Those OD flights, as far as we have been told, are chartered operations, ie. time limited
Maybe AK people know about things we do not ?
-
Goodness, so that is what they look like in light of day
Thank you !
-
..... a revered A330 widebody and not a wretched non-BSI B738, which is considered by some to be the worst invention in the flying industry.
As circumstances stand now, we're not likely to see a BSI standardized A330 anytime soon - none that any self respecting Airbus employee would admit to anyway
-
i thought these few routes to the chinese cities are only chartered flights?
That would be my recollection too
But you never know what these charters can eventually lead to - remember those Korean Air charters from years back ? And those China Southern charters during our school holiday breaks ? Look where things have developed into nowadays
-
Seems to me Malindo likes to follow the "footstep" of Airasia instead of introducing new and "untested" route
Not quite so nowadays - they are doing/trying a lot of so called 'secondary' Chinese cities out from BKI nowadays
I think they 'pioneered' Zhengzhou (CGO) not too long ago and it seem that Shanghai Airlines (FM) has jumped onto the bandwagon too nowadays - an indication route is lucrative ?
Then you get places like Changsha, Tianjin etc as well
Don't recall AirAsia ever 'testing' those routes before
Though admittedly a few of these, eg Wenzhou, have since been dropped I believe
-
In its current state do you think MAB really want (or need) to increase budget on revamping cabin and IFE?
Would be a joke if they go about redoing the 738 interiors now
-
Direct flight yes..... but from Kuching? whats the strategy here?
You mentioned CAN-TWU and that was what my reply was referencing to
No idea on thinking behind KCH-TWU, don't think many people saw that coming
beside, it will also bring up the new market or travel pattern like China-BKI-TWU/Semporna-KCH-BKI-China or vice versa .....
Interesting
Do you have any idea how much is BKI being used as a transit stop for China/S.Korea-Sarawak traffic ?
I suspect there must be some, BKI-KCH vv used to be like a dismal double daily years ago, nowadays a quite respectable 6x daily (and OD coming into picture soon too I believe) in parallel with the increase in China/S.Korea flights
-
Moving forward, perhaps a small airport ala Kudat should be built in Semporna to take some of the load from Tawau airport?
Good idea, but minimum should be ATR capable (there may not be enough of the Vikings around to meet demand otherwise )
However, probably end up A380 standard of 'international' standing instead, considering whose backyard that is nowadays .....
-
They might be better fly TWU-CAN direct.
Direct flights to Sabah's east coast airports (SDK and TWU) was one of Mdm Liew's first proposals after assuming the tourism portfolio, no ?
-
what/whose private jet was musa aman traveling on?
Very likely T7-TAA

Wild guess from the plane's registration, maybe the brother's ? The ex Foreign Minister Tan Sri ?
-
Look at that picture of MF
No flooding meh ?!
-
Been fiddling about with flight schedule on AK's site - or is that not a clever way to find out these sort of info ?
-
AirAsia
Kota Kinabalu - Shenzhen from 1x daily new 2x daily from 1. november
Looks like tidak jadi after all
-
Is MH on the way leaving OW?
Ok, now that you mention it, I don't recall them concluding their post landing announcement with "...... Malaysia Airlines, member of One World Alliance ......" on my recent flight
-
Didnt the US have some joint military exercises recently in the east coast of Sabah?
Probably this:
US Navy Seals helping to train our personnel
-
China Southern Airlines from late-September 2018 introduces new South East Asia route from Shenzhen, where the airline plans Shenzhen – Kota Kinabalu route.
Pretty much explain AK's move to go double daily on route when it had been content on one daily all these years
-
No luck, shepherded into 9M-MXY instead
-
I know for fact 9M-MLM has gotten grounded at KUL (gate A7), I wonder if they will deploy one of their fatty airbuses I saw resting about earlier to fly us home instead
-
Wow, giving it another go I see
-
why gate 7 &8?
Because that was where I was waiting and the birds were flying overhead
-
Amazing, one can literally go bird spotting at KKIA now, between gates 7 and 8
-
Talking of which:
1) when are we due for the next convoy of Korean 744s (even 748 or 380 ?!) shipping them Amway VIPs in ?
2) compared to 'their' kimchi, you have to concede 'our' versions are ...... well, 'meh' to put it mildly
-
..... They get the VIP treatment i.e. being chauffeured around without much interaction with the locals. From landing to departing.
Yes
Example, they get dropped off at a corner of Asia City, go for lunch at the couple of Korean restaurants there, drop by ACE supermarket to stock up on Korean snacks/provisions/soju and straight back into the waiting coaches
It's like so well choreographed
-
Yes, the mind boggles as to why AK has not dipped its feet into BKI-SEL all this while
I'm guessing anywhere MH's 738 can reach, AK's 320(neo) also can do ? Hopefully they can do a better show to Tokyo and/or Perth than what the incumbent has mustered all these years

Ok, now it seem like PEK-BKI (MF) is back on, whilst Malindo/Batik has ceased TSN-BKI
