Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Guys, There has been a row going on between Rotterdam airport and the Ministery of Traffic and Waterworks Here's what you should know: PH-KBX (= Koningin BeatriX) is the Dutch government operated Fokker 70, and is "owned" or registered by the Ministery of Traffic and Waterworks. This ministery is also monitoring the amount of "noise" of various airports in the Netherlands, and has given RTM airport a fine of 520,000 Euros because of trespassing the allowable amount of noise The airport manager argues, this is unfair, because these extra government flights operated from RTM, since the closure of the Valkenburg Navy Base, are the main cause for this (government flights are Coastguard flights, Police flights, etc.etc); you should know that during the night-hours a penalty of 10x is added to these noise-norms, so i.e. PH-KBX make 40 take-offs or landings during this night-period, it's counted as 400 As RTM is the closest airport for HM the Queen and the Government (both residing at close-by The Hague), it's the most convenient airport to use; now HM or the PM or other ministers have to use Amsterdam-Schiphol (about 45mins drive), or even Enschede AFB in the East (approximately 2hours drive) as an alternative !!! See how long this "closure" of RTM airport stands Silly, really, that the owner of KBX (in fact the one causing the problem) is now fining the RTM airport !!! T Azahan 1 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 pieter, this is hillarious, the culprit is the one that issues fine ticket. by the way, i am quite surprised fokker 70 cannot meet RTM noise standard. but the aircraft meets stage 3 noise compliance right?? Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Azahan, It meets stage 3 by all means; however, "they" use it mostly during the night-hours (2300-0600), for early departure and late landing, actually fining this with 10x The ministery cuts in it's own flesh
