Evening all,
I don't know if this is the right place to put this....
Virgin Australia B777-300ER VH-VPE is operating EY418/419 service on 27/5/12 from Abu Dhabi. Virgin Australia will operate this flight on behalf of Etihad every week,
Stefan, thanks for the info. Does it mean that we will see VH-VPE every Sunday or every day ?
I managed to catch VH-VPE on 27/5 and it is posted --> http://www.malaysianwings.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=17369

Hi Chaity i have some questions
which site offers rose for for around USD20 or less?
what is the price for the van ride from vtbs to hotel? is there any other way to get from vtbs to hotel?
how much does the temple charge spotters?
Thank you.
Hi Fablee, Uncle Pieter answered most of your questions.
There is no charge if you spot by the side of the temple.
-
Chaity, did you try to takes cabin photos in RJ?
I did but only a quick snap from the last window seat into the cabin.
-
Thank you guys for sharing all the photos here.
Feel I was there looking at those shots.

Is the Queen's Garden reosrt the most convenient hotel to stay in for our little get-together?
Hi Josh T, I am sure anybody can choose any hotel to stay either in town or near the airport.
Queen's Garden Resort is the "better" choice for hard core plane spotters. It will be so easy for spotter like wake up -> fresher up -> breakfast -> roof top start spotting ( all in an hours time or less )
Comparing to staying in town, do the same chore plus taking the train & taxi to Queen's Garden, easily will take 2 hours.
Even 10 mins for hard core spotters will make a lot of difference getting a rare aircraft or not.
For those not planning to do serious spotting, can stay in town to some sight seeing and shopping. Later to join the group for dinner and a little chat.

Good coverage there Keith Ng & Flee. Do show more when you have the time to edit.
BTW, no close up shots of Jacky Chan's new toy from all ?
-
If the hotel need 300THB for roof access I will go to spot from the temple nearby.
Same here. Luckily I didn't jump in as I found out later it was Rwy 19L in use that day.
I am wondering how often BKK will change the runway ?

Some recent catches in KUL
Sri Lankan cute A320
Getting bored with all the side shots.
Having fun trying my luck on some banking shots
Silk Air, sorry for the quality .....
WT Liew, this is for you.
I bank left .... TK's former ride
You bank left .....Ian Lim's former bus
With proper light and distance, this I like
Have fun !

I was at Queen's Garden Resort last week and enquired about block booking.
The answer I got was not that encouraging as the receptionist quoted 1000 Baht per room per night.
Better off to book on the net for around USD20 or less.
I was chatting with a tourist from Australia checked out from the hotel, he related the same scenario to me.
He checked the internet price but didn't book at USD26 and was charged USD50 for walk-in booking. He had to pay for transport from airport to hotel too using the hotel's van.
I am not sure if the receptionist was pulling my leg when I asked about the roof top access. She told me 300 Baht per day and chargeable even for hotel guest.
Perhaps for those booked the room early and clarify the above with them.

A bit more to conclude my BKK photos.
Taking RJ back to KUL and both aircraft heading KUL in a span of 25 mins
Gate on the starboard side with this special livery
On the port side, airline we might not see in KUL
On the way back, this RJ was making a loop. Wonder why ?
Thanks for viewing and I am sure MWings gathering in BKK will be fun !!
-
KC, thanks for showing the photos.
I like the 787 photos especially the 5th photo
Too bad, I will miss the SIN Airshow 2012 this time.
-
Thank you guys for your comments.
Prompong, you were right I was around the police station area. I remembered seeing a police station sign by the road side.
BKK sure have some unique traffic. Never thought I could catch these 2 airlines below
From Mongolia
From Bhutan
I continued until around 1800 when the sun was below the horizon
Next, I will post some shots from the airport on my way back to KUL.
-
Before I forget, I did spot others that catches my eyes
Seeing the sun shifted, I decided to walk to the main road and find a taxi back to town.
Before that, I dropped by 7-11 shop by the roadside to buy some drinks.
At the counter, the lady was telling me "No sell beer, only after 5PM" I was stunned and just paid for the bottle of mineral water.
I am not sure if the above apply for the whole BKK or just that 7-11. I was in Pataya days earlier and able to buy beer in the afternoon.
Perhaps someone can share if you have encountered the above ?
Not satisfied with my 3 hours+ just to get 3 aircraft, I decided to walk along the main road towards 19L direction.
About 1 km from the hotel, I managed to find a place for Thai Massage with an open car park facing the 19L arrival traffic.
With my 70-300mm lens, managed to a full frame shot for wide body aircraft.
The sun was good and managed to borrow a stool from the food stall by the road side. A big thank you to the stall lady.
This shot is dedicated to the kind Thai lady and the kid, sawadee-kap.
To be continued ......
