  1. Given a choice, who would like to fly a tight 738 to HKG than a on a wide bodied aircraft. Luckily CX still offers few daily flights to HKG on their A333s/777s.

    It's interesting that MH cant even fill up a A333 when CX can still operate up to 3 daily.

     

    CX provides very attractive fares for flight out of HKG from KUL. Believe a lot of pax on CX flight do not have HKG as their final destination.


  2. Unfortunately I'm only 19 and unable to rent a car :(

    How reliable is the taxi app? (how long do you usually have to wait in that location)

     

    They're usually very quick, depending on your location (Subang should not take too long)

     

    Perhaps it will be more useful if you were to publish the dates you're coming, someone might be free to bring you out and about.


  3. So what are the consequences of landing heavy? I guess could cripple the landing gears and tyres burst or possibly brakes on fire?

     

    During approach, I assume they probably have to increase air speed as sink rate can be faster than normal landing?

     

    faster approach speed, more landing distance (less stop margin), brake overheat (tyre burst). It won't cripple the gears if done correctly but typically the aircraft will be pulled off service for a thorough structural check, which might mean days/weeks grounded hence loss of revenue. Which is why typically for a less urgent technical fault, they will burn/jettison fuel until their below their max landing weight. The minor fault can then be fixed and plane can resume service.


  4. IMHO, the FBW flight envelope only provides protections to its namesake; overspeed, stall , excessive G etc, even so the pilot will be able to override the said protections if he wants to.

     

    Terrain avoidance will be under a different system, the GPWS & EGPWS. However it only supplies the bells and whistles. The autopilot will probably disconnect at one point close to ground and if without any pilot intervention it will just fly to the ground.


  5. ATC will randomly assign a squawk number to the aircraft, the pilots will then input and therefore "assign" the given code it to the aircraft he's flying. Without the squawk code and the transponder, aircrafts will just be a tiny blip on the screen, with it it will show the callsign, height, speed etc (depending type of transponder used) on the radar screen.

     

    Like the flight above, from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney, what happens normally Lumpur ATC will assign MH143 with a squawk number upon receipt of clearance. Most probably as it switches over to Singapore ATC there is another aircraft under Singapore's control which shares the same squawk number, as such it is instructed to squawk 2147 instead to avoid confusion.


  6. Heard the Latest gossip from klia2 about horror stories in Gate K/L. Few staffs which I not really sure either AirAsia, Malindo , Duty free or AVSEC personnel saw something that supposed not to see.

     

    1) heard the strange sound at gate K8, like a sound of bell, crawling, knocking n etc

    2) smell the kemboja flowers

    3) got staff been poked by something when they fall asleep

    4) saw the "pocong" rolling at gate till few staff ran away

    5) saw the old lady

    6) staff histeria

     

    Omg, these paranormal activities should be taken seriously and the authority should do something .

     

    I can attest to point number 1. Was at K8 3 days ago waiting for my flight, heard those sounds that seem to have come from the ceiling. Felt like the ceiling is going to collapse anytime.
