They forgot one little psychological detail. The shopping area should be after the baggage check-in area because once you offload your baggage, your hands are free and the chance of you buying something is greater.

I was at ADL in 2014. After clearing immigration, we were routed through inside duty free shop before finally reaching the gate areas.

If there is one area that the proposed airline company can explore is connecting traffic (i.e. hub and spoke model). I think we all aware that major hubs like SIN, DXB, DOH and HKG thrive on connecting traffic. Otherwise, there are no point airlines based in these hubs acquire hundreds of planes if not for transit passengers.

CX may be facing issues of its own, but certainly A380 is not one of them.
Another feature how 747 wins over A380 is that the cockpit sits higher on the upper deck, allowing cargo doors to be designed on the nose.. practical for loading and unloading lengthy freight. Even Juan Trippe envisioned that 747 might eventually become cargo planes as he thought supersonic flights will replace slower jets. Kinda true in a way but not precise based on how civil aviation turns out to be today.

Anyone knows why OD8113 (Ningbo-BKI) circled above KK for 4 or more laps at 25,000 feet at 4.30am on 13/2? I saw the plane at about 4.30AM (while outside enjoying the cool crisp and clear morning air). Then, I saw a plane cruising at high altitude, thinking that the plane was bound for either CGK or DPS. Then suddenly it turned west then north then back again to where I stood. I looked at FR24 and realised that plane was circling repeatedly with constant altitude.

I think Airbus was too distracted in going all out to beat Boeing with its own 747 killer. But, Boeing is smarter because by 1990s, the high capacity, longer range twinjet market was beginning to accelerate and 777 was by then already eclipsing A330/340, both in capacity, range and performance. Airlines found that twinjets is better than quads, maintenance cost wise.
If Airbus had the foresight and develop the A380s with two engines instead, I think the aircraft still had the chance in the market.

Believe Kudat doesn't need an airfield.
I still think Kudat needs one, for security reasons be it for border patrol or SAR operations. But as scheduled commercial operations, that is increasingly not viable one, especially when there will be a new highway linking KK to Kudat which potentially cut driving time to just 2 hours instead of 3 right now (planning and construction should be underway now). Perhaps, a private enterprise wishes to operate the terminal there and rent the spaces to general aviation fliers.

That's almost like robbing Peter to pay Paul, no? Money still have to come out from somewhere. Do you want a local authority say Kudat Municipal Council operate Kudat airport? Where are they going to get the money from? Kudat residents?
I am not sure which kind of local authority KK Lee is referring too. If local councils, then that would be tremendously challenging or even outright impossible! Even these councils barely manage to keep our streets satisfactorily clean. As someone who liaise with local councils from time to time, my understanding is that their general scope of work is just to keep their towns and districts clean (collect rubbish, etc.) and maintain basic public amenities like community halls and sports facilities. They generally have no in-depth knowledge about long term land use and economic planning (even one technician I talked to does not apply GIS in their work, despite GIS being very essential mapping skills for decision-making nowadays across many fields of work) . The most they could get is beautifying towns and appeal for budgets from state or even federal agencies. In short, our local authorities are just not capable of managing complicated and highly regulated facilities like airfields.
Unless...
Sabah and Sarawak get their 20% oil royalties from Federal lor...

MAHB better off focusing on KLIA. Afterall, it is company's jewel.. Other major airports should be left to be managed by separate companies like Senai JHB. Then, there will be chance for these secondary airports to grow their potential.

Disregarding the subject totally.. That's a really poorly written article. RM1.4m is not the "loss"....
Not to mention the empty plane picture in the article is a 738....
The whole article is written poorly...like spoilt child yearning for attention. In fact, Daily Express's quality of reporting should be improved.

AK are the giants in Malaysia
they definitely make a dent on the premium market here
Even meals on AK are better than MH.
I can see even government sector employees on official travel are increasingly inclined to book on AK within domestic sectors especially when MH frequency now less than AK in many routes and AK's point to point (no KL transit) as being a plus factor.

Heard some foreigners queued for over 2 hours at this queue.
Speaking of which I saw four automatic gates installed for foreign passport holders at KLIA. I saw one foreign traveller attempting to use it but didn't work for her. Apart from that, there is no one using that machines as all of them queuing up just like in your photo.

Klia2 was purposely designed and built to be inferior to t1. While at the same time add aerobridge to inflate construction cost.
Passing through klia2 again proves to be frustating (at least for me). the maze of shopping lots and ups and downs stairs really adds up to the confusion. And signages are inconsistent and downright confusing. The brain has to to do some arithmetic to make situation logic (i.e. L1, L1M???, then L2...) and elevators buttons instead show 'CP1, CP2, CP3' which is completely not consistent with elevator position (which is P1, P2, P3...) and posted signages.
And direction to Tune Hotel klia2 does not exist at all, although Tune Hotel could have make more effort in providing direction starting right from passengers exiting from arrival hall. Otherwise, tired passengers (like me) have to make some u-turns...

I was weird that KK is booming with Korean air carrier for Seoul route but MH didnt serve the route even as a charter.
MH did try with their then newer 737-800s back in 2010, 3 times per week, but that didn't last long.

If flaw in building design would mean hazard to safety, then it should not be opened in the beginning!

Very interesting for PR. They entered KUL before & pullout, re-start KUL & now adding freq. It caters for OFW market or Malaysians are transiting in MNL? Mmm..
Could be OFW...but PR also is expanding in North America, so can be a good source for connecting traffic.
