  1. Helicopter Carrying Muhyiddin Makes Emergency Landing In Tuaran

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- A military Nuri helicopter carrying Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made a forced landing in Tuaran, about 45km from here, due to bad weather.

There were 14 other passengers in the helicopter, including Muhyiddin's press secretary Datuk Ainon Mohd and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Yahya Hussin.

    All passengers, however, escaped unhurt.

According to Ainon, they were heading to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport from Kudat after the deputy minister opened the Kudat Umno division meeting at about 1.45pm.

"He is scheduled to open the Penampang Umno division meeting later today," she told Bernama here.

Ainon said following the incident, Muhyiddin had asked Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to open the Umno meeting in Penampang on his behalf.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters at the airport before leaving for Kuala Lumpur, Muhyiddin said he was grateful that all passengers in the helicopter were safe.

While admitting that this was the first time he ever experienced the suspense of an emergency landing, Muhyiddin said:"I think the pilot had made the right decision (emergency landing) because the weather was really bad."

FYI Tuaran is located to the north of Kota Kinabalu

  4. I am posting on behalf on Min Chun, his connection is not stable.

Andi, what's PelanconganCepatBersatu? Do you have the number for Pen's or KL's branch?

I have contacted a few travel agents and they gave me the price of at least RM2600. They charge ex bucks comparing to internet fares.

I'm trying to book all the flights at once because I am not familiar with the airlines in States and worry that there may be higher chance of flight delay.

Pelancongan Cepat Bersatu Sdn Bhd is the General Sales Agent (GSA) for UA in Malaysia.

KL Main office is located in Bangunan MAS. Tel: 03-2161-1433 (Look for Pauline or Diana)

Pen branch is located in Pengkalan Weld. Tel: 04-2636020 (Not sure if they still maintain this Penang branch)

FYI, Jul/Aug is summer peak. Hence, lower fare booking classes may not be available anymore, & you may have to fly in higher fare booking classes.

Since you're in PEN, I suggest you to 2 reputable travel agents, PST Travel & Ace Tours.

  5. Contact 'Pelancongan Cepat Bersatu' (GSA for UA) in KL. Penang also has a branch I think. Or any reputable travel agents.

They have a special fare ex-Malaysia, guarantee cheaper than any internet fare.

    Routing will be:

    PEN-SIN-NRT/HKG-SFO/ORD-MCO

PEN by MH/SQ/MI (any carriers), fare already included in the ticket.

NRT or HKG will be the Asia transit city

    SFO/ORD gateway hubs for UA

Another option will be by NW/DL (GSA is located in Menara TA One, I think):

    PEN-SIN-NRT-MSP/DTW-MCO

PEN-SIN by MH (fare included in ticket)

MSP or DTW is NW's gateway hub

With DL/NW merged, I supposed this route may also be permissible:

    PEN-SIN-NRT-ATL-MCO

    CX also has CX+AA special

    PEN-HKG-LAX or SFO - (AA/CX codeshare) - MCO

If MH or SQ, fly to their US destinations and purchase the domestic flights from e.g Virgin America, Jet Blue or Southwest.

    :drinks:

  6. Labor day golden week holidays in China. Chinamen (& Chinawomen) love to come to Sabah. Used to be several chatered flights from all over China. Only 1 flight this year, economy downturn.

  7. Would you have any pics of those ?

And whatever happened to them ?

I really like to see those pics too. I heard Arkib Sabah still have some. I'm very interested to know the interior config of those planes.

Imagine those days owning a B707 is like owning an A380 today.

Have you heard stories like, the whole Sabah ran out of sugar, Tun M flew his 707 to Singapore to buy sugar. Or crave for some food & flew to Singapore or Hong Kong to tapau.
