by the Red Lions, the next part of the display is a simulated interception of a small unidentified aircraft that had entered Singapore airspace. F-16C 0641 is seen being scrambled for the interception. Taxiing out to the runway. Two views of the same aircraft in one photo! Following which the next part was a mock ground attack. Chinook slinging a pair of light attack vehicles while one of the Apaches patrol in the background. Demonstrating its versatility as a troop transport as well. A pair of Super Pumas also participated in the air display. Commandos rappelling to the ground from the Super Puma. A large amount of smoke grenades were used for this part and depending on one's position, one may not be able to shoot some of the aircraft in the air as a result. The pair of F-16Cs and F-5Es perform a flypast before peeling off sequentially to return to base. The F-5Es were first on the ground and deployed drag chutes to reduce its landing run. Maintaining its nose high up for most of its landing run. The C130 which had transported the Red Lions for the jump earlier performed a short field landing, stopping right in front of the grandstand area. With sunlight this good, I could not resist another shot of the C130, this time showing a front on view. Hope you had enjoyed the pictures!
  3. Hey Sneeze, This is because Jett8 seemed to have ran into yet another rough patch again lately. Quoted from Jett8's press release on 15th Aug 08. http://www.jett8airlines.com/news/jett8press150808.pdf "JETT8 AIRLINES CARGO ANNOUNCES THE IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF SCHEDULED FLIGHTS TO AND FROM HKG, AMS, MMX, PVG, BLR, MAA AND BOM, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THESE FLIGHTS WITH THE RELATIVE CONNECTIVITY ARE AFFECTED BY TEMPORARY LANDING PERMITS AND SLOTS AT CERTAIN STATIONS. HOWEVER SERVICES WILL CONTINUE ON A FULLY CHARTERED BASIS. ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED TO ALL OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS AND AGENTS, IS DEEPLY REGRETTED." Hope they recover and start flying scheduled operations again soon!
  4. TG414 was operated by a B747-400 HS-TGL in old colours today, probably needed to pick up the passengers from the cancelled flight earlier on (TG403/404). Had not seen them at SIN for a very long time! Something different from the usual approach shots...Shenzhen new colours B738 B-5073 from the T1 viewing mall.
  5. Actually it is the BKK-JFK route which had been axed due to losses sustained by the lack of premium passengers, although their flights are often more than 80% full. If I'm not wrong the BKK-LAX route will also have its frequency cut. Well it sure has been an interesting 3+yrs when the A345s with Thai...the most memorable occasion for me was that I got my first glimpse of how awesome the new livery looked when HS-TLA popped in for her first flight to SIN in preparation for the launch of the JFK service.
  6. QF operates quite a number of flights to Singapore -twice daily to Perth with A333 -daily to Brisbane with A333 -twice a week to Perth via Denpasar (Bali) with B738 -daily 'Kangaroo' flights from down south to/from Frankfurt with B744 -twice daily 'Kangaroo' flights from down south to/from London-Heathrow with B744 The special flights are to ferry pax attending the World Youth Day held in Sydney last week from Rome. The flight from Sydney to Rome, QF155 routes through Bangkok while the return QF156 routes through Singapore. -Credits to Liam for the info.
  7. Nice shot Raymond! The rain does create some kind of an atmosphere for the picture. Thanks for the dedication Lufthansa LH790 from Munich got delayed again today to an even later timing of 0902hrs. Needless to say, the sun had to give its blessing for such a pleasant surprise. VH-EBX had the honour of operating the last of the 3 special flights as QF156 from Rome to Sydney via Singapore today. China Sonangol International, which is a Hong Kong based company specialising in oil and gas exploration, sent two of their private aircraft this afternoon. First up was a Dassault Falcon 900EX VP-BEF which was followed by A319CJ VP-BEX a few hours later. Hope you enjoyed the pictures
  8. Nice shots! Agreed about the part about the RR Trents, however the sole remaining example in old colours with super small font is quite a classic to catch The engine for this bird is a GE engine, not a PW. The difference is that GE engines for the A330s have 3 sections ending with a sharp tail cone while the PW engines only have 2 sections without a tail cone.
  9. Bringing up this old thread again By Day By Night
  10. Some photos shot at Penang from me...please kindly forgive the low lighting conditions Cathay Pacific Cargo 'Silver Bullet' B-HIH taxiing to runway 04 for departure Air Asia A320 9M-AHI operating AK6536/6537 to/from JHB
  11. Nice catch of this very rare and elusive bird!
  12. Sneeze, I finally got her today! Another shot of the Air China B738 with Olympic mascots Enjoy!
  13. A very nice surprise by Asiana Cargo B747-400BCF in new livery this afternoon
  14. According to SQ online schedule, the last revenue flight should be operated on 10 May 2008, SQ286 from AKL. After which, this flight has been replaced by a 77W. I would remember SPR is one of the very few aircraft here that has worn a special livery for all its while (in SQ service), as well as being extremely committed to a single destination and flight pairs!
  15. Some pix from last saturday's wonderful spotting session Just the word to describe that day! Thai Airway's new livery just look gorgeous in that warm morning sun. With 3 B744s in the background and a tonne of B734 movements its just natural to get them together! 9M-AHF with the outsized Singapore flag on top and words in black. Despite being the first aircraft to inaugurate the SIN-KUL route in Feb, she is frustratingly hard to catch at SIN! Hibiscus cautiously making her way to the runway.... MH B744F making a very nice late rotation with the hills in the background Cleaning up her undercarriage.... Powerful takeoff with those GE90-115Bs. Hope you have enjoyed viewing the pictures!
  16. Now my turn to post some pix from my maiden spotting trip to KLIA 9M-AFW Williams Team An unexpected surprise in the form of an EgyptAir A332. Failed a couple of times to capture EgyptAir in BKK and was very happy to finally get one in KL! 9M-MPM arriving with some hills in the background Love the evening light in those RR engines! Can't ask for a better aircraft than this very blue Heliconia too. Amazingly clean silver bullet, courtesy of JAL Cargo.
  17. QANTAS B743 VH-EBX now operates QF72 to Perth daily till 10 May as some of the usual A333s are in for checks. With such gorgeous old school Rolls Royce RB211 engines gleaming away in the morning sun, who can resist attempting an Azahan-style nose shot? -Many thanks to Liam for the info on this temporary schedule change!
  18. After a month of chasing Air Asia and kept getting normal liveried aircraft, I thought I would be happy if I got one with a special sticker today. Needless to say, I was estatic when I saw something black and white instead. I have to say that this livery looks much better when seen in real life And of course, not to forget the frontal shot of this aircraft featuring Nico Rosberg's helmet Coincidentally, today is also the start of the 2008 F1 season (and I heard that Nico Rosberg finished 3rd in the race today)! Hope you enjoyed the above pictures!
  19. Totally agree with that! Some more photos from yesterday's absolutely stunning afternoon:- Thai Airways A340-600 looking great as TG413 from BKK. Absolutely delighted to get her in good sunlight as she has a tendency to attract clouds whenever she passes by my lens. Shenzhen decided to downsize slightly and sent their cuter looking B737-700 in old colours VT-JWD with Rolls Royce engines used to be in old colours but has been re-painted with the new colour scheme since Feb '08. The livery just screams attention against a clear blue sky! With the winter schedule ending soon, it is a must to get 9V-SPR whenever possible.
  20. Here's some of my static pix that I've processed so far Having only seen these awesome experimental setups and stations in books and on the internet, it was really a dream come true for me to see an actual flight test setup, which is in this case, in the A380. A comparison shot between the F-16 and WC-130J showing the great difference in nose profiles Another nose, this time of the Indonesian Air Force CN235-220MPA Deeply impressed with the full glass cockpit of the WC-130J, complete with HUD! Very honoured that the 2 Italian pilots showed more interest in us than the whale to their right Spot some very familiar faces here?
  21. Wow nice dramatic pix KC and TTT! Something new about this airshow is that aircraft would be towed along the public road to take off from the adjacent air base. In other words, it is for once able to get very decent shots of some aircraft participating in the aircraft without paying a single cent for admission. Wide angle is definitely needed! A significant part of the wing passes over you as it makes the turn into the airbase taxiway later. And of course a whole new background to catch her in when she returns after the flying display to be towed back to the static display area. As for getting to the airshow, I recommend taking the hotel shuttle instead as it is much more value for money due to the longer journey time (but save on MRT fare to expo), more comfortable buses (tour coaches) ($5 also). The hotel shuttle runs every half hour and tickets are sold at the Tour East set up in the hotel lobby. They take about 40mins and depart from Meritus Mandarin, Pan Pacific, Marina Oriental, Marina Mandarin and Swissotel.
  22. Sharing some low light photos taken recently:- HS-PGS 'Samui' replacing the older B717 'Samui' on the daily run from Koh Samui. A pity the older Samui is already in storage in the USA. Another perspective of Yayani Dreaming, or affectionately known as Vomit Comet by our mates down under
  23. Wow LeeCH..very lucky with the Air China Olympic B738!
  24. Very nice pix Andrew and LeeCH! Now its my turn to share some pix hehe... Starting off with some noses:- Hmm..Changi Airport or Moscow-DME? Yupz, Transaero now upgraded to a B747 on their route to Bali via Singapore with a load of Russians escaping the cold. The Boeing 'Dreamliner' livery remains one of my favourite liveries. PK-LFG wears it beautifully, especially the nose section with the model number proudly displayed below the cockpit windows. In conjunction with the Visit Indonesia 2008 campaign both Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air have this sticker on some of their aircraft. Here PK-LFL has the sticker in black and white version with a slight grammatical error (on a line of near microscopic words). Garuda has the coloured version of the sticker, but Lion afterall is budget mahz... A real surprise yesterday as Transaero sent in a B744! The blue underbelly looks a bit weird near the rear...but its still a B744 instead of the usual classic Nice to see the tail logo being reproduced on the winglets too! Thai sends in their A346 regularly this month on TG413/414 from BKK during and/or near weekends. However, today's flight mysteriously shrunk in size as Phitsanulok HS-TLC showed up instead. Not that I mind though definitely...it has been ages since TG's A345 graced Changi Of course, the smaller traffic must not be forgotten as this Bombardier Global Express (in manufacturer's colour scheme) makes it way onto 02L after a long flight from Vienna and continuing on to its final destination Perth following a short rest at Changi. Hope you enjoy the pix and have a great week ahead!
