  1. It's light black LOL In real life it looks to me like a very deep shade of grey, defo a good improvement over their Airbus fleet's shade of grey. This was so unprofessional of them, and very disgraceful behaviour indeed. You should've made a complaint afterwards.
  2. FYI the Royal Regalia museum in the capital houses two of these fantasy models: a 747-8 Intercontinental in V8-ALI's former scheme and a 777-200LR with the Royal logo, with plinth descriptions mentioning them as gifts from Boeing to HM during some sort of aviation expo (I think). If I were to venture a guess, they were at least 1:72 scale. Here are some pics I took last time I went there: :
  3. Yeah I got that but it still didn't answer my question. Anyways, thanks for sharing that linked pic! I remember it mentioning about a 'mini-me' of some sort so I assumed the inaugural passengers were gonna get a scale model (esp since JC Wings has already released their 1:400 version) - well, apparently not.
  4. Apparently it's supposed to stand for DreamLiner Alpha, but they should've thought it through considering it does sound pretty much like 'DeLAy'. By the way, anybody got a photo of the gift pack? Asked the @tweeting787 about it and the disappointing response I got was: "Goodies? They gave out goodies?? No one tells me anything! ;)"
  5. Yep, flies the 744 and not to forget the A342 as well (that's His Majesty in the cockpit). Image sourced from Airliners.net.
  6. True, the previous color scheme would've looked amazing on the 787. But at least they've darkened the grey on the belly a bit which to me improves the overall look of the new livery (by 0.1% better, because frankly i still hate it) than the original grey already painted on their other Airbuses.
  7. Thanks Tamizi, post has been edited. That's the second photo I've uploaded in this thread that's failed to show.
  8. Here's a closer look at the plane. The jawi-script reads 'Bandar Seri Begawan'. P/S the Panji-panji and 'brunei' and other wordings are watermarks. Image sourced from Infofoto Brunei, I do not own the image.
  9. Very impressive transformation indeed. New plane has arrived already apparently, before dawn today. I can't wait to catch a glimpse of it!
  10. It looks great, and I actually prefer the Mahkota logo on the tail, just like the 727 fleet used to have - it definitely brings out the Majestic look of the plane. At least it's a welcoming sight to behold in Brunei's skies when compared to the national carrier RB's cheap-looking new livery scheme. Photo: Manfred Faber / Source: PlanePictures.Net
  11. Nightmareliner's much more like it Either way it hasn't been able to live up to its name just yet.
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21038128 ANA has announced the grounding of its 787 fleet apparently. This was news waiting to happen eventually.
  13. I'm not saying it is. It's the low-key nature of the acquisition that raises curiosity about the goings-on internally, considering that any additional planes usually are a big deal in the local media.
  14. I'm actually surprised they got hold of another A320 rego V8-RBU that seemed to have missed the local media spotlight. One A320 to replace...how many returned 777s? And I sure hope the other existing, pre-rebranding planes don't get repainted to the new livery.
  15. Why mess with perfection? The new design's utterly horrendous. The livery's lost all sense of the 'Royal' feel to it. They've been synonymous with 'RBA' for so long, renaming it to RB is just plain wrong. And they've made matters worse by permanently placing that on the tail. The tail should've been for logos and emblems only and not for acronyms of any sort. I'm gonna miss seeing all those yellow landing above my rooftop, cos it's always gonna be gray skies from now on. I sure hope BKH and MHB are never gonna change. I agree with you, this would've been a much better design. The 85~% white scheme would still have been parallel to the minimalist design concept if that was in fact what they were hellbent to aim for in the first place, but at least the rest of the design will look like it was well thought of, unlike the new design. As THE national carrier, the overly-simplistic new design somehow portrays us in Brunei as lacking in creativity and short of talented graphic designers
  16. I don't have photos of my own, but here's one from BruDirect: http://www.brudirect.com/DailyInfo/News/y2k/Jan07/260107.htm By the way, do you know what happened to their former Sikorsky S-61 choppers? Last time i heard, these were advertised for sale in the Borneo Bulletin. I didn't have much money then...hahaha...
  17. Hmm...oddly enough, there's still no word from Boeing regarding 787 Dreamliner orders from Royal Brunei, so there's a high possibility that these aircrafts are on lease. By the way, zeqa, are you also from Brunei? Anyways, I was lucky enough earlier this year to have caught a glimpse of the Volga-Dnepr Antonov AN-124 at BWN carrying the Sikorsky S-92 choppers!
  18. I did recall seeing a bi-engined Royal Brunei aircraft inside their maintenance hangar here at BWN a few weeks ago, which i could've sworn was unusually large when compared to the UA B762 parked just outside the hangar, so i don't believe this was one of their regular B763s.
  19. Hello again. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. I guess you can just call me Shaiful. About Mr. Arbeeaye...i guess i could use that as my alias in my I.C....hahaha... I look forward to my great stay here too!
  20. Hello. This is my first post, and i've decided to post here being a Royal Brunei enthusiast myself. By the way, i saw on Rolls-Royce's website that its customers for the Trent 1000 engine for the 787 Dreamliner includes Royal Brunei Airlines, so i guess this confirms their speculated orders, though it should be any day now that Boeing makes an official announcement.
