December 04, 2006 21:46 PM AirAsia Passenger Traffic Up 73 Pct KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- AirAsia carried a total of 1.08 million passengers in October 2006, representing a 73 percent year-on-year increase in the number of passengers carried. The growth was derived from additional flight capacity as the Group received one Airbus A320 aircraft during the period, the low-cost carrier said in a statement Monday. The additional aircraft has also provided 22 percent more capacity as it has 32 more seats compared with the Boeing 737-300 aircraft. The extra aircraft enabled the company to introduce its latest route offering, Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi on Oct 4. "This route is serviced seven-times weekly and we have been enjoying robust demand on this sector since launch," the airline said. In addition, AirAsia also increased its frequencies on existing routes.
