  1. Saturday, 26th January 2008. Yet another great and lovely morning where I could have just sleep through it. But I have to time my body clock early to adjust for my flight to EGCC tonight. So off I went to Changi Airport again. And here is a share of a rather quiet Saturday morning.

Quiet it might be but this is the catch of the day. Leaving just before 0000Z. Very nice grizzling sound from very far whilst it taxi on the parallel. I was searching high and low initially no thanks to its dark blue camoflouge. Very very nice looking AN-12 belonging to the 'Pinoys'. Thanks for dropping by.

    mw10qy0.jpg

An the usual stuff. Getting bored by the sight and number of Silkair departing on 02C. Very soon I will start boycotting taking these pictures.

    mw20jl2.jpg

Thanks and no thanks to the new Terminal 3, the number of departures out of 02C has been reduced drastically. And very oftenly we see landings on this runway now. Here is an example of Yankee Delta with the speedbrakes and flaps all hanging out. New livery scheme just applied.

    mw30bn1.jpg

And if you see a SIA departure on this runway, you can bet your money it comes from Terminal 2 and headed somewhere not too far away. SQ 192 departing for Penang. Old livery. Have not seen any Victor series in new colors yet.

    mw40to1.jpg

I am still waiting for JA606A. Miss by 5 digits today. I reckon if that day happens, I will be watching it from inside the cockpit or it will depart 02L. And I have to make do with this normal stuff as usual.

    mw50af9.jpg

This one is dedicated to all the MH boys in this forum. Radzi, Nik H., TK, Khaled, Lim Lim and Dante. I also have not seen any MH A333/A332 in Singapore for a long long time already.

    mw60ki3.jpg

Next come the Indian invasions. This is the colorless and boring Indian. Two examples this morning. I share one lah. The second one is just the same but a different rego only. Only interesting point is the main landing gear. Comes with four wheels instead of two each. Airbus special order.

    mw70kq2.jpg

And now the colorful Indian landing on 02C. With a pretty Indian girl dancing behind and blended wings. What a view!. Dedicated to our India based MW member, Vivek. Hope to meet him in BOM Obs Hill someday.

    mw80ic9.jpg

Talk about early rotation. This one beats all. The mother of all rotations. Caught me by surprise totally to see it so high up in such short time. Eeeeee.......this baby is very regular in Singapore. Note I am standing at the same point as with previous pictures above. Leaper!!

    mw90bq0.jpg

That's about it from LeeCH this weekend in Singapore. Of course there are the other usual SQ 777's, Jetstar A320's and heaps of Silkair. I shall not bore you guys with those. No sight of any cargo movements too and both Qantas and TG(Old livery) departed on the wrong runway. Hopefully good weather will come again next weekend and I will see what surprises will be in store. Till then, keep Singapore clean and 'fine'. Cheers!

  2. WSSS >> WMKI :yahoo: :yahoo:

There are actually alot of people from Ipoh working in Singapore, like me. :pardon: Most buses leaving Ipoh for SG are quite full. I know cause I used such bus services when I studied in UTM and more recently cadetship with SQ. Situations get even worst when Raya or CNY holiday come, buses were fully booked 2 months in advanced and prices were jacked up almost 100%. It make perfect sense to me as an overnight bus from SG to Ipoh takes about 7 hours. I would love them to have direct flight between these two cities. I'm sure a lot of people would find it a much more convenient way to travel between SG - IPH. I too can go back home more often. :yahoo:

AirAsia terminated the flight between IPH-JHB due to technical reasons i.e short runway, not lack of demand as most would think. I hope they upgrade the friggin' runway ASAP. My best bet now is Firefly's plan to ply JHB - IPH route using ATR-72-500 at the end of 2008 or early 2009.

Well said. This is one very lucrative route. And I know one captain in SQ who would welcome this more than anyone else. Oh, and also many other Malaysian girls in SQ Kebayas.

  3. Singapore ATC (WSJC) control area is very very big. It covers the entire South China Sea up to Manila, Vietnam and eastern Peninsula borders (refer Jeppessen airways chart Far East 1/2). The lower airpace in Johor area up to FL220 (Kwek, correct me if I am wrong) with the exception of WMKJ which has a control area of up to 6,000 feet. I know because I have visited the ATC unit in Changi whilst awaiting my trip to Jandakot, Perth during my cadet days.

On a different note, a private (maybe a charter) had a wheel well fire yesterday morning (0600LT) whilst I was intercepting ILS approach 02C. The guys were busy handling out the abnormalities and last heard over the air was it could be false indication. Then I switch to tower and hear no further thereafter.

  4. All this bashing about MH. And it is always compared with SQ. Unfortunate maybe?? Because just happens that SQ is our neighbour and use to be under the same umbrella before MSA split. A case of envy against the world's best (so called)? And the comparison with SQ will never cease. Believe me. I am sure all other foreign airlines are always comparing against the company I work for. So its rather unfortunate.

Interesting enough, why you guys never compare MH against TG, Garuda, Brunei and Philipinnes? Why?

  5. Cornelis, thanks for the shots from Milan. Have fond memories of that airport always, even if it is only two flights I have done there. Was about to asked you how come weather was so fine for your initial spotting pictures. As I hear from my colleagues, all flights into Europe have been on Cat II/III recently. Alas.....comes the red card.....cheers See you in AMS when opportunity comes along. Thanks you.

  6. !!! LeeCH take pics from Old Trafford LOL. How did you manage to get the ticket by the way?

OT, I called my hotel conceirge to book tickets for me. Will try to get some match day photos.

Wah LeeCH, you suddenly become so brave ah..... hehehe

Nice catch of the China Olympic baby Boeing!

Was just talking about you this morning. How come you so busy and quiet lately? We miss your car park style lah..... Brave? No lah...I want to justify a new purchase.....so have to click click click....to spoil the shutter quickly.

I just want to ensure this guys carefully send my parcel out. Has been eyeing this one for a long long time

    mw11ut3.jpg

Welcome to Singapore ladies and gentlemen. The tempreature outside now is 31 degree Celcius. And the heat haze is screwing all my photos. Thank you thank you Mr. Sunshine. Sometimes we love you. Sometimes we hate you.

    mw12dw5.jpg

Sorry guys, last two photos here and the rest of the photos from these new spot after BEREDAR is useless. All heat haze. Severe type. Have a nice week ahead.

  7. Third consecutive Sunday morning spotting for me. So far so good for 2008. Keeping up with my spotting resolution. However no chance spotting next week as I will be away to Old Trafford to watch MU vs Spurs live. Hehehe... Shots taken together with Andrew in Singapore this peaceful morning. Enjoy.....

Gold Cat. Never knew the Bengalis Tigers go hunting in the morning......

    mw10qy0.jpg

And regional birds starts early too.........

    mw20fj8.jpg

Have not visited their homebase for almost two years at ZGGG. Not that it is great as it will be a long day of 12 working hours.

    mw30tg7.jpg

Hang on there you guys in KLIA. Coming real soon to your Obs Hill and WX Station.

    mw50ff7.jpg

And surprise of the day. Yao Ming playing basketball in front. Lin Dan playing badminton behind. Not a very welcome guest in the eyes os SQ management after the China Eastern deal fell through......but welcome for me at least.

    mw60xf4.jpg

Tomorrow is going to be my turn on this babe. Auckland Auckland here I come. It's too long since I last worked (not counting base check of course). 8 days and I am so itchy all over......HELP HELP....

    mw40hv7.jpg

Last week they sent JA701J. This week they sent JA702J. Next week JA703J maybe? I wouldn't know..... My favourite color if I have to choose an airline with white fuselage.

    mw70wq0.jpg

WOW!! CF and not CH anymore. Must be a lot of CF cards on board too. This guy rotated very very late. Non stop to Frankfurt?

    mw90ao6.jpg

Last shot with Andrew. Thereafter, the Singapore 'BEREDAR' version came along. And I pissed off to another spot. Megan making a lot of noise in town. BZzzzzz..........

    mw80qs1.jpg

See if I am still strong enough to go 02L spotting later. Will share more pics on Wed/Thu when I get back from AKL. Meanwhile keep Singapore clean and safe. Cheers guys. LeeCH loves you all!! :air_kiss: Always remember, Malaysia BOLEH, Singapore OK!!

  8. Woooooo........ understood now Captain... i wonder why ground controller didn't instruct the pilot to hit the brakes.. it seems to roll very far off already... maybe they were panicked???

Ground controller has to monitor a lot of aircraft movements from the tower. As such cannot dedicate attention only to one aircraft pushing back. But the funny thing is, the moment you push back in wrong direction, they will tell you off immediately.

  9. From what I know and with the cabin crew that I speak to, I see no reason for them to be biased/elitist towards non Asian customers. This is all a hyped out thing by 'local passengers (Malaysian/Singaporean)' who feel inferior to their foreign counterparts.

I have never heard of any China, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Filipino or Thai passenger who ever had anything to say about the SQ cabin crew service standard (bias/elitist). So it only makes even more case that this is truly a unique 'local passenger profile' issue. Why the need for such insecurity? Perhaps the 'locals' are trying too hard to outlive the social and cultural heritage of foreign colonication and supremacy in this region that has been around for many years.

Culturally, the 'Kiasu' bug syndrome lives with both Singaporean and Malaysians. And yes, hear me say that. Malaysians are somewhat 'Kiasu' in their own way as well. Hence, their expectations are very high indeed whenever they travel on SQ services. And most, I reiterate again, most, passengers of this 'local' had only travel by SQ itself and never gave a chance to sample what other foreign airline can offer them in terms or 'service' Sometimes, I think these group of 'locals' deserved a slap in their face. And when these group of 'locals' travel, they demand a lot of unnecessary things to test how much service/upgrades can be rendered to them. When things do not work in their favours, they will cry bias/elitist again. In comparison, our 'White Men' are all well behaved throughout the entire journey. At most, serve them the alcohol and they will sleep happily after that.

Demanding upgrading for family members holding economy ticket, Cancelling special meal request and asking for business class food, Seated in business class and asking to serve business class meals to their family seated in eonomy, Throwing tantrum hoping to get cash and shopping vouchers. This are just a few. These people never had a family member who works as a cabin crew. So they will never spare a thought for those who are serving them. And oh no, cabin crew do not treat passengers like faceless people.

I can type endlessly about all the stupid and shameful things but it will be a wate of bandwith and your reading time here. So please feel free to approach me when I am not clicking in Obs Hill and I am more than willing to share with you what actually transpires to this bias/elitist stuff is all about.

    My 0.02 cents.....

  10. As promised, here is the rest of the worms in the can for a great Sunday morning.

Sneeze, for you. B-HLE, nightstopper on its way back to Chep Lap Kok. Who says Airbus are not climbers? Wheel area check. No stowaway Captain. All clear.

    mw40xw2.jpg

Annual line check flight for Captain and Co-pilot. SQ 952 headed off to Jakarta and will be back before lunch time. Quite a bit of derate as rotation was rather late. Angle of attack is now 12.5 degrees and airspeed is between V2+15 to V2 +25. Gears UP!!

    mw30tq6.jpg

SQ 622 departing for Kansai, Osaka. Non-stop and flight time is about six hours. Favourite sector for us on the triple seven fleet as we get two nights stay in Osaka. And both ways direct without a stop in Bangkok. Looks like breaking the speed of sound, but it is not. Just some condesation in the humid morning air.

    mw70bi5.jpg

JAL B773ER. I am taking on of this type for my holiday to Hokkaido next month. Tried to be adventurous and captured this. Pretty nice to have some background in the shot rather then just blue skies.

    mw50mv6.jpg

Whilst still at it, got this Indian bus. Definitely more expensive to own than the world's cheapest car produced by Tata. Makes me wonder if Tata is going to build the world's cheapest airliner.

    mw80jg5.jpg

And my catch of the day. Yes my name on the Rego. Airliner Lee C H. And what an aircraft it turn to be. Love the three holers. Love the great sunshine. Love the long engine tailpipe. Love the huge cockpit windows.

    mw90gx4.jpg

Was supposed to be trying to nail the A380. But weather was not that great and later in the noon, there was a huge washout in Singapore. Was pretty adverse weather and I believe a lot of aircraft are holding out there or diverted to KUL around 1530LT to 1730LT.

Till next week again. See you around and hope you enjoy the shots. Time to hit the books. My bi-annually base check on Wednesday.

  11. Good Morning Malaysia!! :D

Greetings from across the Causeway. Lovely morning sun today. And they say the early bird catches the early worm. Let's see what worms in the can do we have here in Singapore this lovely morning.

First out on sun breaking out. Singapore 422, cleared for takeoff Runway 02C, climb 3000 feet. My fellow colleagues having to work hard so early in the morning for the run to Bombay. Indian continent, Terminal 2 departures. Great as ever.

    mw10cs6.jpg

Orange belly. With JET star wordings. I am still waiting to nail this fellow inflight on the airways between PK NDB and VKB VOR. Regular to Bangkok. Saw it last year in RVSM flight but I did not bring my camera. Look at the sun reflecting off the fuselage. Lovely light.

    mw20nj0.jpg

More to come later. Will see if I can nail A380 today for its arrival from Sydney. Stay tuned.

  12. Lost APU power on the ground is very common la. I was once stranded while positioning from ICN back to SIN on company B744 and it failed. Due to extreme cold conditions outside. Emergency escape lighting all came up and plane was silent you can hear pin drop. Come to think of it, Triple Seven is quite safe operationaly so far.

  13. Razmyn, dun wait any longer. Go get the F4 Super Duper Zoom. You will love it. One tip to share. You will need to get a new set of tripod and Wimberly head to support it. Its DARN heavy. Quick quick quick. Works well with TC1.4II as well. All images sharp sharp. With D300, even best.

Captain, SQ need people lah. Jump jump over. Hahaha.....

  14. New Year means new resolutions. For me personally, means more spotting. Last Sunday, the light was fantastic in the morning hours. Bumped into KC and Andrew by side of 02C/20C. My share of what I saw thru the viewfinder of my D200. D200 just back from Check A for dust contamination. A whole bunch of shots were rejected for 'DIRTY' recently.

Smoky Russian. Antonov AN12. Very poor climb performance. Blue propeller blades. Cool stuff. Thank goodness Maria Sharapova doen't look anything close like her.

    mw10ba1.jpg

Hello SYE. Long time no see and fly you. Like I said, superb lighting. Bye bye Adeline . SQ972 headed to Bangkok. My gf seated at door 1R. Pretty light. Not much wing bending. First time catching Star Alliance for myself.

    mw11mq6.jpg

I have a fetish for Japanese ladies. And this is the second time I bumped into her at Changi (JA615A). Nice and cool smart blue uniform. I wouldn't mind her in Panda colors though. Kinda kinky to think of if.

    mw13mo4.jpg

Headed to Penang. Not much wing bending and not very heavy as well for a weekend. Love this angle with no gears hanging around. Better snap them all before all changed to upgraded livery.

    mw14ga7.jpg

Stupid Romeo Bravo. The most sector I have clocked on the Triple Seven is this bird. Very clean belly. Perhaps overnight shower by enigneering. Good job I must say.

    mw15cw5.jpg

Then I saw three Indian ladies. Two was shown by Andrew here. I share another angle of A332 with you guys. Very nice color scheme. I am starting to fall in love with Indian girls too. Sexy and long. I am getting excited of waiting for SQ to get theirs.

    mw16xj5.jpg

A more traditionalist and conservative Indian girl at her best. Almost no cropping. Very hard working girl lifting herself of the tracks of 02C. But light suddenly turned off. Must be Jonathan Kong SC lah. Itchy hands turn off lights from KL.

    mw17wn8.jpg

This one is dedicated to you know who of this forum. PAPA AZAHAN. Lovely. Same like previous shot. Almost no cropping required. Narita bound as SQ12. Plenty of 'Kawaii' Japanese stewardesses on board. :air_kiss:  Colin, is it you ah? Five Gold Bar Captain Azahan rotating this Papa Azahan.

    mw18tg6.jpg

Then I quickly went to wash my car while the lights fall off due to cilaka JKSC itchy hand. Once my car kilat kilat (shiny shiny) I came back hoping to catch a very filthy 9V-SKA which I saw a day before on the stand. But not meant to be. Beast landed on 02C and I was waiting at 02L.

Long live the King!! Damn LOOOOOONGGGG indeed. Is this the version of WWF TNA explosion? TNA breaking out of the stupid noon clouds. Hmm.....why did TG send their A346 to SIN? Maybe it is a line check sector for the pilots on this fleet. Just like the same reason why SQ sends their A345 to Jakarta.

    mw19we4.jpg

Another LOOOONNNGGG one. This one is homebase bound as SQ603 from Incheon, Seoul. Plenty of Kimchi stewardess on board. Hmm.....exotic exotic. Dedicated to our friend called YK from Japan.

    mw20sj6.jpg

Then I heard my gf come back on SQ973 from Bangkok. And I BEREDAR from where I was. Till next weekend when I go spotting again my dear friends. Hope you enjoyed the shots. With love, from LGAV.....LeeCH

  15. Kian Hong,

Thanks for pics from Jandakot. Lovely shots and enjoy your stay in the lovely place. You will miss all the GA flying once you've done your flight test, which feels very far away but comes sooner than you think.

Plenty of nice aerial photos when you do Nav exercise. Watch out in training area, always heavy traffic. Circuits wise, good fun to fly with 11 others in the loop. Watch you speed and spacing with regards to others and remember, do not cut queue while airborne.

See you in Jandakot if I do come by Perth. Take care and please send my regards to SI Michael Stapleton. He is a great chap.
