Full release from MH and its highlights:

How will MH fly 1x 333 service to HKG, TPE, CAN, PVG, PEK when they are already short of aircraft? They have some room from the canceled 4x weekly BNE flights but they also have DOH 2x daily plus JED/MED. HKG as it is only served once a week on a 332 and the rest are 738.

I believe they have a lot of 738s which are under utilized. These sectors can be operated by 738s as they did before pre-covid. Perhaps PEK (PKX) would require 330s. Considering MH is offloading inter borneo flights to FY, this would free up capacity to serve these higher yield routes.

I am not sure - MAG usually make announcements about orders that are MoUs, not firm orders. They take a long time to firm up the order. Does anyone know if the MoU for the A339s have been firmed up?

Looking at their past track record with the 787 wayang, I'm not putting much hopes on their 339s.

Believe its already affected. Cause early this year or as of last year plans are to take 7 units starting from mid may 2023. Now its scaled to just 4 units and entry july 2023.

Whats mind boggling is that smaller airlines who ordered max much later have got their aircraft.

Khazanah has given MAG cash injections for their operations up to 2025 - so it looks like FRA/CDG will not be within their operational budgets before then. Malaysia's trade with the EU is not that high, so European destinations are not that popular. AMS and LHR are OK due to the presence of Shell and the traditional ties with the UK.

QF is a curious case - they used to operate into KUL but I guess their main hub in ASEAN is in SIN. So unless KUL can give them a great advantage over SIN, they will not be bothered about partnering with MH. There is little synergy if the two should get together now.

Insiders say MAS have been cash positive for nearly 2yrs without drawing funds from Khanazah's guaranteed injections.

Which Indonesian station(s) that MH intended to expand? SUB?

From FR24, MH is already operating daily if not double daily to SUB on certain days. I'm guessing its restrictions to add more frequency.

China still refuses to restore Beijing, Shanghai flights to daily schedule for MH. Indonesia has refuse to give additional frequency slots to MH in favour of Malindo.

If thats the case, MAVCOM should retaliate to restrict Malindo from being given more flights. Govt should practice bilateral approval. It now appears like MH being the "anak tiri", or even AK for that matter.

Its the same everywhere dont take ryanair, dont take easyjet, don't take frontier/allegiant, dont take airasia etc. But people would still stupidly flock to them in doves cause its cheap majority of the time. As this goes on the market forces is gradually pulling towards that segment no matter how we dislike it.

Sometimes they are not really cheap to begin with. Like a lot of malaysians, whenever they think of travelling locally or within asean, only AK comes to their mind. They wont bother checking other airlines fare. The world of travelling to them is only AK, whenever they are told to check fares of malindo or MH the first thing that comes to their mind is "expensive"

Before downsized, mh was a major carrier on kangaroo route. if mh have enough good yield transit pax, o&d yield from kul is secondary.

on kul-bkk, mh ticket price is generally more expensive than tg; tg serve 3 course meal and good range of alcohol. with limited network, poor service, etc, few pax are willing to pay premium price to travel mh.

MH is doing 4-5x daily on the BKK route with A330s at times. Loads should be healthy i guess.

I think the reason is more of AirAsia is really short of cockpit crew now. A lot of them have resigned post pandemic and taken up offer in Vietnam, Middle East, Taiwan and Turkey. Some even paid to break the bond, or their new employer paid off AirAsia. Tony Fernandes can't do much though since he is running a scam shithouse with AirAsia. Really pity those who have no choice but to stay put.

Quite the opposite, they still have many on furlough and operating with half month work pattern. Those flying are only working half of what they used to.

My personal take is that the previous naming was logical even though people got confused. KLIA2 is really a different airport. Pax don't have airside connectivity between terminals, it has its own runway and travelling between terminals on the roads take quite a fair bit of time.

Perhaps, the Ministry of Transport is thinking of more connectivity between terminals to leverage the unused capacity as the govt. would not have the money to build the second satellite terminal for KLIA anytime soon.

    Lets see what happens....

Technically, they share the same runway. Runway 15/33 can be used by main terminal operators as well and vice versa KLIA2 using Runway 32L/R 14L/R. So its not a different airport per say. A lot of foreign airports dont have airside connectivity too between terminals. Some are at opposite ends of the airport. Just like how the old LCCT used to operate.

It would appear to me that MAG is really short of cash and is cutting all unnecessary expenditure and non profit making activities. I suspect that their situation is far from the rosy picture they are painting of themselves to the media and the public.

Not what my friends in MAS say, they even got bonus last month.

Insider's comment: MH does not have enough manpower for ground crew and suffers from severe lack of equipment at the moment. The turnaround time for most MH flight now are just impossible for the limited crew, especially in KUL. A lot of experienced MH ground crew have been poached by ME3, and SQ recently. Good grief when there is any major festival period. CNY and Raya are coming.......

(PS: The actual story is longer and more detailed, but I am not in privy to talk much in public space)

Ground crew or Cabin crew/Engineers? Never heard of ME3 and SQ poaching for ground handlers/passenger handling staff.

MH needs a new social media/PR team. Who launches/resumes a new flight without any hoo-haa or at least give some sort of advance notice. I didn't even know they fly to Pekanbaru now! They can follow how UA teases their followers with new routes and announce it with a bang. Their social media is all about Journify and not much more. These social media posts or press release aren't expensive. At the very least, put it on their website!

Apparently the 2x weekly YIA and PKU flights are Umrah feeder services. Most of the seats are already blocked by agents, hence not much room for commercial sales and media hype.

heard from a few friends; it seems mh has been cancelling low load flight and combined pax to improve load, also means mh is not dependable. those pax with tight schedule is not advisable and unlikely to book with mh.

Looks like AirAsia is learning from MH then. Had my flight to SIN changed 3x on AK recently. From 8am departure retimed/changed to 5pm. So AK is not dependable too.
