  1. I'm not really worried about which fleet I'll be going to. If possible, it would be really really cool if I could try MASwings and see Sarawak, Firefly and be based in PEN/SZB and finally venture into MH and spread my wings from there. Sure, if you go into MH and start with the 737, it would be almost just as fun, but I get the feeling I'm missing out on something which I could try out, while I'm still young. Props are great fun. Its reminiscent of the old days of flying, an age of travel, just with newer equipment. As SQ says, "The romance of travel lives on". Bottom line is, I'm really grateful for the opportunity I have and I plan to use it to its limit. As long as I get to fly, I will. Show me my ride and lets go. :)

  2. Well, lets hope the flooding won't cause a spillage. I wonder if the MAS cadets are going to the mainstream MAS fleet, which was the only choice post-rationalization, but now with the birth of Firefly and MASwings I wonder if any MAS cadets would be headed that way too. Or would they take private candidates to fill up the vacancies.

  3. Hmm. Looks like AirAsia is starting to turn into ScareAsia. Haha. I took 2 round trips with AK. LGK-KUL-LGK runs. The 737s are pretty worn out, I'd admit. The first flight I took with them was steaming hot(crappy air conditioning) during the fasting month and I skipped lunch in respect for my friend who was travelling with me. Whole cabin seemed very tired and discoloured. Crew make up was starting to melt before my very eyes. Not a very pretty sight. My second 733 trip with them, aboard the Amazing plane wasn't Amazing at all. Cabin with lights still seemed a little dim unlike the MH 734s. The A320 trips were good though. Spanking clean. So yeah. I remember on my trip onboard an MH734 once, the air conditioning in some row wasn't working. I think it was 6/7 ABC. Not too sure. Was surprised to see the captain come out to inspect it and talk to the passengers mid flight to see if they were good. Was a nice touch. The second plane I took after my original ride (some immaculately clean 734 with wings gleaming) I think it was -MQO with the brown carpet went bust. Haha. Was rather ironic.

  4. In-Mood feat. Juliette - Ocean Of Light

Step by step my life went down

    Only troubles all around

It seemed to me that darkness has no end

I used to climb the mountains high

I thought that I can reach the sky

    Searching for another promised land

    (Chorus)

    Only heaven heard my cry,

I prayed the Lord to take me high

Now he's the wind beneath my wings

    Now I can fly

Come and give me your hand (come on)

I'll show you the land (come on)

Of your dreams in the night

We will fly side by side

Let me open your heart (come on)

Give your life a new start (come on)

Turn the river of tears to an ocean of light

    Walking in the darkest night

    Looking for a guiding light

I found the meaning of my life today

Always knew I've got to fight

For a holy star that shines so bright

Even if it's only a heartbeat away

    (Chorus)

    Only heaven heard my cry,

I prayed the Lord to take me high.

Now he's the wind beneath my wings

    Now I can fly

Come and give me your hand (come on)

I'll show you the land (come on)

Of your dreams in the night

We will fly side by side

Let me open your heart (come on)

Give your life a new start (come on)

Turn the river of tears to an ocean of light

    Ocean of Light

Now I know I'm not alone

Faith in love has made me strong

I've got a friend who gave me a helping hand

    Chorus

    Only heaven heard my cry,

I prayed the Lord to take me high.

Now he's the wind beneath my wings.

    Now I can fly

Give me your hand (come on)

I'll show you the land (come on)

Of your dreams in the night

We will fly side by side

Let me open your heart (come on)

Give your life a new start (come on)

Turn the river of tears to an ocean of light

Come and give me your hand (come on)

I'll show you the land (come on)

Of your dreams in the night

W will fly side by side

Let me open your heart (come on)

Give your life a new start (come on)

Turn the river of tears to an ocean of light

  5. Slightly off topic, well, very but this seemed like a good place to put it, anyway, my dad spotted an airline with the swiss emblem on it yesterday (Friday the 25th) in Kuching. I was like "Huh?" I saw the pic he snapped and surprise, surprise, it was Swiss! HB-registered aircraft. will post a pic later if anyone wants to see. Cheerios.

  6. If i'm not mistaken, doesnt Sydney close after a certain hour at night? I kind of see the logic in it. Leave SYD before closing time, hop to BNE and land at KUL at a not-so-ungodly hour. The last time I took the flight, I landed at 0340 when KUL was practically dead. So an arrival at 6am would be better for me, even if i have to stop at BNE.

  7. Hey. Thai is pretty good in eco. Yeah, Thai has mainscreen for the 747's, like the a330 and a300. Don't expect top notch entertainment options though. Audio selection is a hit and miss thing. I like their Thai Music Journey channel. Gives Thai instrumental music. Cheerful and semi funky. My advice is: Sleep! Thai crew are good. The ones I had were cheerful and ready to help. Food is good too. Nice portions and pretty tasty. Cheers to your journey with Thai.

  8. Hey B17 trio. Glad to see you're enjoying life. SO how you coping with the new environment? You'll be fine. :) Have fun. The instructors there are awesome. The ones I had were pretty cool. Hope you're not sweating after 5 with the 7-7 air cond rule. haha. So where are you guys being put up? The hotel block? If so, lucky, lucky you. :) Go try jogging by the wavebreaker. Pretty sure most of you will lose some weight there. I slipped off about 8-10 kilos or so during my stay I think. Take care. cheerios.

  9. well brennan and sanjay, welcome to Hma. :) As you begin your journey in groundschool, mine just ended. Had my Ca2 exams thursday. going for a 'two week leave', so see ya peeps in say two or three months! Hopefully the air-cond 0700-1900 ban rule will be over for your sake. And I sure ho e you love spicy food as we have some funky cuisine here. taking my first fokker50/firefly flight tomorrow. cheers!

  10. Hey ppl. In HMA now. haha. Been here for 2 days now. Place is pretty cool, friendly people. Slightly military styled. Learnt how to shout some marching commands justnow. Claases wont start till tomorrow. Oh well. Next MAS batch is sceduled for Kelantan in September. The next is HMA in december. So...looking forward to others joining us.

  11. Well, looks like I'm 1/16 for batch 10/06 at Langkawi. I guess I have a pretty diverse group. We're leaving on 7/8/06. Had my head shaved (number 2-whatever that meant) and those who didnt were shooed out by Capt Tony (Pretty strict guy) and asked to return with shaved heads within 30 minutes. Nothing much went on today. We were asked to buy our own clothes and accessorise them with stuff from their uniform store this friday. Our measured unifors wont appear till a month later.

  12. This reminds me of the 777 documentary I saw on Discovery a few years back. They fired frozen chickens into the engine at full throttle. No effect whatsoever I think. This is wicked tho. Can't imagine a lil bird doing such damage to the engines. Whats the reg of the unfortunate aircraft?
