The deal, valued at US$1.5 billion, comes as part of a fleet modernisation program and will allow Pakistan International to introduce new long haul routes, the Karachi based airline said. Boeing did not say when it planned to begin delivering the aircraft. The order comes after what Boeing says was a record year for the 777, with a net order book of 200 aircraft in 2011. To date, Pakistan International Airlines operates two B777-200LR, four B777-200ER and three B777-300ER. The new B777-300ER order will replace the remaining five B747-300.
