So Airasia X also did show some love to GE!
Yeah, initially - but eventually ditched when the vital statistics showed up
-
Their love for each other evidently not sufficient to overcome attractiveness of RR's Trents on the 330s, over GE's CF6

Ryanair takes legal action against outgoing COO Bellew, formerly MAS CEO

Miss Morgan binti Stanley.

The term 'north-south divide' comes to mind somehow

So, apparently the jungle jet (Embraer E195-E2) was also in town recently for a demo

There must be a strong scent around of an upcoming order from someone

One wonders who they'd be fooling. Where was their noble spirit when they happily charged the klia2 fee? Or the ridiculous credit card charges?
AirAsia to remove processing fee in OctoberPETALING JAYA: AirAsia Group Bhd will remove the processing fee for customers who pay either through online banking and credit card from October onwards.Tan Sri probably read your previous reply here and decided to restore nobility -

Could things be about to go pop ?!

Well, yes

My thoughts above much less on whether they will be able to recover the RM 40M from pax (realistically a no brainer imo ) with or without a legal basis to do that. But rather on whether they will go up that path, even if just for the publicityI don't see how they can pin this on the passengers.
Let us be honest, would we Malaysians be as 'enthusiastic' nowadays about the red giant if they have had to make do without the colour and antics of you know who all these while ?
Therein is where I believe their PR strength stands out. Did we hear any hoo-hahs of protestation in the media when the klia2 fee and credit card charges came about - none or minimal ? But man ! Did we hear and read about them refusing to collect the 'excessive' taxes (for sake of the Rakyat, no less) - like it or not, this is now legal precedence in Malaysia and can be, and probably will be, cited in futureOne wonders who they'd be fooling. Where was their noble spirit when they happily charged the klia2 fee? Or the ridiculous credit card charges?
In the meantime, your Mat, Chin & Muthu out on the street has been fed all this time about heroic stories of you know who championing their right 'to fly' - that counts, much, much more than what we comment upon here ......
-
A bit of trivia perhaps - if at end of day and legal process has been exhausted and judgement stands as is, would AK group then have any standing to demand for the "unpaid passenger service charges" from each and every pax they had not collected from during those six months ?
I'm guessing it won't take much to generate a 'WE TRIED OUR BEST TO SAVE YOU FROM UNFAIR CHARGES BUT OUR HANDS ARE NOW TIED, SO PLEASE NOW COUGH UP THE MONEY' publicity campaign. A winner PR wise I think - perhaps gahmen and MAHB could then be persuaded against pursuing that RM 40M debt. After all, the amount involved is probably of loose change quantum, taken in context of voters' perception in GE15 and negative PR for MAHB in short term

Boeing takes $5bn hit over grounding of 737 Max
from: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-49026285
Big businesses will involve big sums of money I suppose
Does it mean 42 planes are still rolling off the production line monthly ? If so, there must be hundreds of new build undelivered examples about already, in desert storage presumably - what a sight that would be
-
If considered as A&P expenditure, that RM 40M could perhaps be considered good value for positive vibe generated amongst existing and potential customers - when was the last time anyone tried to save you a few bucks without you asking for it ?!
(old, stubborn sceptics however ...... )

..... order more A350 by swapping A380 with Airbus.
If that does happen, it would be interesting to see what manufacturer A does with them 380s
Still a lot of uncertainty with the max at this stage.
Don't the promises by our MO1 to POTUS count for anything anymore ?!
-
Wonder if this will have any impact upon existing BWN-BKI vv flights ?
-
A380 for British summer student peak period was already planned some time ago.
Our Kim still scheduled on the 350 as of now
Unless your definition of "summer student peak period" fall outside mid Aug-early Sep window

Look beyond the confines of this country and you'll find that the ringgit you're paying really is peanuts in comparison to the dollars you'd pay for domestic travel elsewhere. And more often than not you're paying more for less in many parts of the world.
You mentioned "a domestic ticket in Malaysia?" and mine was a response confined to that
If looking beyond, yes, a fair comment about payment in form of peanuts, particularly so when considering how our MYR (with which we pay for our domestic rides) is faring against the USD (for which most things aviation related is transacted I believe)
-
When was the last time you paid hundreds of dollars on a domestic ticket in Malaysia?
I do. And I believe very much the norm for us over here on Borneo island when we need to travel across the pond
-
I am so mightily impressed Tan Sri TF decided to be in attendance at launching of an observation deck in his neighbourhood, rather than the unveiling of Air Asia X's 330neo at Le Bourget
Plus, who in their wildest moments of imagination would ever have, well imagined, said Tan Sri ditching his trade mark red cap for one of MAHB's orange coloured head gear
(perhaps they are now done with their suing and counter-suing processes ?)
-
We've come full circle. Previously long haul trips were done on narrowbody jets like the 707 & the DC-8. Now we're back to narrowbody jets on long haul!
Slight difference I believe, those long haul 707s and DC8s had to make do with multiple hops back then in time
Also back then in time, there weren't any fatties about yet, so everything was slim by default
-
Perhaps the one thing that will blow away all competition on KUL/SIN - dine on demand
-
I wonder how the final price would be if credit/debit card/online banking charges were to be included. Air Asia imposes different charges for different modes of payment
Maybe the idea is to get them to abolish payment charges altogether ?
Work it into the quoted fare and be done with it, irrespective of payment mode
-
I ask you, why aren't we seeing more MAX crashes? Why is it that we're not seeing Southwest, American or Air Canada, the three airline with the most MAX 8 fleet have zero crashes between them?
My guess for what it's worth - they have all been grounded ?!
(my apologies, could not resist)

Believe there is land available for PEN to build a new terminal or extend existing terminal.
I'm quite sure I have come across plans for those works before. They wouldn't stop all that now would they ?!
